I've been playing through all the gtas, played through all of vice city and was surprised how lacking it is in overall content compared to san andreas, not just that, but just the general feel of the game, vice city seems way more clunkier in almost every way.

I see that vice city holds a special place in many hearts, but the game just doesn't seem, comparatively, that good. the leaps between Vice City and San Andreas are hard to overlook. San Andreas expanded on Vice City's foundation in a lot of ways , the sheer scope of its open world, the depth of its customization options, and the diversity of activities available is something that vice city i swear doesn't match, still a fun game but just comparitively man

I know that there are some characters in San Andreas that also appear in Vice City and GTA lll. But since GTA lll takes place in 2001 (9 years after San Andreas) you dont have to play it before san Andreas. Vice city takes place in 1986, (6 years earlier than San Andreas).

I only have san Andreas and want to play through The storymode, although ive been thinking about buying Vice city as Well and play it first, since it takes place before san Andreas, would you recommend to play Vice city first or is it not necessary?

Hey guys. I've never played a GTA game before, but love sandbox style games. I'm thinking about picking up one of the ones on the PS2 games for PS4 selection (which is 3, vice city or San Andreas). Which one is the best in terms of single player missions and story. I've heard vice city has the most engaging setting, and best music. As for best story I've heard mixed opinions. Any thoughts?

On the other side of the coin is Vice City, which fares better with the upgrades. Character models still look strange at times, but the overall look of the city is improved. San Andreas at least looks improved now with the series of patches the developer has released.
