i hate to do this but unless someone else has an idea id go to the netflix support. They probably won't be helpful (they're tech support isn't it their job?) but they might know of some known problems.

I have the same problem. It took me some time to find the culprit behind my random pc reboots. I have tried checking everything and after some time I reinstalled windows. No effect.

Temporary solution for me is to use netflix as an app instead of watching it through chrome. I do not know if other browsers also work but for now I'll use the app as this hasn't resulted in a spontaneus reboot.

I, too, am having this same issue. Just built my first PC in mid January (rtx3070, ryuzen 5600x, all new parts from the box) and for some reason when I watch netflix via my browser, my computer will occasionally reboot itself. There have been some days where netflix works just fine without rebooting, and others where it continually does it. Under no other circumstances has my computer had any issues.

I have the same problem with netflix using microsoft edge (new version which uses the same engine as chrome). For me most crashes happen when video start or sometimes after unpause the video. And it happen irregularly like there might be no problems for a few days than it will bsod and my pc restart few time in a short period of time.

It sounds like a browser issue have you tried reinstalling the browser or even downgrading the version of chrome or microsoft edge as this seems as though something is going wrong in the process or going through google or chromium.

I'm pretty sure its a chromium engine problem since the issues occurs when using either google chrome or new microsoft edge browser and only when watching netflix. There many topicks including in nvidia and microsoft forums when people write about how watching netflix in browser shutdown pc or bsod occur.

Many think its somehow related to DRM since Netflix use very aggresive drm protections. As a workaround disabling drm playready or hardware acceleration in chrome or edge fix the issue but at the same time it lock videos to a max of 720p resolution in Netflix (again drm related issues).

I am having the same issue with my brand new 5600x X570 build, strange thing is it started happening on my old system when I installed a SATA SSD. Same thing happens on both systems, they slowly lock up, things slowly become less responsive for about 30 seconds until the mouse cursor freezes and the computer locks up. It only happens with chrome, usually on the front page of Netflix. I'm pretty sure this is a Chrome issue.

Can anyone give me a quick update, what the current state of Netflix on Linux (especially on opensuse Tumbleweed) is?

I already did some searching on google and found old threads mentioning stuff like: pipelight

but as i found out pipelight is not only discontinued, at it seems that even chrome would not be an option anymore because they abandoned another important feature or am i wrong here?

edit: Chromium kind of works, at least i did not directly get redirected to a info page telling me about recommended browsers and operating systems when i start a video, but instead i get an error telling me that i have to check chrome://components for a component called: WidevineCdm but it is not listed.

So i think i need the real chrome instead

I'm looking for a way to write the batch file to search and locate the chrome.exe and then execute it with the above switches. That way I can share the batch file to other people and it will work regardless of their file paths. Can it be done?

Then we make an additional 2 variables for the two paths where chrome.exe may exist. The function ConfirmSetPaths will test if chrome.exe exists at the "default" path on the PC (in this instance we used "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe").

oh man, but this doesn't help much if you don't use chrome at all and you are still getting the black screen. this is such a puzzle and I am really really surprised no one has found causes and fixes for this yet. like its happening at least twice a month for me now on any streaming that isn't Netflix and I ONLY use safari.(but I still checked the others and they all have same prob too) I have done so much troubleshooting, restarting, turning off any ad blockers and pop up blockers, clearing cache (pain the the rear too that one), and logging in and out of everything all the way to restarting the internet and computer for a full restart cycle. I just wanted to watch some wheel of time on my day off. surely, someone out there knows why this is happening? (MacBook Pro with M1 and Ventura)

So I recently bought a chrome cast and projector which work great. My problem is my most recent purchase which is a google home nest audio. I have set it up on my google home app and can listen to music via Spotify using voice commands however, if I try and open Netflix using a voice command I keep getting the response

I am am unsure why this is happening considering I have a projector and not an android tv. The projector does not even have a wifi option let alone a Netflix option. The only way I can watch Netflix is through the chrome cast.

In our case, we need to have access to tabs to find the active tab, execute scripts and send messages between the UI and the extension. We need storage for store extension settings in the browser and declarativeContent for taking action depending on the tab content. The last element https://*.netflix.com/ allows extension access only to the netflix.com domain.

I assume that you do not have a developer account in Chrome Webstore. So to run this extension go to chrome://extensions/ in your Chrome, click the Load unpacked, select folder with the extension and that's it! Then, obviously go to the Netflix page for testing it.

cross-platform, regularly updated for the widest audience, and it's safer than having an app

for a small platform. I also heard figures of $1+ million (to several) per platform, for official

apps which are always need authorisation and/or development by the service, such as Netflix.

In this case, Netflix is no longer usable on my Wii-U, which is actually annoying to me as I

liked streaming to the Wii-U joypad, because I don't have a tablet which runs their app...
