Is a format developed by the International Digital Publishing Forum. It is characterized by the XML- and XHTM-based optional use of CSS styling. The main feature of this format is the use of reflowable text (word wrap) which makes it possible to adapt the image to different device displays. The ePub file is a zip-archive with an .epub extension.

if the additon of --toc and --chapters does not produce the desired results, leave these out. Sometimes the pictures inside the epub are invalid to be used with latex so you need to convert them in the process :

Extract images and other media contained in the epub container to the path DIR, creating it if necessary, and adjust the images references in the [LaTeX] document so they point to the extracted files, with the option --extract-media= DIR . Select the current directory which also contains the ePub file. Add --extract-media=. which means extract in the current directory, which is also $HOME/Documents

What if there was a app or plugin to import epub book into markdown books in especial obsidian format (because there is a problem with that too). From as far as i can see, books are perfect format for markdown and html already have too much needless complication for a book. It could convert people to use markdown more, which is good for obsidian and markdown users. what do you think about it guys? I think adding books to our vaults is much better than just usual highlight importing since we can block reference and even append stuff like tags inside the text.

I have an epub reader app. Now I want to allow pdf files to be opened with this app after converting pdf to epub.I'm looking for good library or resources for this. I have tried the following library but it is throwing the following error:

Trying to convert a pdf file to ePub to read on iPad and eventually upload to the Apple store. I have tried Calibre, Wondershare (paid version) and pdf to epub converter. I also have the native inDesign file used to create the pdf and tried exporting it as an ePub file. Of course it worked but when viewed on the iPad, the formatting was off. Every ePub file I have created has had formatting issues when viewed on the iPad. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

But you have to be aware of limitations in the export--InDesign epub export is not at the point where you can expect everything to look the same as you have it laid out. There are specific fixes for the exported html and the css.

In addition to Liz's boks, you might check out the video tutorials I've done on lynda.com for this, called InDesign CS to ePub and the iPad. There are 3 diff. titles, one each for InDesign CS4, CS5, and CS.5. Working on another for CS6. Here's the link to the CS5.5 one: _cs55epub

Another good place to ask InDesign > EPUB questions (or any epub question) is on Twitter with the #eprdctn hash tag; ebook production folk use that tag. Not sure if you're into Twitter or not, but it's worth it for that alone.

It's kind of amazing that e-books and the epub spec is so popular and yet the state of making ebooks is still kind of in the semi-dark ages. If it weren't for Anne-Marie and Elizabeth I wouldn't be on the verge of finishing my institute's first InDesign to ebook conversion.

Are you looking for a PDF to EPUB converter on PC or for the ipad? The same with you, I have a PDF that I converted to epub in PDF Converter so I could import it into iBooks. It worked but the color images all came out looking like photo negatives.

The hardest lesson I had to learn is that with epubs, you surrender any fantasies of control over formatting, layout, everything that you think is creative and cool. It's no wonder you think it doesn't look right. Epub is exactly like CSS/HTML in that you set up your design with your divs and your type styles and all that, but then it's going to look different on each platform. Don't think it's ever going to look like your InDesign pages. It's very cut and dried with minimal control over line breaks, page breaks, and how type and art line up. Once you get used to it, however, it's kind of liberating.

With the OCR technology, the most accurate technology to recognize national languages, artificial languages, and programming languages in scanned PDF documents, it's even easier to convert image-based scanned PDF files to ePub. You can save the time and trouble of having to retype text. More importantly, the OCR technology of this PDF to ePub converter guarantees you conversion accuracy. The converted ePub files will carry exactly the original contents in PDF documents.

It is the best PDF to ePub converter I've used. Once I used some free online PDF to ePub converters, like Zamzar, To ePub Online Converter, and so on. The output ePub files from these free online PDF apps are not that satisfying. Aiseesoft PDF to ePub Converter surprises me!

Does anyone have an ePub converter that actually saves in HTML5? I have tried Kotobee Author and Calibre but they save in HTML 4/XHTML. An update of the Mozilla Composer/SeaMonkey IDE (Internet Developer Environment) came out in Feb. 2018 but that also saves in HTML 4. A lot of IDEs and ePub apps claim to support HTML5 but save to HTML 4.Any suggestions?I don't want to manually migrate my code to HTML5 and then have the ePub converter wrap it as HTML 4. Or am I making too big a deal of this? Thanks, in advance.
