An expert content group with expertise in adolescent psychiatry and psychological therapies, CBT, learning technology, marketing and media, and mobile phone health interventions was formed. The group derived 15 key messages, considered appropriate for delivery by mobile phone, from CBT and from RAP-Kiwi (Textbox 1).

Based on the feedback from adolescents in the focus groups and pretesting, a regimen of 2 messages per day (outside school hours) over 9 weeks was developed. Media and marketing principles were applied to the importance of overall framing of the program and to the careful design of individual text and video messages. The program was given identity and coherence with a logo and byline (MEMO: living in a positive space), theme music, and three key words (spot, sort, do). The key CBT messages were reinforced by short memorable text messages that all related to one of the three key words.

All students completing baseline data collection received a run-in program consisting of daily mobile phone messages for 9 days. These messages provided instructions about the study and allowed students to determine whether they could view the video messages on their mobile phones (if not, they could not proceed to randomization). This run-in period was also designed to allow for the initial sharing of messages between friends without potentially contaminating randomized groups. During this period, potential participants were invited to an individual interview with a trained research assistant who conducted the Child Depression Rating Scale-Revised (CDRS-R) [43]. Again, any students exhibiting current depression or risk of self-harm were referred for management by the school guidance counselors and excluded from the study.

Objective:  To develop and test the novel mobile phone delivery of a depression prevention intervention for adolescents. We describe the development of the intervention and the results of participants' self-reported satisfaction with the intervention.

Methods:  The intervention was developed from 15 key messages derived from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). The program was fully automated and delivered in 2 mobile phone messages/day for 9 weeks, with a mixture of text, video, and cartoon messages and a mobile website. Delivery modalities were guided by social cognitive theory and marketing principles. The intervention was compared with an attention control program of the same number and types of messages on different topics. A double-blind randomized controlled trial was undertaken in high schools in Auckland, New Zealand, from June 2009 to April 2011.

Conclusions:  Key messages from CBT can be delivered by mobile phone, and young people report that these are helpful. Change in clinician-rated depression symptom scores from baseline to 12 months, yet to be completed, will provide evidence on the effectiveness of the intervention. If proven effective, this form of delivery may be useful in many countries lacking widespread mental health services but with extensive mobile phone coverage. Once a Voice memo has transferred from my IWatch to my IPhone I no longer need it on my watch, but when I deleted the Voice Memo on my Watch it also deleted from my I Phone Voice Memos, and was not in Recently Deleted on my I Phone so it could be restored. How do I fix this please?

If your S Pen isn't stored in your device, or it's already out, press and hold the S Pen button, and then tap the phone's screen while it is off. The Screen off memo will activate.

I've been using the voice memo feature on my galaxy watch. The idea being I record a quick memo on it "remember to do this or that when you get home" and I see that I've got a notification on my phone that there's a new audio file there. So the whole mechanism seems to be working properly.

But ... the notifications on the phone seem to disappear for no apparent reason. I'll see on my S8's lock screen (without unlocking it) that the notification is there, but then later when I turn the phone on it's not there anymore. I actually caught one of these notifications automatically disappearing in the act. I had my phone next to my computer keyboard on the lock screen and could see the notification, I wasn't even touching the phone - I was typing on my computer and I saw the notification disappear.

So the whole point of these memos ... to remind myself of something when I later access my phone ... isn't working, because by the time I use the phone the notification (reminder) has already disappeared. So I'm relying on my memory that somewhere or other there's an audio file waiting to be listened to.

I bought a new phone - Samsung Galaxy S23 . The Verizon store agent transferred all my old information from Galaxy 7 to the new phone. Where can I retrieve the old memo material I had stored ? I know the new phone does not use anything referred to as memo, but what is there? Please give me simple step by step instructions. I am a old school learner, and wish I had a book with the new phone instead of having to look online.

@Tanzmenagerie: Can you try opening the Samsung Notes app via your Apps menu > Tap the 3 lines in the top left > Tap the cog in the top right of the pop up window > Import Data > Memos > From Samsung Account, to see if you're able to recover your backed up memos in this manner?

I too have the A3 and came across this thread while looking for a memo transfer solution. What I intend on doing is to email the memos to myself and then copy and paste the content into whatever Memo/Notes option is available on the Samsung A32. One step better than creating new Memos/Notes from scratch.

Today's smartphones continue to add new capabilities to automate and streamline life, entertain us, organize us, and connect us to one another in powerful new ways. Most people aren't taking advantage of many of the features that could help them the most. We help you change that.

Starting the recording before you start the call may add a few seconds of silence to the file but will ensure you don't miss any of the conversation. On your iPhone, make sure to initiate the phone call in Speakerphone mode.

Pro tip: The red lines on the Voice Memo app indicate how well the app is picking up sound. The larger the red bars are, the higher the volume that's detected. If the lines stay flat, then you may need to turn up the phone call volume or move the devices closer together.

The Rev Voice Recorder app is also free, able to record while you're using your phone, and can transcribe your files after a conversation is over. Note that the transcription option, however, does cost $1.50 per minute. Once you download your file, it will appear as an MP3 file straight on your device. This is also another great and easy option for recording phone calls and for narrating screen recordings.

As the name suggests, this app is designed for users to easily be able to whip out their phones and start recording whenever, wherever. As a plus, Easy Voice Recorder is text-to-transcription capable. If you download the app and use it on an iPad to record, you can also drag and drop recordings with the Files or other recording apps for further transcriptions or simply to consolidate recordings.

If you're wanting to record important business phone calls, conference calls, or interviews, this $11 app may be worth the investment. For this app to record, you make a "conference call" where the TapeACall app is one of the parties. Then, go into the app and hit the record button to simultaneously record and for the app to "dial in." You do have to merge all "three" calls together, so note that this process is a bit more tedious and a lot less subtle.

There are several that perform this function in one manner or another. However, Apple is restrictive about letting third-party apps use the microphone during a phone call. For that reason, most apps that help you record a call on your phone must use clever mechanisms to get around this barrier. Beyond the method outlined above using the Voice Memos app, people also use Google Voice, TapeACall, Easy Voice Recorder, and Rev Voice Recorder.

Alternatively, you can use most mic-equipped computers or tablets to record phone conversations so long as the phone is on speaker or the microphone is held close to the speaker next to your ear. Both iOS and Windows computers have numerous audio recording software options available.

The voice memo will stop recording if a phone call starts while you are recording. You can resume it after the call has ended. You will have to use an alternate method to record a phone call on your iPhone. You can also use a 2nd iPhone recording with voice memo while the other phone makes the call on speaker.

The default voice memo app on an Android device is 'Sound Recorder.' It does not have as many features as the iOS version, but it is a good alternative. You can use it for recording a lecture or meeting, a song from the radio, or your thoughts.

Voice Memo is a free app that comes with all iOS devices. It allows you to record audio and sound, save it to your device, or share it with others. You can download it for free from the App Store if it is not currently on your phone. If you are looking for third-party recording apps, you can find more information here.

Also remember, there may be people who are shomer Shabbos or who try to disengage from their phones while in shul. Seeing you on your phone undermines their efforts. There is value to unplugging on Shabbat, but we will leave that memo to an entirely different department.

I have a large voice memo that I recorded on my iphone. I want to copy it to Dropbox but can't work out how. The file it too big to save to Dropbox on my phone - it just stops. If it helps, I can see and hear the voice memo when I plug my phone into itunes, so if there is a way of moving a large file from itunes to Dropbox that would help. ff782bc1db
