Hi, Ive had freenas running for about a year without any problems, but now it won't boot and I suspect that the USB drive is wonky: shared object "libedit.so.7" not found, required by sh. Is it possible to mount the drive on a different...

Hello lawrence and other users, so i believe yesterday i asked this question on your Live feed on your youtube channel, although you gave a brief short answer i did not understand. Kindly elaborate.I would like to run pfsense and freenas on one hardware(one computer) but since i have never tried it before i need advice. Currently i am running pfsense independently from freenas(2 seperate computers). This is taking too much space on my cabinet and need an intergration on the two on one hardware. Is this possible? and if so, then what type of hardware specs would i need so that i do not run into issues with them? Thank you

I was ale to get Emby 4.2.0.5 running on Freenas 11.2. After a little messing around with the new version I realized that my log file was spitting out errors when I would try to tag specific movies that the automated tagger didn't grab. It would tell me that it didn't have permission to write the file, and I understand why. My emby jail doesn't have write permission, and I am wondering how to set that up. I have spent awhile looking for others who have had similar issues or ANY documentation on how to add write privileges to emby in freenas but have come up empty handed.

Yes I added the media folders to the jail via gui (Jails -> emby -> Mountpoints -> Add). So the uid was different so I changed it inside the jail to the uid of the media folder owner of the freenas host system. Now emby is the owner of the mounted folders, so write permissions are working. But I didn't changed the gid inside the jail, because I need two different groups for my media folders so I can limit samba access to different user privileges.

I am trying to find a way to move all my files from freenas to OMV.

I cant use the same drives as my OMV server doesnt use 3.5inch drives.

Freenas and OMV are both running on different servers.

I tried moving them using my Laptop but its very slow as I believe its going through my laptop.

I have been reading about rsync but im not very versed with that, I am willing to try if its the best option.

Any ideas or suggestions?

The conceptually simplest way to put certs into jails is to assign them unique hostnames on a domain you own, and use DNS validation to get the cert. You'd have one cert for freenas.yourdomain.tld (for the FreeNAS UI), one for nextcloud.yourdomain.tld (for Nextcloud, of course), and so forth for any other jailed apps you wanted. Deployment of the certs would depend on the application; you could use my script to deploy the cert to FreeNAS itself, a simple webserver restart (in the jail) for Nextcloud, and whatever else is indicated for any other applications. e24fc04721
