Paddington train station is located in west London and serves destinations to the west and southwest of the country including Bath, Penzance, Cardiff Central, Oxford and Bristol (change at Bristol for destinations in Devon and Cornwall)

Thameslink is a rail system that runs from Bedford to Brighton through London. There are 8 Thameslink stations with tube connections. If possible avoid using Thameslink as there are better services available.

Heathrow Express offers the fastest route from London Paddington to Heathrow Airport non-stop. With four trains leaving London Paddington every hour, you can catch the Heathrow Express to London Heathrow every 15 minutes. Heathrow Express trains travelling to London Paddington also leave every 15 minutes from Heathrow Airport.

Remember, it takes just 15 minutes to travel non-stop from London Paddington to London Heathrow, but it is still advisable to leave plenty of time before your flight.

The first train to Heathrow Airport from London Paddington, leaves at 05:10. We understand the need for passengers to arrive at London Heathrow for early flights, whether business travellers or those going on holiday from Heathrow, which is why our services run from London Paddington from just after 5am.

From London Stansted airport, take the Stansted Express train service to London Liverpool Street and then take the tube to either Paddington or Marylebone for direct trains to Oxford. Alternatively there is a National Express 737 coach service.

Direct services run from London Paddington (serving Oxford station) and London Marylebone (serving Oxford and Oxford Parkway stations). Other services operate from the north via Birmingham New Street; from the south via Reading; and from the west via Didcot or Reading.

With a number of options available to you, travelling by train to and from London Gatwick couldn't be easier. Not only can you purchase tickets in advance directly via any one of the operators mentioned above, or by visiting the National Rail website, but you can also purchase on the day tickets in the ticket hall located in the South Terminal.

On all days, services will be extremely busy, queuing systems will be in place, and you may not be able to board your chosen train, so please leave plenty of extra time for your journey. Depending on queue length, it may not be possible to board late evening trains. Please plan with this in mind.
