After your PC restarts, Windows will automatically look for and install the network adapter driver. Check to see if that fixes your connection problem. If Windows doesn't automatically install a driver, try to install the backup driver you saved before uninstalling.

This can help solve connection problems you might have after upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11. It can also help to fix the problem where you can connect to the internet but can't connect to shared network drives. Network reset removes any network adapters you have installed and the settings for them. After your PC restarts, any network adapters are reinstalled, and the settings for them are set to the defaults.

Try to connect to the same network on a different device. If you have another Windows PC in your home and a USB to Ethernet adapter, try to connect using that PC. If you can connect, the source of the problem is likely due to your first PC. If you can't connect to the Ethernet network on either PC, it might be a problem with your router, internet service provider, or USB to Ethernet adapter.

This can help fix the problem where you can connect to the internet but can't connect to shared network drives. Network reset removes any network adapters you have installed and the settings for them. After your PC restarts, any network adapters are reinstalled, and the settings for them are set to the defaults.

Today we are the 22nd of June 2022.

I have the same problem.

Not sure that what I read here can help because when an update "destroyed" my Ethernet Adapter, it just means, in my case, that we can use the WiFi but not the Ethernet, and in my case, wired PCs are more important than WiFi.

So if there would be somebody less calm and judgmental about how a person's freaking when this happen could find us a solution, that works, because I waited and rebooted many times and the problem started right after an update, 3 weeks ago. I didn't have time to take care of it so, yes, I took the time and stayed calm but still today I only see the 3 curved lines and a dot and this prevent me from using my 1Gbps speed for transfer.

This morning I went to Device Manager, un installed all network adapter and rebooted. They all came back in a minute and I still have the same problem.

My cable is connected directly to the PC, I can see the lights lit at the switch and behind the cable connector on the PC, the Network Settings, Ethernet says UnIdentified network (No Internet). The second Ethernet 3 is not connected.

I'll keep digging but anytime you know about a solution, it'll be appreciated to get a reply.

Thanks guys.

A network adapter is a crucial part of your computer as it connects it to the local network and internet. However, there may be times when you may need to enable or disable Wi-Fi and Ethernet network adapters for reasons such as conserving battery life or keeping your device offline.

I am having a networking problem with Hyper-V on Windows 10 pro. I installed Hyper-V in order to create some test VMs, but could get the networking to function properly. I removed Hyper-V, but there is still a virtual Ethernet adapter stuck somewhere, and I can't find it. Not listed in Network connections or Device manager. If I try to change the static IP of the physical adapter, I get the following error: "The IP address 10.2.2. 100 that you have entered for this network adapter is already assigned to another adapter 'Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter' on this computer". I would really like to get rid of that so that I can take another run at Hyper-V on this machine.

After doing a lot of investigation of this problem I have finally found the solution at this link:

In a last desperate attempt to avoid System Restore and similar major surgery, I tried this again, but this time in addition to the shutdown command also unplugged the power cable, waited a few minutes, then put it back in and restarted the machine. Upon which the Ethernet adapter was visible in Device Mgr etc again, and fully functioning.

I turned off the automatic startup for Hamachi, but when I turned my computer on yesterday I didn't have wifi at all. I checked my network adapters, nothing but Hamachi / Ethernet. My other computers in the house were working fine. So I tried to turn on Hamachi to see if it would help, tried resetting, nothing. Next I uninstalled it, restarted, still no wifi. Now my computer only had an ethernet adapter and no hamachi adapter. I did some more digging and went into my devices, it didn't show up there either until I found out it was hidden. Clicked properties, and got error 45 : "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)" ??????

Finally I decided to just uninstall the drivers through the device manager, and reinstall them...but it never showed up again since then. It's completely gone, not detected, not hidden anymore, completely vanished. Luckily I don't have a huge amount of things I needed to pull off my laptop, so I've got everything except my work program on an external drive, and plan to reformat in the next few days once I transfer that to my work computer. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this until then though I'm all ears...I've had nothing but trouble from this program, even when I used to use it years ago...this is the worst computer problem I've ever had though, praying it didn't completely fry my adapter somehow and everything just fixes itself on a full restore..

Running Windows 7 64 bit on desktop computer. Installed driver for Win 7 but computer does not recognize the deveice. It does not appear in Device Manager. I did plug the devide in too early, before installing the sofware from CD. Cancelled the autoplay install, installed the Win 7 driver but no connection. When I plug the ethernet cable into the devicethe light does come on steady.

In Device Manager, delete the driver for the old adapter and choose the option to also delete the driver files. Do the same for this new adapter. Make sure the old adapter is NOT plugged into your PC. Reboot.

Install the new adapter according to the instructions. The new adapter may have to be plugged into your PC when you install the driver. OR NOT ! Read and follow the installation directions to know whether or not to have the adapter plugged in while installing its driver.

I have recently upgraded to Win 10 and hence to vagrant 1.7.4 and virtual box 5.0.2 r102096. While bringing one of the VM up using vagrant up, vagrant kept failing, but created new Host only adapters in the system on every attempt. Now I have 6 virtual host only adapters.

Open "Network connections" right click on the adapter you want delete and select properties. Under Networking -> click on configure. go to Driver tab on the popup and click on uninstall. This will remove it from the list.

It should find a RedHat network adapter driver, follow the prompts and you're in business.

** I never bothered to locate the actual subfolder of the driver on the virtio-win-1-1 image, I just let windows do it for me. **

I just finished building my PC and I'm using the Asus ROG STRIX X670E-E as my motherboard, however it seems like I got a weird issue where I don't have an ethernet adapter? First I noticed that connecting the ethernet cable to the board didn't do anything, so I went to the device manager and... nothing?

I've actually tested this both on Win11 and Ubuntu 18.04 and can't seem to get ethernet connection on either, so I'm starting to think I was sent a faulty board... Did anyone here have a similar issue and was able to solve it?

I have tried to download the driver for AMD PCNET Family Ethernet Adapter (PCI&ISA) from the AMD website but that did not work either. I have a functioning virtual machine of Windows 95. However, it was created from an image of a physical machine. The ethernet adapter works fine in that machine but it does not have any driver installed - doesn't require one apparently.

You can use certain settings for optimum GigE Vision streaming performance, including reduced CPU load and smaller likelihood of dropped frames. Use the following settings for the Gigabit Ethernet adapter jumbo packet and receive buffers for the best performance.

If you uncheck it and apply then recheck it and apply it should come back.

Or just reboot the windows VM.

It's like ejecting a usb drive. Once you remove it and re-insert it should see it again.

At least you didn't eject the storage ?. I've done that stupid thing before.

Edit: ejecting it in Windows should not change the VM config in VMware so a reboot should reattach the nic with no config changes.

If a laptop is connected to the campus network in a Housing location via an Ethernet adapter, you will need to register the MAC address of the adapter. The laptop will have its own MAC for wireless connections, but will use the MAC of the adapter for all wired connections. Follow the instructions below to find the MAC address for an Ethernet Adapter used with your Windows or Mac OS X laptop. e24fc04721
