MacLife's Chris Pereira was less impressed, scoring the game 2 out of 5, and writing "The weapons, setting, music, and enemies are all uninspired, and the gunplay is too weak to compensate. As a result, Dead Effect is a thoroughly run-of-the-mill first-person shooter." He was critical of the controls, the similarity of the levels, the enemy AI, the dialogue and the voice acting. Although he praised the sound effects, he concluded that "for every positive element there's something to gripe about on the other end, whether it's the dull upgrade system or unremarkable shooting. Dead Effect is an uninspired first-person shooter that does nothing original, proving most memorable for its hilariously awful dialogue."[14]

Normally I'm a fan of the Mass Effect series, and I bought all the current games and DLCs for them, but recently discovered that none of the DLCs for ME3 work when I try to launch the game in offline mode. To me this is a huge rip-off since I now own a useless game (Mass Effect 3 Digital Delux and all DLC items for it), I don't have my own internet connection and I rely on public networks to download anything, this online only BS needs to stop or EA is just going to lose more customers!

The title of this topic is the problem, I paid good money for Mass Effect 3 and all its DLCs, but I can only run base game (none of the DLCs will work), EA needs to fix this by making it so single player content works properly in offline mode. I don't mind going online to activate everything, that should just a one time thing and the content works after that, but having to do that any time you try to run a game is ridiculous. I'm one of many people who don't have a steady internet connection yet still try to run games, but the online only idiocy ruins this, its going to get to the point where we won't be able to run anything if this keeps up.

When I try to run the game offline, I'm not connected to any network at all yet the game fails to activate any of the DLCs, they only get activated when I'm online with a public network, there is no one-time activation it tries to activate every time I launch the game every time.

If you say that Mass Effect 3 and all it's DLCs work in offline mode, give me step-by-step instructions that I can save to my system and use while offline (The instructions must work 100% to be usable)

I used to play ME3 offline, but after last Origin client update i have the same problem. I had to use tethering to go online and validate DLC to play, but the solution is only temporary: a few days later the same *... unable to validate DLC while offline... Congrats Origin, you lose another client.

Offline demise and offline renaissance is the paradox of new retail writ large. Swiss multinational financial services company Credit Suisse projects that by the time the numbers are in, more than 8,500 stores in the United States will have closed in 2017.1 Consensus estimates predict that 25% of all shopping malls will shrink or close in the near future. At the same time, online-first brands from suitcase retailer Away to eyewear maker Warby Parker are successfully opening pop-ups, showrooms, and full-blown stores.2 Not to be outdone, Amazon.com, the granddaddy of online-first, has opened bookstores and is rumored to be planning to open 2,000 AmazonFresh grocery stores over the next 10 years.3

Is the internet dead?1 This is not a metaphorical question. It does not suggest that the internet is dysfunctional, useless or out of fashion. It asks what happened to the internet after it stopped being a possibility. The question is very literally whether it is dead, how it died and whether anyone killed it.

But how could anyone think it could be over? The internet is now more potent than ever. It has not only sparked but fully captured the imagination, attention and productivity of more people than at any other point before. Never before have more people been dependent on, embedded into, surveilled by, and exploited by the web. It seems overwhelming, bedazzling and without immediate alternative. The internet is probably not dead. It has rather gone all-out. Or more precisely: it is all over!

But if images start pouring across screens and invading subject and object matter, the major and quite overlooked consequence is that reality now widely consists of images; or rather, of things, constellations, and processes formerly evident as images. This means one cannot understand reality without understanding cinema, photography, 3D modeling, animation, or other forms of moving or still image. The world is imbued with the shrapnel of former images, as well as images edited, photoshopped, cobbled together from spam and scrap. Reality itself is postproduced and scripted, affect rendered as after-effect. Far from being opposites across an unbridgeable chasm, image and world are in many cases just versions of each other.14 They are not equivalents however, but deficient, excessive, and uneven in relation to each other. And the gap between them gives way to speculation and intense anxiety.

If circulationism is to mean anything, it has to move into the world of offline distribution, of 3D dissemination of resources, of music, land, and inspiration. Why not slowly withdraw from an undead internet to build a few others next to it?

In the current zeitgeist, mostly meaning publishing and media Twitter, Internet Novel is a misnomer, a false-cognate, because the two novels put forward by that very zeitgeist as being emblematic of the form and genre aren\u2019t really about the internet. Fake Accounts and No One Is Talking About This are primarily concerned with social media, mostly meaning Twitter, and its effects on the mores of white upwardly mobile media writers.

Usually, so it goes in the Internet Novel, these effects are for the most part negative. Online, communication is more subterranean and referential than before. We communicate by way of thin, tensile epigrams. In memes and ASCII drawings. Online, we bathe in the glow of each other\u2019s affect. Perpetual access to knowledge has turned everyone into a pedant. Did you see that tweet? Did you see that video? I sort of read an article. We are distracted. We are unable to be political. We are unable to effect change. To save the world. To imagine a world in which people do or do not wash their feet. We read Reddit. We scroll our For You pages. We watch a video and wonder how it ended up recommended to us. We watch that Netflix show. We do not watch that Netflix show because the star tweeted something bad once. We laugh about media people getting fired for old tweets. We marvel at how anyone could fail to delete their tweets before getting a new job. We nervously search our tweets for bad politics or for things that might, in the next five to ten weeks, be considered bad politics. We wish we had better digital hygiene. We tweet about our cardio. We take pictures of books we read. We do not read. We tweet instead of reading. Instead of writing. We get into a Twitter fight with a man who looks like a big toe because while we were reading he interpreted our tweets as being a reference to him. We do not think that being online is healthy. We distrust what being online has done to us. We pantingly paw at our screens. 2351a5e196
