Since leaving the state Senate, Scarnati has continued to bring money to DuBois in a new role. In 2021, Suplizio awarded the new lobbying firm Scarnati founded with partners Nick Varischetti and Tommy Johnson a $5,000 per month contract with the City of DuBois.

Former DuBois City Manager Ron Trzyna told Spotlight PA that the city did not give out bonuses to employees during his time in the position from 2001 to 2006, and questioned the practice during a public meeting of the City Council this past spring.

Aside from his work for the city, Suplizio held leadership positions with two other prominent local organizations: the DuBois Area United Way, where he served as executive director, and Community Days, an annual summer celebration in the city.

The many charges against him illustrate the tangled web of jobs and responsibilities that Suplizio juggled, sometimes with little oversight or accountability. Prosecutors allege he moved money in and out of the various bank accounts he managed at those organizations, and ultimately ended up stealing from them.

Dealing in Proceeds of Unlawful Activities: Several charges allege that when moving money around from various bank accounts he controlled, Suplizio structured a number of financial transactions to avoid bank reporting requirements (financial institutions are required to report withdrawals of $10,000 or more to the federal government) or to conceal the source of the funds.

Law enforcement officials also allege Suplizio charged city taxpayers and the United Way for his cellphone and mileage expenses, and then claimed those amounts as unreimbursed business expenses on his taxes (which in turn lowered his taxable income).

DuBois City Council voted in August to negotiate a buyout with Suplizio for the remainder of his contract, which expires in March 2025. Suplizio, according to his contracts with the city, would be entitled to a lump sum cash payment, unused vacation and sick time pay, and retirement contributions.

Cherry has repeatedly said to the public that no money is missing from city coffers, although she has never explained how she reached that conclusion. But the subtext seems clear: Suplizio did not steal.

In other words, Kary expected me to take the loss on her mistake. As a former business owner, I don't like to leave negative reviews. However, in this case, I feel my experience should be shared. I have investments in a lot of places and have to wonder if i would have ever received the funds back had I not stumbled across the mistakes. I almost lost these funds and hope other retirees don't fall prey and have the same problem I did.

U.S. prosecutors have indicated that the list of federal charges will grow, after announcing a detailed indictment in May that accuses Crundwell of a vast and complex scheme of skimming city money for two decades.

The bigger the city gets, the more demanding the citizens become. With each level, you unlock new buildings and facilities. At a certain level, the city can expand into new areas. All of this is financed with tax money that rolls in weekly.

The game does without complicated administration systems, angry citizens, and natural disasters - at least on the first two islands. In the first hours, when I got to know the game, this was pleasant. For the rest, I wished for a bit more ambition and complexity. It seems to me that I can do (almost) nothing wrong and city building is a no-brainer.

The graphics are in comic style and make a colorful and handsome impression. If you zoom in close to buildings and vehicles, they look like block buildings and are quite poor in detail. Citizens are not visible. All that can be forgiven, since you mostly play from a medium distance.From this view, the city looks lively and the overall impression is simply picturesque. Hot air balloons and boats chugging around in the waters further embellish the scenery.Preview Conclusion: A Promising StartI had a lot of fun in my first hours of Little Cities without any previous genre knowledge. So, city-building dummies should have no problems finding their way around. An open question is how much challenge and new facets the rest of the game offers. Ben's test will have to show that. Little Cities focuses on accessibility and a relaxing city-building experience in VR without headaches.I wasn't able to try out its competitor Cities: VR but, judging from the recent trailers, it will be quite multi-layered and require micromanagement, just like its big PC role model. The question will be what appeals more in the end.Little Cities will be released on May 12 in the Oculus Store for about $20.
