Just recently started playing harvest moon SNES, as it is free on nintendo switch if you're subscribed. I've never ever played this one due to the graphics and that it's just plain old (1996 I think) I was 3 when that came out lol. Crops are divided into Spring crops and Summer crops. You cannot harvest anything during the fall or winter, and that is the time for you to bond with your livestocks rather than tending to your non-existing crops...
Unlike Spring crops, summer crops takes a longer time to grow, but in exchange for that, they worth more than spring crops. Tomato worth less than Corn, but it grows faster than corn. You should have tomatoes as well as corns since you can harvest tomatoes while in waiting for corns to fully grow for you to harvest them. Summer crops are also more expensive when you buy them from the shop, but you do not need to replant them.
Your farm is beaten up and ugly before you get the chance to make it beautiful. To the cynic this might sound like a boring goal, but give it a chance and you'll discover a game that's both relaxing and extremely addictive. Each day you run to town to buy vegetables, plow the fields from 6am until 8pm and then start over again in the morning. After some time you can start harvesting small, mediocre veggies to sell, and with perseverance you might even find yourself with a little spare time to romance some of the town's lovely ladies.
