The distributable NWC file exporter lets project teams using Navisworks software generate whole-project models for simulation and analysis. Team members can generate optimised NWC files directly from design applications without needing a licensed seat for Navisworks. The NWC exporter works with a range of products, including AutoCAD and Revit software, as well as 3ds Max, Bentley MicroStation and Graphisoft ArchiCAD software. The NWC file format supports transfer of both object geometry and associated metadata.

You can download this exporter here. There are some differences if you translate to Viewer from .rvt (Revit) or from .nwc (Navisworks). I remember doing some testing with levels, and .nwc expose this better than .rvt. You mentioned Rooms, is that what you're looking for?

Hi, I have an NWF file which I have attached several 3D models from Plant3D (piping and equipments). I wonder if someone knows how to export this file in IFC while maintaining the layers of the objects? When I use IFC exporter and bring it in revit, the XREF stayed in a big block and it's impossible to make a query on one pipe to have the information of that line.

Hi Julie,Unfortunately I am not familiar with correct Revit importing settings, but we have now also Plant3D IFC exporter available. If you are interested in trying it, please find the download link:https:\\www.codemill.fi\download\IFCP3D2022.2.zip

The IFC Exporter will convert all data displayed in the Autodesk Navisworks Scene to IFC and automatically detect Elements from Model Items. No user interaction is required, all data will be available including Buildings, Sites, Storeys, Spaces, Elements, Materials, Textures, and Properties and the Geometry is exactly a much of what you see in Navisworks. This is a freeware solution the IFC files created will not have colors and properties, you can subscribe at CellBIM Store for a registered version that will add all features to the IFC exporter.

You can also use the Dynaworks dynamo package to manage a navisworks model in Dynamo.

You don't need Revit for this, Dynaworks works in DynamoSandbox.

Dynamo sandbox: select the latest CoreRuntime, extract, run DynamoSandbox.exe. Dynamo is open source, except for the nodes inside it:

You can download Dynaworks in the built-in package manager, select a version according to your Navisworks version, e.g. Dynaworks20 for Navisworks 2020.

An introduction to dynaworks: -is-here-navisworks-library.html

Dynaworks source: (It only contains versions till 2015, I don't know where are the later sources, or who builds them.)

If you are new to Dynamo, here is the official tutorial:

I just made a quick graph which creates Dynamo geometry from a selection set in Navisworks. After this you can export it to various formats supported by dynamo: sat by default, mix, obj, dae, ply with the MeshToolkit package, other exporter packages may exist.

I'm opening the floor for pre-alpha contributions for stress testing, having created a Navisworks -> Speckle exporter.

This is the last phase of testing before releasing NavisworksSpeckle for community alpha testing.

Alternatively, use the Uninstall or change a program control panel. Right-click the entry for your Datasmith exporter plugin, and choose Uninstall from the context menu:

Depending on how the program was installed, deployment/disk/download, or how it was installed, the exporters may not install with the program initially. When you prime the exporters they should work just fine.

Aah... Freedom is only a viewer. The exporter is intended to help Navisworks Manage or Simulate users "assemble" a model from various sources.

You don't "need" the .nwc file because you've already got Revit to view the model.

You'd export and then send the file to the other party. They can append your .nwc file to their Navisworks project file. They could send you an .nwd file for you to see in Freedom.

I should have given you the context. There's a thread over on RevitForm.org, called Project Newport, and we've been discussing Revit Viewers (and the desire to have one that non-techie customers can use to orbit and walk-thru a Revit model, without downloading a 3G file and wading thru the Revit interface. A "free & easy" viewer. Scott Davidson suggested Navisworks Freedom (though that's 600MB), which he thinks will take an exported Revit file (after, others on the Forum say) you install the Navisworks Simulator - but only the Revit exporter plugin only) and give that ability, including texture maps.

I've been chasing this Holy Grail for a while, and today I've been chasing the Navisworks Freedom possibility. Apparently (?) Scott and those guys are wrong? 2351a5e196
