Just curious and slightly/really worried about this, as opengapps has yet to release their android 12 build. They usually release it around the same time as lineage is launches in the spring, but that hasn't happened yet this year

As a result, I assembled an image with gapps. But from the applications assembly (gapps.mk) I had to exclude Chrome (an error occurs) and, just in case, YouTube. But this is not a problem, they can be installed later. Hope my experience helps others.

Next, per your suggestion, I created a local FydeOS account and logged in. With the local account, I was able to activate the android subsystem (via popup), and install Open Gapps from the FydeOS Web Store and configure it. The system then rebooted. After the reboot, the Google Play Store icon automatically appeared on task bar.

Also, I understand the issue of GAPPS/no root vs. no GAPPS (but maybe opengapps)/root. But that issue aside: would there ever be a reason to choose opengapps over gapps, if I had the option of using either? If yes, what are the advantages of choosing opengapps?

Moreover I changed the script in META-INF/com/google/android/update-script. For example I removed all the delete instructions and removed the optional part. Just make sure you have CR line endings (otherwise use dos2unix) when you change the script file. e24fc04721
