Scandal Makers (Korean: ) is a 2008 South Korean film written and directed by Kang Hyeong-cheol and starring Cha Tae-hyun, Park Bo-young and Wang Seok-hyeon. This was director Kang's first film and the highest grossing Korean film of the year.

Former teen idol Nam Hyeon-soo (Cha Tae-hyun) is now in his thirties and works as a radio DJ. A young woman named Hwang Jeong-nam (Park Bo-young) sends stories about her life as a single mother to the radio station Hyeon-soo works at, telling him she is going to meet her father. He then finds out that he's her father when she shows up at his apartment with her son Ki-dong (Wang Seok-hyeon). She tells him that her real name is Jae-in and that her mother was Hyeon-soo's first love Jeong-nam. Hyeon-soo doesn't believe it at first, so they undergo a DNA test and the results confirm that they're related. Jae-in dreams of performing on stage as a singer, but Hyeon-soo fears that if she does, their paternity scandal might get out. Because of Jae-in's rising popularity, Ki-dong's father Park Sang-yoon (Im Ji-kyu) finds her. They meet and chat, with Sang-yoon initially under the mistaken assumption that Jae-in is romantically involved with Hyeon-soo. When Ki-dong later goes missing at Jae-in's performance, Hyeon-soo realizes that he really does care for his daughter and grandson. After news about his daughter and grandson got leaked, he wasn't faced with damage to his career due to taking responsibility of them in the first place, low popularity, and news about a disgraced film star beating up a scandal gossip journalist. With encouragement from Ki-Dong's kindergarten teacher, he changes his image to a responsible older man, which is warmly received by everyone. At a Christmas recital, Sang-yoon reconciles with Jae-in and Ki-Dong, rekindling their love for each other.

Scandal Makers was released in South Korea on 3 December 2008,[3] and topped the box office on its opening weekend with 473,725 admissions.[4] It continued to chart well finishing with over 8 million tickets sold becoming the highest grossing Korean film of 2008. The second highest grosser was The Good, The Bad, The Weird with 6.6 million tickets,[5] then The Chaser with roughly 5 million tickets sold.[6]

Former teen idol Nam Hyeon-soo is now in his thirties and working as a radio DJ. One day a young woman named Jeong-nam shows up and claims to be his own daughter. She also has a son whom she claims to be Hyeon-soo's grandson. Their relation is proven via DNA tests by Hyeon-soo's brother. This leads to Hyeon-soo attempting to avoid a scandal concerning him having children "unknown" to the media.

A film I've watched at least a dozen times since seeing it a few years back, and each and every time, I find more and more to love about it. While it is pretty predictable, it is so well crafted and confident in its style and comedy, that it more than makes up for its slight predictability. Sometimes its not about coming up with something new, but rather telling a familiar story, just doing so better and with more gravitas.

Nam Hyeon yang tukang cari bahan gosip buat artis lain akhirnya ya kena batunya. Khas film korea era 2000an sih. Persis komedi Indonesia. Belum terlalu kompleks. Lika-likunya jadi kakek lucu sih. Jadi inget film era sama, yg dia punya bayi saat muda. Film korea juga ga sih. Ayah muda gitu. Lupa judulnya.

Oscar, a has-been celebrity, is dying to get his name back up, when an opportunity finally appears albeit in form of a scandal: his love child from the past, Karin, suddenly shows up, with a baby of her own named Gempa.

Chinese mainland actor Tong Dawei, who is already the father of three young children, is going to be a grandpa. This did not happen in real life but in a comedy film named Scandal Maker or Wai Gong Fang Ling 38.

Directed by Ahn Byung-Ki, the Chinese film Scandal Maker is a remake of a South Korean comedy film. In the film, the main character He Zhiwu's apartment doorbell rings and a young lady appears with her son. The woman tells the 38-year old He Zhiwu that he is her father and he is also the grandfather to her son.

Want to know what the movie's about? Here's the plot: "Indonesian official remake from Korean movie with same title. Oscar, a has-been celebrity, is dying to get his name back up, when an opportunity finally appears albeit in form of a scandal: his love child from the past, Karin, suddenly shows up, with a baby of her own named Gempa." .

Adapting the story from the Korean film of the same title by Kang Hyeong Cheol, the Indonesian version is a bit boring . Even this film produced by MD Pictures and Dapur Film feels a bit simple and not very interesting to watch. In fact, the quality of acting provided by Vino G. Bastian, Beby Tsabina and Jared Ali looks quite promising and enjoyable.

