Our 120-acre family-owned and operated farm includes u-pick and commercially harvested blueberries, strawberries, peaches and seasonal vegetables. We planted our first crop of blueberries in 2010 and currently have 40 acres of blueberry bushes, five acres of peaches and 15 acres of strawberries. We also have picturesque fields of sunflowers each season and zinnias in the spring and fall. We welcome guests during our winter and spring u-pick seasons and again in the fall during our Fall Festival, a family destination to remember.

2023 FIELD UPDATE: Flowers are a weather dependent crop. The cooler temperatures we experienced in late spring stunted the growth and overall yield of our sunflowers and zinnias. As such you will notice the flowers are not as tall and the field is not as full as it is normally. This is the unpredictable nature of farming, some years we get a bumper crop while others are not what you hoped for. The field still has many beautiful areas for photo opps; however, you-pick flowers will be more limited and our bloom time may not last as long. We suggest you plan to visit the last week of June or first week of July for the best experience. We will continue to share updates each week.

Spring has sprung and flowers everywhere are beginning to bloom. In Nokesville, Virginia, thousands of tulips will be pick-able starting today at the 2023 Festival of Spring at Burnside Farms. This festival, now in its 12th year, will showcase over 150 varieties of tulips and over 30 varieties of daffodils.

The festival will run April 4 to April 26. Tickets for April 4 through 11 are on sale now, and other dates will open later. Advance purchase tickets cost $19 to $25, and a limited number of day-of tickets will become available daily at noon for $25 to $31. With admission, guests can pick five flowers. Additional tulips are $1 per stem, and daffodils are two for $1.

Before the festival, the students will present free public performances at 2 and 7 p.m. Feb. 10 in Preus-Brandt Forum on campus. Director Brett Elliott, cast members, and Cal Lutheran psychology and criminal justice faculty will participate in informal discussions with the audience after each show.

Seven productions were chosen for the festival from among more than 200 in Southern California, Arizona, Guam, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah. Judges will select four to six of the best and most diverse from the eight regional conferences to showcase at the national festival in Washington. This is the fifth time a Cal Lutheran play has been selected for the regional festival.

Skip the day ticket and purchase "The Whole Kit and Caboodle Season Pass" instead. Includes 362 days of admission to all festivals, events, The Farm Park, and Pick n' Play. Excludes limited attendee events and farm add-ons.

When you are at the farm you will come across crops that are not on the What's Pickin' list. If this is the case, please do not harvest them as they are not yet ready to be harvested. If you do harvest a crop that is not on the list, you will be charged per pound for what you picked on your way out.

Your admission ticket is an all-inclusive pass to enjoy The Farm Park, Animal Encounter, explore the entire farm, and gain access to the Pick Your Own Experience. Admission is required to enjoy these experiences. The Pick Your Own Experience is enjoyed while supplies last. All crops are paid for on your way out. If you pick the crop it is less per pound than if we pick the crop.

Your admission pass is a full day pass to the farm. Most people spend between 4 and 6 hours at the festival enjoying farm to table meals, fresh air, open spaces, farm-inspired rides, shows, and more. With your wrist band on you are able to come and go and regain same day admission.

The corn in the corn maze is called field corn. It is used for corn chips, corn tortillas, and animal feed. It is not as sweet or tasty as sweet corn. We ask that you do not pick the corn. However, if you do, it is paid for by the ear (1.00) on the way out. ff782bc1db
