Glenn said the prospect of raising a banner has been discussed among players, and he said the Seminoles remain focused on finishing out an undefeated season in the Capital One Orange Bowl in spite of a playoff snub and a host of bowl game opt-outs.

The Seminoles were leapfrogged by two one-loss teams in the playoff committee's final rankings, setting up the possibility that they could be the last undefeated team from a Power 5 league still standing if No. 1 Michigan (13-0) and No. 2 Washington (13-0) both lose in the College Football Playoff.

They've split starts and given up seven goals en route to the Bruins tying their record for best start with the 1937-38 team. Ullmark, the reigning Vezina Trophy winner voted as the top goalie in the NHL, is 3-0-0 with 1.00 goals-against average and .962 save percentage. Swayman is 3-0-0 with a 1.34 GAA, .957 save percentage and one shutout. They're averaging 4.50 goals per game, tied for second with the Los Angeles Kings and behind the first-place Detroit Red Wings (4.86). So many scoring options including Mikko Rantanen, who leads them with 12 points (five goals, seven assists), defenseman Cale Makar, next with nine (three goals, six assists) and center Nathan MacKinnon, third with seven (four goals, three assists). The defending Stanley Cup champions are undefeated through seven games. The other two teams are undefeated through six games. We're judging this by date and time, and Colorado and Boston each play Thursday while Vegas doesn't play again until Friday. That right there gives Vegas a head start. This could be over without the Golden Knights needing to win again.

There are currently five undefeated teams ranked as the top five teams according to the latest AP Top-25 Poll. Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State and Washington all boast 8-0 records. Although it is unlikely all will remain undefeated, this gives the committee a tough decision in the first poll.

The final spot in the CFP is much more up in the air. In the AP Top-25 Poll, Florida State currently occupies that final spot, with a perfect 8-0 record. Following them is Washington who also remains undefeated and is looking to overtake FSU for the fourth CFP spot. However, Oregon sits behind those two at 7-1, and make a case for No. 4 with its only loss coming to No. 5 ranked Washington.

Texas will play No. 25 Kansas State this weekend, the only ranked opponent remaining on its schedule. The Longhorns will need to go undefeated down the stretch and hope for some upsets of teams in front of them to have a chance.

The team finished with a 9-0-1 record and is the only Dukes squad to go undefeated. That year's team also set a JMU record by allowing only 75 points, and the Dukes were remarkably efficient in their efforts in close games.

An undefeated season is so impressive that examples of the feat being achieved in professional sports are few and far between. The 1972 Miami Dolphins stand out as a shining example. The team went 14-0 in the regular season before cruising to a Super Bowl Victory, tallying the only undefeated season in NFL history along the way.

Even the great Tom Brady, known widely as the greatest football player of all time, was never able to achieve undefeated status on one of his teams. The closest he came was a perfect regular season with the New England Patriots that ended with a crushing defeat in the Super Bowl to the New York Giants in 2007.

KANSAS CITY - Kansas City defeated South Dakota State in its Summit League home opener, winning a close five-set match.
