In this post we analysed the film and therefore it contains spoilers. Make sure you have watched the movie. If not, check our movie introduction to discover the story, other curiosities and watch the trailer.

Dulquer Salman is quite subdued in the film but makes it up in the last half an hour. The film belongs to Aditi Rao as she has the best role and performs superbly. Not only does she look beautiful but the way she showcases emotions like jealousy, frustration, and love was good to see.

The film is filled with so many drawbacks that everything cannot be put up here. Firstly, the basic plot chosen by Vrinda is horrible and showcases nothing new. A top-notch actor like Dulquer Salman is pushed aside and is lost in translation. In so many scenes, he sleepwalks in his role and one wonders as to why he even chose this film.

The basic drawback of the film is there is no bonding between the couple. The film starts on a weird note and why Dulquer behaves in such a way with his wife is not established properly leaving the audience clueless.

She showcases nothing new and right from the beginning, her narration lacks clarity and basic emotion for the audience to connect. Even after having seasoned stars like Dulquer and Kajal, the film looks so dull and outdated.

Salmaan is self-assured as the garrulous hubby but comes across as endearing rather than annoying with his non-stop chatter. Hydari as the supposedly long-suffering wife and Aggarwal as the complex therapist are both adequate in their respective roles. But what we are left with is a film making a plea for male chauvinism to not be entirely lost in a storm of feminism. Somehow, it feels unlikely that was the intended message of the female choreographer-turned-filmmaker Brinda Master.

In her directorial debut, Brinda goes after eye-candy visuals and cheesy storytelling. Every step in the story is exaggerated, and this melodrama fails miserably in evoking sympathy towards any of the characters. The fights and demands look ridiculously silly. This cliched scripting trope of delaying a conversation so that the movie can be two and a half hours long is visible here too. And to achieve that, we have some pointless humor and even a rap song featuring Dulquer Salmaan where he is bringing a revolution in Pondycheri. Preetha Jayaraman is helping Brinda in making the movie look like a glossy ad film. If chopping off unnecessary scenes is considered good editing, then Radha Sridhar has done a terrible job. I felt bad for Govind Vasantha when I heard the song based on Fish Rock.

The shooting of Hey Sinamika had commenced in March 2020 and the makers had reportedly planned to complete the shoot in a single schedule. But since lockdown was imposed in the wake of coronavirus outbreak, shooting of several films had to be stalled considering the safety of the cast and crew. Then after months, the makers were permitted to resume the shooting of films by adhering to the safety guidelines issued by the government. The shooting of Hey Sinamika had resumed after a gap of almost seven months. Confirmed! Kajal Aggarwal and Dulquer Salmaan to Share Screen Space in a Tamil Film (Watch Video).

The film marks the debut of popular choreographer Brinda, a national award winner who has composed dances for films in multiple languages. The plot tracks the journey of a couple and the roller coaster ride their relationship takes when the dissatisfied wife wants out of it. While the film has great look and style, it could have done with a stronger content.

Sadly, this film is bent on painting Yaazhan as a perfect man, while Mouna is shown as a fool for not appreciating his love unconditionally. This film squanders the opportunity to be an intimate movie about relationships and the importance of maintaining a healthy space between couples. Instead, it settles on complaining: why all girls are like this only ya?

The story of the complicated love triangle is written by famous Tamil lyricist Madhan Karky, and it stars Dulquer Salmaan, Aditi Rao Hydari and Kajal Aggarwal. The film is directed by choreographer-turned-director Brinda and the music is composed by Govind Vasantha.

Every character in the film is well-defined, yet the reasoning for their behaviours is still a mystery. For instance, Mauna hates Yaazhan for being clingy and talkative and she is ready to go to any length to divorce him, but she suddenly wants him back when Malarvizhi is half way through her assignment that Mauna herself had requested.

While the answer to why Mauna hates her husband has been clearly established, there aren't enough reasons presented as to why she wants him back. The storyline then gets predictable, with Malarvizhi developing feelings for Yaazhan and the film falls under the typical template of how the two women start fighting over a man. What happens next? Who will Yaazhan choose at the end? You will have to watch the movie to know it.

Though the screenplay tries to repeatedly make you feel lost, the aesthetic beauty of the shots in the film pull you back to sit through it. The colour palettes used are a treat to the eyes. Kudos to cinematographer Preetha Jayaraman, art directors SS Moorthy and Senthil Raghavan, costume designers Archa Mehta and Khushbu Banerjee for this visual treat. 17dc91bb1f
