I installed an Eaton RF640 dimmer and RF642 companion dimmer. I created an association in Smartthings which works, but only the 640 works when using the actual switch. How do I pair/associate the 640 and 642? Do I do it through Smartthings or to each other?

If you are using zwave direct association, then you would store the device ID of the 9640 in the association group list of the 9642, that is, you tell the trigger device what targets it is allowed to send commands to. Also, you have to be using association group 3 for dimming, not association groups one or two for that particular model.

Inovelli has the zigbee Blue series about to land (pre-orders clearing customs now) and more supply coming as fast as they can crank them out. Their corresponding zigbee White-series aux switch looks great (also should be widely available soon along with the Blues).

I have Eaton dimmers, switches, and companion devices through out my home. We like them and they have been reliable (no failed devices). Some don't care for them because they don't have 72 ways to tap them. Frankly, my SAF would be in the basement if i setup anything that required anything more than a single on/off. It is also nice that the dim function is a separate control. I would try a couple and see what you and your family think.

I have the old Z-Wave version and I've tried just about everything to try to get Switch A to consistently pay attention to Accessory A. Sometimes it's a 1/2 second lag (which still isn't the best from the SO's perspective), but sometimes it can be 15-20 seconds or more.

I have exactly same problem with Eaton UPS Companion 1.03 and Eaton Ellipse ECO. "Communication with the Device has Failed" all the time. %uFEFFAlso when i open Eaton UPS Companion%uFEFF it crash most of the time.

Have anyone found fix yet? I have same problem with 5110 devices... Latest IPP and the communication is lost many times each day. Most of them restores after two minutes... some will be on error for all day. I can't believe this is not getting fixed ASAP. It is 2015 already... In future I think we will buy APC UPS-es instead. this is unacceptable...

In hopes of best resolving this issue for all Spiceheads contributing to this post and still having difficulty, please reach out to me directly. My e-mail is JeffreyCKennedy@eaton.com. I will follow up accordingly with each of you and provide a plan of action to resolve these issues for you. Thank you for your patience to this point.

something worked out for me after few years of dealing with this problem (of course, not constantly): I've just changed a (access) password in a way that it does not contain exclamation mark (that's: !)... maybe it's an issue with (some) special characters?

I wouldthink so too. But I tried creating the rule and leave it on for half anhour. The connection were fine during that time. Then I removed the rule again, and the server lost connection after about 2 min. I then reapplied the rule, and the connection came on immediately.

Okay, then again it wouldn't be the first time I witness strange behavior in this field! I'll try your firewall fix, although mine would be the host firewall since both devices are on the same subnet. What did your rule consist of? TCP, UDP port numbers to permit?

I'm having a similar issue - I'm losing connectivity to the ESXi server(s), and notice if I remove the Connector, then re-add it, that communication comes back. I'm running IPM 1.42 using the CentOS 5.5 appliance downloaded from Eaton.

When do you plan to release the IPM virtual appliance 1.42 ? I'm trying to keep 1.40 working with a Eaton 9130 1500 UPS and lost many hours to try to solve communications problems. Adding "Shutdown module" causing communication errors with the appliance and restarting the Eaton-IPM service or rebooting the appliance is causing communication errors with ESXi 5.5....

So, in your IPP configuration on the computer/server, select the "Settings", "Shutdown" section, then edit the "Power Source", and in the "Access Parameters" section, enter the login and password that you configured for the NETWORK-MS card.

My UPS is Powerware 9130 1500 with a Network Management minislot 100036826 card, firmware upgraded to HF release. I'm trying to use the IPM 1.40 vApp on vmware 5.5, the IPM 1.42 windows version, the IPP 1.42 windows version, the IPP 1.10 windows version (on my CD). I have the same "communication lost" problem with my power source. After entering the pwd into Settings-Shutdown-Configuration section, the communication still working for about 1 minute. To get connected again I must remove the power source node and add it again....it works for about 1 min. again (in the 1.10 version, but in 1.40 and 1.42 it's not as simple to keep connected again.)

Hi, I have the same problem running ipp 1.42 build 109 on ubuntu 10.04 and windows xp. I have the UPS conected to an ESXi Server via USB and then I atached the USB to virtual machine with linux 10.04. Sometimes the comunication failure lasts 2 minutes but sometimes it lasts hours. I don't know how to fix the problem if anybody can help me I would be very grateful!

Hi all, with the deadline to install the server with a trustable shutdown solution I forgot the Eaton IPM software and use an open source solution (NUT for Network UPS Tools). I have only one physical server using one UPS with a network management card. Maybe it can be difficult to make it run with many servers or UPS.

Also,I used the Eaton virtual appliance to install NUT Server on it (eliminate the need to install and configure a new linux server) its a return on investment after all the hours I passed to try to make Eaton IPM work !

Even when I force the PC to run on batteries with the UPS, bOS does not recognise it. I have also tried to use the UPS generic but it will not work because the UPS comm system with the PC is through USB. Virtual COM ports do not work either as such is avoided in WIN10 for not truly COM serialised communication.

Hi, my Eaton UPS works like a charm. By the question you raise it confirms you guys do not understand how the different drivers from UPS manufacturers works and confirm that the bOS UPS function does not work with W10. I guess not many bOS users actually install UPS therefore not many errors have been reported. Should you know how UPS works you would get to know that most, at least the standard (Eaton is one of those) and non-chinese UPC devices come with their own driver and utility to be ran on top of the OS, therefore when the utility detects a power failure in through the bios ACPI driver the UPS kicks-in, the problem of your bOS utility is that it ignores the bios ACPI state and driver and checks windows state, when actually Windows knows nothing about the UPS because it is being managed by the manufacturer driver / utility rather than running on a Windows utility. Check my screenshots. P.S. This is the same error you guys have in bOS when subtractions involve two variables that change, the subtraction is wrong when used on a graph. Or the same error bOS has handing wake-on-lan, bOS cannot put a system to sleep (e.g. NAS server) because you rely on windows i/o application facade rather than using the network level. Anyway, you guys need to improve QA automated testing.

our UPS driver is based on Windows HID USB driver (by default most of the UPS are recognised that way (APC, Socomec, Samurai power...)), which so far worked for every customer who used UPS and nobody realy complained about that, however we accept your comment and will try to do our best to improve it.

You cannot power off the computer via Wake on LAN by default, you would need some 3rd party software for that. WoL is ment for powering the computer/device on. For power off we only support windows devices and bos client needs zo be running on them, because bos client is the one that turns the device off.

does the Grinder find UPS as a battery in Windows? Our system is reading values directly from Windows. It is strange that even though you updated the drivers for UPS the UPS is not recognized in the Windows. Usually when you install the correct drivers on the Windows, the Grinder recognizes UPS as battery. 152ee80cbc
