Are there early level ways of gaining a permanent flying speed without having wings? The only things that I can think of are things like a storm sorcerer's 18th level flight or tempest cleric's 17th level flight etc, or magical objects like the air elemental command ring that are rare enough you wouldn't get them at low levels (and also being items aren't technically permanent as you could lose the item)

The UA fairy race could fly and wings were optional, but now it's been released in Wild Beyond the Witchlight the wings are mandatory. I know they did along with removing ability to hover, but I've seen people say according to sage advice that flight even without wings isn't magical unless it uses a spell slot or is explicitly described as allowing hovering or being magical (which for example storm sorcerer does but tempest cleric doesn't) so I don't understand why mandating wings was necessary to remove the hovering. And with that I think all the flying races are now winged. Am I missing anything?

Birds that moult at the wrong time of the year could be disadvantaged, according to a study by scientists at Lund University, Sweden. Birds depend on a full set of feathers for maximum efficiency when flying long distances, but the study shows that moulting has a detrimental effect on their flight performance.

The annual loss of flight feathers poses a potential challenge to birds due to the resulting reduced wing area and altered wing shape. However, birds have extraordinary flexibility in wing shape, which is thought to help maximise the efficiency of their wings and may compensate for missing flight feathers. "Understanding how moult affects the flight of a bird, can tell us something about the different moulting strategies birds use," says Klein Heerenbrink.

To compensate for the missing feathers, the bird needs to either move the wings forward or unload weight from the tail. There is a limit to how far the bird can move the wings forward and unloading from the tail requires increasing the loading on the main wings, which are already struggling due to the moult gaps. "So the bird has a difficult time finding the right balance," says Klein Heerenbrink.

Australia and its remote territories are home to 6 genera of flying fishes (family Exocoetidae) with 29 species between them. Flying fishes are open water specialists most frequently found just beneath the surface. Nearly all species have greatly enlarged pectoral and pelvic fins used for gliding above the water. Under ideal wind conditions, flying fishes can travel up to 400 metres, using a combination of sustained gliding and taxiing.

In the open ocean where predators are plentiful and hiding places are scarce, the ability to break out of the water and take to the air can make a difference between life or death. To maximize airtime, most flying fishes also have an asymmetrical caudal fin with a longer lower lobe, which they use to skim across the water.

As we steam across the Indian Ocean, the vessel acts like a magnet, picking up sea birds along the way. This cloud of orbiting birds around our vessel are hoping to snatch an easy meal as flying fishes are scared into flight by the movement of our vessel across the water.

As we approach the Christmas Island marine park, the science team is gearing up in preparation for our first deep water trawls. Much of our sampling will take place at the bottom of the sea in the abyssal plane, where the fishes will look nothing like our surface-dwelling flying fish friends.

Flying without wings is a song originally recorded by Irish boy band Westlife, released on 18 October 1999, and serves as the third single from their self-titled debut studio album (1999). Thursday was a practice day from lunch time on. We had a good set-up from Wall Speedway. So we kept the suspension, tyre pressures, alignments and offsets the same. Twins Turbo Motorsports had installed a LSD diff and over sized drive shaft shop axles since I blew my welded diff and all my factory axles on the harsh terrain at Wall so this was my first time ever driving without a lock diff.

I dont really get Drifting (sorry), but another fantastic driver blog. At least you seem to have used up about a year's worth of bad luck at the event (and the drive home). I was at Seattle, only my second event and as a pure newbie it looked like you outdrove the Swede.
