I want to make sure I don't lose this picture. The easiest thing for me is if I could just find where the wallpaper image is saved in the Android file system...but I can't find it, and googling hasn't been helpful.

in GNOME it was easy to set background by just right clicking on the desktop and choosing a wallpaper. now i no longer use Desktops, rather i use a Window Manager, "stumpwm" or "ratpoison" and there are no menus in Window Managers

AFAIK, xsetroot can only use bitmaps for window pattern, so you will either have to convert the image to bmp to use it with xsetroot, or you can convert the file to a raw format, and render/write them to the root window - the second one would be the recommended solution, and will require you to use a separate program to decompress the image, and to render them directly on the root window.

Conveniently, many image viewers support rendering images as background, so you will only need to tell the image viewer to render it as background (like the -x parameter to qiv, and the --bg-scale to feh).

Important: If you use your Chromebook at work or school, your administrator might not let you change your wallpaper. If you can't change your wallpaper, contact your administrator for more help.

Up until a couple months ago, if I changed my wallpaper/background image, I could choose between tile, zoom, centre, scale, fill or span. These options no longer appear in GUI for changing the background image.

I am using Ubuntu 17.10.

URI, that file:///home/JohnDoe/Pictures/cool_wallpaper.png, actually stands for Uniform Resource Identifier, which originally was created for internet usage, but there is file URI scheme , which is what we see here. What's cool about URI is that it gives byte-encoded path if you use a non-english locale, for example with my Chinese desktop, I have following URI for my backgroun: 'file:///home/xieerqi/%E5%9B%BE%E7%89%87/Wallpapers/moon_moon.jpg'

Of course, same rules for scripts apply here too: ensure it is made executable with chmod +x set_wallpaper.py and store it in (preferrably) ~/bin folder. Usage is simple: ./set_wallpaper.py Picture/cool_image.py Source code of this script is also available on my GitHub repository with many other scripts, too.

Today, every time I reset or turn off and back on the computer, the secondary desktop wallpaper reverts back to a desktop I had prior (right after OS instal a few days ago). The 1st display wallpaper stays. The STRANGE thing is, when I am logging in after reset or turn on, the wallpaper is correct ! Then once I finish log in, it zaps to the older wallpaper.

Check out this page: Change the desktop picture (background) on your Mac. Make sure everything is set up correctly. Notice that in Mojave "you can also choose from Dynamic Desktop images, which automatically change throughout the day based on the time of day in your location."

I created an image for a desktop wallpaper and set the image directly in Windows (not from a browser). However, the image file I made is no longer on my computer, but the wallpaper is still there. How can I retrieve this wallpaper? It has to load from somewhere.

I have a photo set as my current iPhone wallpaper, which I would like to save. I have forgotten where I stored this file on my computer originally, so I can't easily go back to place it back on my phone. It has since been deleted from my camera roll.

You cannot export the wallpaper, depending on the pattern (if it were repetitive) it would be possible to take screen shots and after emailing these to your self you could edit in Photoshop (other editing software is available)

Looking in the /Users//Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backups folder is effective but very time consuming, especially if you have a lot of files/images in your backup (my phone a 16GB iPhone 5 that is pretty full had nearly 7000 files in there). However, the majority of them were not photos for me.

Put your phone to charge so it will take almost all the UI down for a sec and print the screen. This will get you the image with the battery UI only, then you print another picture from the lock screen after you scrolled everything up or down. compose on photoshop.

One way that may require the help of an octopus is to go to Wallpaper settings click on wallpaper preview that is not the lock screen and pinch the image so it shrinks in the screen - this will get the "Cancel/Set" buttons out of the image. If you let go of the pinch, it'll bounce back, so the trick is to pinch and screen grab at the same time. Then you can crop out the wallpaper setting details in newly captured image in Photos. I was able to do this with four fingers on two hands (no feet required :)) on an iPhone 4s, not sure how dexterous you need to be on an iPhone 6 or 6 plus.

With iOS 7 installed on my iPhone 5 and while viewing my lock screen I plugged a power cable into my phone. For a split second all the text overlays disappeared from my lock screen then a battery power status icon appeared. If you are quick you can take a screen grab of the clean wallpaper.

