The Snowdrop Festival (Czech: Slavnosti snenek) is a 1984 Czechoslovak comedy film directed by Ji Menzel, based on the book by Bohumil Hrabal, who plays a cameo role in the film. The film is set in a small village of Kersko. The film is about the lives, hobbies and relationships of people living in a small village.

On November 24, 2020, JTBC announced that filming for Snowdrop was temporarily halted after a supporting actor came into close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.[34][35][36] The following day, JTBC confirmed that filming would resume after all cast and crew members tested negative for the virus.[36] Filming was completed in late July 2021.[37]

I' ve just finished watching the film "Catching The Music" by Stephen Wade on Folkstream.net. What an inspiring piece of film. Snowdrop is a tune I've wanted to learn for while and the film ends with this. If any one could point me in the direction of tab or recordings/versions to look up I would be grateful. I know there is a tab on the tab section of the hangout but I can't get my computer to download it. If anyone has not seen this film I think it is well worth a watch, the whole site is great.

This movie is based on texts of Bohumil Hrabal, world-known Czech prosaic. It's a story (in a form of a mosaic of short episodes and pictures) about the sadness and happiness of inhabitants of Kersko (Kersko is a small woody area full of cottages and roods). These people are both simple and sensitive, they have their own pleasures (e.g. Leli is a collector of cheap, but inutile things) and the greatest delight of all of them is a hunting. Crude poetics of amateur hunting is screened by dreamy pictures of this area. Menzel mixes sentimental lyricism and rough (but not vulgar!) humor and the outcome is the never-ending landscape of continuous life in the proximate nearness of nature. The performances of actors are brilliant. Both Rudolf Hrusinsky as a Franz and Jaromr Hanzlik as a Leli have nonrecurring charm bottomed on a pain and inebriation. Only the music is not perfect: Jiri Sust usually assembled his film music from his older works and in this movie there is many quotations.

The cinematography was very beautiful, aside from that everything was just meh. I watched this with my parents. It's one of their favorite films and it's also generally considered as a classic in my country. I can see why because the humor and the characters are very Czech-ish. On the other hand what the fuck.
