Hi - I have an RBR40 Orbi Tri-band router with 2 satallites. I have it connected to a Motorola Arris modem set to bridge mode. I setup and configured the Orbi router with the IPhone App which was very easy to do. One satellite is located upstairs and the other satellite is located in the basement. The ISP is Comcast / Xfinitiy. The internet Wifi speed I now have with this system is excellent - 200Mbps everywhere in my 2 story home with basement. The only issue we have is Wifi calling on the cell phones. I have an IPhone 11 (Verizon) and have not experienced any issues, but my wife has an IPhone 8 (T-Mobile) and we have had issues with her receiving incoming calls and text messages. Sometimes there will be no audio on her IPhone 8 on incoming wifi Calls and sometimes it will just go directly to voicemail when calls are placed to her. My daughter has an IPhone 10 (Verizon) and has the same issues stated above with as the Iphone 8 with Wifi calling. Not sure what can be causing this. Not sure if an IOS issue or some settings need to be adjusted in the Orbi router. That is the only complaint so far with this Orbi system and its been up and running in my home for 3 days now.

Tested 2 out of the 3 phones (IPhone 11 and IPhone 10) last night and today with no wifi calling issues. Will test the IPhone 8 when I am able to, but I do not suspect there will be any issues. Voice quality is very clear too, I noticed an improvement after making the above changes. Thanks for you help.

So for starters, we setup one of our clients with 2 NSA4700 with one as a failover as well as Unifi U6Lite AP's across the building. This building is very reliant on WiFi calling due to poor cell service in the building. Since this upgrade, WiFi calling has been very hit and miss to the point where clients are reporting this issue to me multiple times a day due to them needing 2FA text codes for some accounts which requires them to leave the building to receive the codes, and I unfortunately don't have any control of the SW to even attempt to make any changes myself, and my superiors insist that there isn't anything wrong with the SW configuration. Easy for them to say when they aren't the ones on site each week hearing these complaints daily.

This issue happens with iPhones, as well as android devices. All phones are running on a Guest VLAN. DHCP runs off of the SW. Not sure what other information I can provide that would be helpful. Ive seen other posts on other forums saying that Wifi calling issues are fairly common when using SW's if they aren't configured correctly for it.

I recently installed my test stack of meraki gear and I cant seem to get WIFI calling to work on my mobile devices. All devices (mobile phones, laptops, TVs, tablets, IoT devices, etc) are connected to the meraki WIFI SSID successfully.

I recently had to setup my WiFi to properly handle WiFi calling and this is what I found to help me with it. So far my calls are clear and I haven't had any user complaints. I didn't do the pre-survey portion of it because I inherited an environment that this was already done to. I followed the steps for configuring the SSID and Traffic Shaping and that got it working for me.

Hello everyone. I'm getting reports of WiFi Calling not working consistently from users. The location where WiFi Calling is needed has very poor AT&T cell service inside the building. Our Wifi network is solid with excellent coverage. I have checked the phones that have reported issues and all settings are correct for Wifi Calling. Some of the issues when calling are, not being able to place a call, call going straight to voicemail, or texts and emails coming through if a cell signal is found by phone. Just was wondering if anyone else has had this issue. It is intermittent and not a consistent problem. Im working with AT&T(getting nowhere, go figure) and Meraki(analyzing pcaps)

Just upgraded from os 18 to 20 and it looks great! I wanted to give wifi calling a try (we are in the bush - usually have to go outside to make calls). Ive read my carrier supports it, its enabled in settings, but when i try i get "Mobile network is not available. Connect to a wireless network to make a call". Obviously I am connected to wifi, when I look in permissions i see a list under " other app capabilities" that includes: have full network access, view wifi connections, change network connectivity, view network connections. I feel that some or all of these are what needs to change. I'm guessing using the adb shell is the way but I dont know the commands and cant even identify the phone app in the package list. I'm in over my head but would really appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction. (I did search this subreddit and some other sources but found no reference to changing permissions with adb)

That wifi calling option is always there. To check if it actually works, connect to your wifi network, type ##4636## in your dialer which will open a testing menu, go to Phone information, 3 dot menu icon at the top, select IMS service status and in that you will be able to see if Voice over WiFi is available.

Thank you for replying to my call for help. I've double-checked the items in the BLACKWIRE document. I believe my Wi-Fi Calling profile for Verizon is correct because it works when I can get my phone to make the connection. My Wi-Fi calling profile points to wo.vzwwo.com and is set to Voice. Regarding the 4 WIFI Calling common issues:

Multiple different iPhone and Android cellphone will not maintain a Wi-Fi calling on my Ruckus WLAN. They also will not automatically establish the Wi-Fi Calling connection. The only way I can get my iPhone 14 to connect is to toggle Airplane mode on and off several times. Then it will maintain the Wi-Fi calling connection for a while, sometimes for an hour or two, but it always drops off back to a plain WIFI connection.

This happens with 2 different iPhone 14's, 2 different iPhone 13's and an Android phone. My iPhone 14 automatically establishes a Wi-Fi calling connection at my work office, friend's house (Tenda router), Dr. office on their guest wi-fi. I think this proves my iPhone is configured correctly.

If my iPhone has a Wi-Fi calling connection and I place or receive a phone call, the call is properly logged in the Wi-Fi Calling log in Ruckus. So for this reason, I think my firewall is probably correct and the issue is something with my WLAN configuration in Unleashed. I could be wrong because I'm not a firewall expert.

If someone could share an R510 WLAN configuration that works reliably for Wi-Fi calling, meaning that phones automatically establish a Wi-Fi calling connection, then I could configure mine to match. If mine then started working, I can compare my current WLAN config with the correct one. If mine still didn't work, then I would know that the problem is most likely not the Ruckus.

I have a large home property with a combined total of 30 MR52 & MR84. My main issue is Wifi calling especially when roaming throughout the house and property. I changed to the 802.11r adaptive combined with WPA2, PSK. This has not really seemed to help much with wifi calling.

@HankBeltram, probably will also not work well for same reason as already mentioned, high latency. Have heard of some getting both Wifi calling and M-cell to work but is hit and miss based on beam/gateway loading, speed, latency at any given time. As a rule these will not work well if at all and when they will or won't work is a dice shoot.

"Cell phone over WiFi on satellite will not work well due to the inherent higher latency."

This isn't true with other providers, Exede/Viasat has seemless Wifi calling from a cellphone. Unfortunately, I went with Hughes without researching this, because my Wifi calling worked so well on a friends Exede setup, I didn't think it would have been an issue with another provider. I feel (maybe) either Hughes deliberately delays Wifi calls, so people are made to use Hughes' VoIP calling, at an additional cost, or their equipment is not as good as Exede/Viasat's.

I have no problem with Netflix or Amazon Prime Video though. 2351a5e196
