is anyone using this on the deck? i like to play offline on my way to work or in flights and having the xbox gamepass running would be awesome since there are just so many amazing light games, like hollow knights. has anyone done this? or do i need to buy a steam version of these games

The steam deck is a natural home for a lot of game pass type of games. I know, because I've been playing them, or attempting to. Especially with the release of Pentiment and the ongoing project of porting the Persona games, these are perfect for curling up in bed with but the current process for getting game pass on a deck is more effort than the average person is willing to put in for not much return.

Frankly, it's kind of shit. Cloud gaming is a neat stop gap feature for someone who has a phone and nothing else but the input lag makes anything that isn't turn based or requires some modicum of reaction time nigh unplayable, and on top of that you're constantly having to sign back in, reconnect to servers, sync save data etc. I realize that it's still early days for the steam deck and it's yet to reach mass adoption, but if you could add installing and playing game pass titles natively onto it, that would drive up sales of both the device and GP subs. It would be a no-brainer, effectively turning it into an Xbox handheld among its other features.

A while ago I tried to set up windows on my steam deck so that I could play some game pass games, but it ended up being sort of annoying after setting it up so I never really used it. With the looming christmas holidays coming up though I decided to set it up again in order to play a few games while traveling, and it is in a much, much, better place now with community tools.

Even with windows set up as best as it can be, SteamOS is still much more better designed to be a console OS than windows is. I think using Windows on the steam deck only really makes a ton of sense specifically for GamePass games and for steam games that just do not work at all on Proton.

I decided to go with Windows 11 because it seems that the windows on deck forums believe it is the most compatible. With Windows 11 the Wifi works out of the box (Windows 10 requires you to manually get the drivers), which makes the remaining steps much easier. Additionally I am unsure if every tool I will link in this post works for Windows 10 as well as 11.

Steam Fan Control allows you to change how the fans operate. By default on windows there is no fan curve on the deck, which means the fans will sound like a jet as you use them. With Steam Fan Control you can tell it to use the SteamOS fan curve, which will mimic the fan curve on regular SteamOS. You can do this by right clicking on the icon for it in the windows tray, and changing the fan control to SteamOS.

The Steam Controller tool provides a mapping of the controller on the deck in two modes: Desktop and Xbox360. In Desktop mode you can use the steam deck controller as a mouse and KB directly and use it to navigate the computer. In Xbox360 mode it will act as an Xbox 360 controller when dealing with buttons that a 360 controller normally has.

Autologin will make it so you don't need to put in your password when launching into windows, and with a few extra commands, also stop you from having to enter your password after recovering from Sleep.

this is extremely helpful! i tried windows on my deck a bit ago (for fortnite) and didn't know about most of what's in here, so was pretty disappointed in the results. gonna give it another shot i think (the dream of portable non-streaming fortnite remains alive)

Step 2: Add Greenlight to Steam as a Non-Steam game. To do this, go to the bottom left of the Steam screen and click "Add a Game", then choose "Add a Non-Steam Game". You will need to click on "Browse" and go to the home/deck/downloads folder and add it from there. It will appear in that folder if you download from Firefox, otherwise, you will need to manually navigate to wherever downloaded if you configured it to go somewhere else.

Nothing on here is new to its pre-existing status on SteamDeck. Xbox apparently thinks SteamDeck owners don't know how to read. Gamepass native on Steamdeck will, unfortunately, never happen. It would require the Windows Xbox App to run natively on a Linux machine. It's still odd to me that Sony supports Steamdeck better than Xbox does. But it is Linux after all.

@GamingFan4Lyf linking an MS account would be more troublesome for steam. If that were possible, then ubisoft and EA games on steam would be directly playable instead of forcing us to also download their drm crap and stores. The most sensible option for MS is to make the xbox app compatible with Linux for better or for worse.

What we are saying is that Valve won't let a GP user use their catalog of games freely on steam. It's essentially a lost sale for Valve. Also, games on GamePass may not be cross compatible on steam due to the differences in how they store save data or how moddable that game is. It's not like steam has a "play anywhere" feature like GP has. Games have to be coded to work on those features, and would cause issues if ported as is on other platforms.

To play Immortal: Fenix Rising on Steam Deck you can install Ubisoft Connect manually as a non-steam game or use the Lutris app for simplicity. You can find the Lutris app in the Discover Store.

When are they added to my game?

These items are then added to your inventory the next time you boot Sea of Thieves. But if you were already in-game when you claimed your Twitch Drop, you must reboot Sea of Thieves where they will then be added to your inventory.

Note: Should you change your Twitch account password, you will be required to relink your Twitch account to Sea of Thieves.

When in the world of Sea of Thieves, be it searching for lost treasures, waging wars across the decks of rival raiders or simply sharing stories whilst drinking grog with your crew mates, all players should treat one another with respect.

Occasionally, XBOX will offer perks in its Ultimate Game Pass in the form of promotional codes which can then be redeemed in exchange for additional items. Please note that buying Ultimate Gamepass will not automatically add these promotions to your game - these will still need to be claimed and then redeemed.

While the Steam Deck has enough power to run such games natively, the ace in the hole with Xbox Cloud Gaming is that it bypasses the issue of anti-cheat systems in the likes of of Gears 5 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection not working with Steam OS at present.

When the collision was impending, the order on the steamer was to starboard the helm instead of porting it, the schooner having previously kept on her course, as the rules of navigation required her to do.

A technological dream impossible just four years ago, the ROG Ally is the first console PC that can truly run all 3D games, even the most demanding on the move. Pulverizing the Switch and far surpassing the Steam Deck, its AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor is a war machine that won't shy away from Cyberpunk 2077 and other greedy titles...

Asus ROG Ally is a very attractive device. At the specification level, we are facing a platform that clearly surpasses its main competitor, Steam Deck, since what it offers at the CPU and GPU level is very powerful. ff782bc1db