I had spent a couple hours trying to figure out how to recover my lock screen image since the pic had been deleted from my camera roll long ago. Just as I was giving up and was laying down to bed, I plugged my phone into it's charging cable. That's when I noticed the clear image. It was a life saver. I hope this helps.

Important to note

Before doing this, go to Settings->Wallpaper and make sure "Perspective Zoom" is turned off. Otherwise when setting this newly captured image as a wallpaper it is automatically scaled up so you will lose some information around the edges.

Easy( if lock screen wallpaper) just go to settings wallpaper the selet the lock screen one and pinch the wallpaper with fingers and bring it in the middle may take a few tries and thats when you screenshot. Crop later.

Tap and hold an app to make all your apps shake (how you delete apps), move all 4 of your apps on the bottom bar (the one that is at the bottom of every app page) to a page with other apps on it so it is blank. Slide over to a completely blank page (you can do this while app delete is activated), then take your screen shot. You will only have a small grey bar across the bottom of your image. If the image you want is on your lock screen instead of your home screen this will not help you.

Always upload your pictures to Google Photos. I found my wallpaper photo from 5 years ago of my daughters by searching on my Google Photos list by my daughter's name. Google photos will index all your photos. Just assign a name to a person in one of your photos, and Google will find all matching photos and assign that name to them. Even group photos will be found under multiple names.

I just took screen shot (simultaneously press wake/on and home buttons) of wallpaper photo on old iphone 5. I will crop out the bottom homepage icons. Before taking screen shot, to get a clear wallpaper photo without icons, I moved all icons off the last page of homepage except one icon which I transferred to bottom icon bar. When I initially moved all the icons off last homepage, the last page disappeared so I moved last icon to bottom icon bar in order to get clear wallpaper photo for screen shot.

Just take a screenshot of all the default screenshot choices in settings where you change wallpapers. Then take the saved image and zoom up on the one you like and crop it. It's indistinguishable from the full-size image.

A perfect padlet must have perfect wallpaper. The wallpaper is the soil from which your ideas grow. The backdrop of your beauty. The context for your concepts. Here's how to change your wallpaper and perfect your padlet.

To add a custom wallpaper, scroll down to the Custom section in your wallpaper settings. If you don't have time to scroll you can also select Custom on the top right corner of this menu.

Background: Selects the color and/or wallpaper to use for thebackground. If you select the Copy existing settings option thenBGInfo will use whatever information is currently selected by thelogged on user. This option allows end users to personalize theirdesktop while still displaying the BGInfo information.

Desktops: Selects which desktops are updated when the configurationis applied. By default only the User Desktop wallpaper is changed.Enabling the Logon Desktop for Console users option specifies thatthe wallpaper should be displayed on the logon desktop that is presentedbefore anyone has logged onto the system. On Windows 95/98/ME systemsthe same desktop is used for users and the login screen, so this optionhas no effect. Enabling the Logon Desktop for Terminal Servicesusers option specifies that the wallpaper should be displayed on theTerminal Services login screen. This option is useful only on serversrunning Terminal Services.

Edit|Insert Image: Allows you to insert a bitmap image into theoutput. Because BGInfo's configuration information is stored in theregistry and Windows limits the size of registry values you mayencounter errors when inserting larger images. On Windows 9x/Me systemsthe limit is 16K, while on NT/2000/XP systems the limit is 64K.

I am configuring Group Policy in Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise to apply Desktop Wallpaper to Users and Computer in OU called HR. I shared the folder over the network using share and storage management. I configured the desktop wallpaper settings in the following order:

Check your path - copy and paste the path of the image from the GPO into file explorer on the PC thats not applying the setting - can the user actually acces the image? is there a tpyo in the path? is it a permissions issue? I know it sounds stupid - but I've done it and know others who have as well.

Inheritance - Group Policy modelling (above) will show this. It could be that you have a policy higher up the chain which stops the changing of wallpapers or sets a different wallpaper. e24fc04721