The rest of the storyline of this film is exactly the same as the Korean version, starting from the meeting between Oskar and Karin, then Gempa who is an expert at playing the piano and cards, all of this material is in the Korean version of Scandal Maker (2008).

Scandal Makers (2023) can be said to be like a copy and paste of the film of the same name by director Kang Hyeong Cheol. The plot feels monotonous and there are not many significant changes in the film directed by Jeihan Angga. At least this film was saved by the chemistry and brilliant acting of Vino G. Bastian, Beby Tsabina and Jared Ali.

Looks like Korean movies will end the year on a bit of a high note, as the No. 1 spot at the box office went to the local film SCANDAL MAKERS (aka OVERSPEED SCANDAL, aka SPEED SCANDAL, aka GWASOK SEUKAENDEUL) (and even SCANDLE MAKERS, which I assume and hope was just a typo).

Anyhow, on with the real top-10. For the most part, this was a pretty good week for Korean films, as they accounted for the entire top 4 films. Plus ANTIQUE down in eighth, that gives Korean movies half of the top-10. Not bad.

Like binary stars rotating endless around each other in the vastness of space, so too do Darcy Paquet and I once again revolve around each other in universe of Korean movies.* Or, to be less oblique, Rob Boylan of the Orlando Weekly quotes Darcy and me in his article about the Korean film industry.

The peg for the article is the release of yet another remake of an Asian horror film in Hollywood. This time TALE OF TWO SISTERS gets the remake treatment, turning into THE UNINVITED. Not enough reviews of the film to have a rating on Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic yet, but so far the early word seems pretty decent (not great, but not bad). I will probably check it out when it comes to Korea.

But why on earth was this movie called THE UNINVITED? That was the English title of the Jeon Ji-hyun horror film SA INYONG SHIKTAEK. Sure there have been plenty of other films and things called Uninvited before, but it seems quite odd to use the title from one Korean horror film to remake another Korean horror film.

Nos. 3-5 all went to Korean films, led by the new movie CITY OF DAMNATION (nice English title), the Korean comic version of INFERNAL AFFAIRS. In fourth was the big hit of season, SCANDAL MAKERS, which was now made 44 billion won (about $32 million), followed by A FROZEN FLOWER, which is now at 23 billion won ($17 million).

Also just like last week, the only two Korean films in the top-10 happened to occupy the top two spots. SCANDAL MAKERS did the best by attendance, but A FROZEN FLOWER made slightly more money, due to its 18-rating that kept out students (and their lower admission prices). A FROZEN FLOWER now has pulled in well over 3 million admissions, or 21 billion won ($16 million).

No other films did anything too notable last weekend. BE KIND, REWIND came in 12th, and is now up to 35,000 admission and $180,000. LET THE RIGHT ONE IN was way down in 26th, but at least the Swedish vampire film has made about $430,000 (not bad, as Swedish vampire films go).

You can catch SCANDAL MAKERS with English subtitles at the Lotte Cinema theaters in Myeongdong, Busan and Ansan. Each location appears to be showing the film with subtitles throughout the day, so you have plenty of chances to see it.

Not a big surprise, but it looks like that once again Korea will be going Oscarless this year. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the nine films that have made it to the next round of voting for the Best Foreign Language Film category, and Korea is nowhere to be found.

"If we all pool together, we can make a change. A positive change towards a more human sports industry, which will help and protect its athletes." These are the words of Athena Constantinou, Managing Director of APC Sports Consulting, recently delivered at the annual Sports Financial Advisors Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona. A passionate pioneer of financial literacy in sports, particularly in Europe, Ms. Constantinou was also interviewed for our documentary, "Beyond the Game" when I traveled to Cyprus earlier this Fall for the continuing film production. As an independent film maker, I "vet" each and every person appearing in my documentaries and it was more than apparent when I first spoke with Ms. Constantinou that she is someone who's vision for financial freedom for athletes needs to be shared globally. Quite opposite of the less than savory that often surround professional athletes, her firm, APC Sports Consulting, has made it their personal mission to change the tide of athletes' financial misfortunes and instead support and nurture all they can be. APC, under Ms. Constantinou's seasoned guidance, has crafted financial literacy programs for sports teams, associations and federations that initiate education at the student level while continuing to work at maximizing the professional athletes' ongoing financial security and branding. The holistic approach they take with each athlete further analyzes and plans for the various needs and goals at each life stage transition from student to professional to retired athlete. I look forward to ultimately sharing her interview with you in "Beyond the Game" to be released in 2018. ff782bc1db
