Zavier Leslie Cabarga (b. 1954[1] in New York), popularly known as Leslie Cabarga, is an American author, illustrator, cartoonist, animator, font designer, and publication designer. A participant in the underground comix movement in the early 1970s, he has since gone on to write and/or edit over 40 books. His art style evokes images from the 1920s and 1930s,[2] and over the years Cabarga has created many products associated with Betty Boop.[3] His book The Fleischer Story in the Golden Age of Animation, originally published in 1976, has become the authoritative history of the Fleischer Studios.

In 2014 Cabarga transitioned from graphic, book, logo, and font design as his primary occupation to that of fine carpentry and cabinet-making. After completing construction of his own Tiny House on wheels, a design based on the Vienna 1900 style, he went on to create a custom interior for a 1953 Spartan Royal Mansion RV in the Art Deco style.

Cartoon fonts are designed to capture the playful, fun, and expressive nature of comic book storytelling. They often have bold, irregular shapes and may include elements that mimic hand-drawn letters.

Comic Neue was designed with the idea of improving the Comic Sans typeface. It includes both uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and punctuation marks. The font comes in two variants, both of which include light, regular, and bold weights, with oblique equivalents.

The Qarmic Sans font is a variant of Comic Sans but more rounded. It can be used for free for both personal and commercial projects. The font includes uppercase and lowercase letters, symbols, and numbers.

The Billy font is a modern, rounded font that can be used for personal projects. If you want to use the font commercially, you will need to purchase a license. The font includes uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

Comic and cartoon fonts are distinctive typefaces that capture the playful and lively essence of comics, cartoons, and illustrations. They often convey a sense of fun, humor, and approachability in various design projects. Here are the characteristics that define comic and cartoon fonts:

Comic and cartoon fonts are bold and draw attention, making them perfect for modern design. They can be characterized by their boldness, whimsical shapes, and playful nature. They are a fantastic choice for designers that are aiming to infuse their projects with humor, charm, or a touch of artistic whimsy.

I have created fonts for many top cartoonists and illustrators including Jillian Tamaki, Jules Feiffer, Emily Carroll, Paul Pope, Julia Wertz, Ben Clanton, James Sturm, Wendy MacNaughton, Dustin Harbin, Scott C, KC Green, Vera Brosgol, Sara Varon, Fiona Smyth, Box Brown and others. My fonts have been used in books published by Drawn & Quarterly, First Second Books, Scholastic, Penguin Random House, Koyama Press, and more.

Your custom font will be in OpenType format and will comprise multiple versions of each letter that alternate to appear hand-made. Fonts can include a wide array of accents, symbols, foreign characters and ligatures.

You can do it in two ways. Print the font generator templates, write in all the letters with your favorite pen, scan & upload to the generator OR do what I did by downloading the template as a gif, bring into photoshop and write in all the boxes with your wacom tablet. Check out the font I made in about 10 minutes:

The C.L.A.W. is a clandestine network of professional Northwest cartoonists founded and ultimately concentrated in the south Puget Sound region. Our mission is to gather talented Washington State cartoonists of great skill and humongous egos in frequently secluded gatherings during which the secrets and mystic arts of their sublime craft are practiced. Behind closed doors and away from prying eyes, the most pointless and silly of rituals will be freely indulged. And we give a scholarship to an art student every year!

VTC Letterer Pro is brought to us by Vigilante Typeface Corporation aka Larry Yerkes who is a tattoo artist, font designer and freelance Illustrator. This one has been around for a while and I remember downloading it back when I was scouring the net for free fonts.
