I'm suddenly getting the following error

Card1 cannot be accessed

Reinsert/change the card or format card with camera

on my relatively new R5 with a Lexar Professional 128 GB CFexpress Type B card. I've used this card in this camera without any problems for over a month now. When I try to format the card in camera, I get an error saying that the card cannot be formatted. However, I can still access the card just fine on my computer and have been able to transfer photos from it. I went ahead and deep formatted the card via Windows 11's external disk formatting option, but I'm still getting the card access error on the R5.

Anyone else have this issue with this particular combo (the Lexar card and the R5) or just with CFexpress cards in general? I don't have another CFexpress card to test in the camera, but I'm wondering if this is an issue with the camera or the card since I can read the card and format it via computer without issue.

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

I'm sorry to hear that your EOS R5 is unable to detect and use the Lexar card that you've been using for a while on this camera. You have performed some of the troubleshooting steps that we would have suggested like trying to format the card from within the camera as well as ensuring that the card is able to function with a computer.

I have the same problem with a Sony Tough CFexpress type B card. The card works on my computer. When I place it in my Nikon D850 camera it works fine like normal. I formatted on my Nikon camera and it it formats. Format on computer it formats and use normally. I see there problems with Lexar and one card by Jaketen (he did not give model and brand of his card). I'm just replying to add a Sony Tough Card to the problem. With 3 cards having this problem and me verifying that it works on my Nikon D850 and computer, I have to think that this is a Canon R5 problem. I'm currently on firmware 1.6.

This is the second day with Canon 5D mark iv, brand new. For the first time I tried to use a Lexar 64Gb Professional CF card. The camera gives me the message that it can't use the card. If I try to format the card it sees the card, but after I tell it to format it, it says that it can't format the card.

The Lexar Bootit USB format tool created by Janaki of the Lexar support team enabled users to quickly format their jump drive. Additionally, Lexar's format tool included the ability flip the removable bit of a USB drive. A feature not commonly seen with such tools.

Flipping the removable bit allowed certain flash drives to be detected as a fixed disk instead of removable media. On older versions of Windows, flipping the hardware bit allowed a USB drive to contain more than one partition.

How have you not noticed that sometimes when you press record, the camera takes like 10 second to start recording? You can Google the issue, lots of problems with lexar and Panasonic. I tried it again after the Panasonic firmware fix and still got the delays so I never use lexar and Panasonic.

New Lexar 1000 and 2000 SDHC ll cards unreadable? Yesterday one of our Explorers came to me with a Lexar card issue I had never seen before on any card. Basically, two brand new Lexar cards, one 32GB 1000X and one 64GB 2000X SDHC cards could not be recognized by his Lumix GH4. No matter what we did, the camera would not format or even recognize them as an acceptable card. We shot a video of what we were seeing and you can see it below. Has anyone else seen this issue?

The D500 cannot format the card and when I installed image rescue5 on my latest Windows system, it freezes my computer during the scan of the SD card. The XQD seems fine, but the SD card is a fail. Have not contacted Adorama yet.

I contacted Lexar support via email and they promptly responded. After I performed the formatting they asked me to do using Lexar software and still had unusable cards they had me send the cards back. Lexar replaced the cards but the new ones do not work properly either. Nice job Lexar. 2351a5e196
