Set up silently. Launch setup in silent mode so that users do not accidentally skip updating the DirectX runtime. You can do this by launching dxsetup.exe with the following command: path-to-redistributable\dxsetup.exe /silent or by calling DirectSetup and not showing any UI.

You can then distribute this package of files and launch DirectSetup in silent mode or run dxsetup.exe in the command shell in silent mode. Remember not to guard this package by any version checking of files, and make sure that your users cannot opt out of running the DirectX setup. Either of these events creates a fallible installation process.

I have windows 8.1, and I just bought my subscription. After clicking the install link from the dashboard, the MSI file will begin installing as usual, but it will fail everytime when it gets to the directx installation. I know for a fact that my...

This is my first spiceworks post but here it goes. I have a Windows Deployment Toolkit installation on Windows Server 2008 R2. The deployment is configured for installing Windows 10 1803 and works perfect....except for one thing. We use Asus H370M-Plus/CSM motherboards here and the base network driver does not support vlan tagging or advanced power options for wake on lan. There is a PROWinx64.exe executable for Intel Ethernet Connection I219-V that can be downloaded from the Intel website but it does not have any switches for a silent install. I was able to extract the .exe and find a file called dxsetup.exe I can get this .exe to run silently and install fine by running cmd as administrator and using the command "C:\Users\Administrator\Downloads\PROWinx64\APPS\PROSETDX\Winx64\ dxsetup.exe /qn". However on the deployment server I do not know how to set this up. I choose new application > Application with source files > fill in the details > choose the source directory as e:\H370M-Plus\PROWinx64\ Then in the command details I tried using the following:Ā

This resulted in the deployment getting hung on the open blank window and at the top it shows the path C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\DeploymentScripts\Wizard.hta this is the screen it stays at. The windows stays up and never goes away until you exit. Then looking at the adapter settings the vlan tagging is still missing.

I am able to run the dxsetup.exe /qn command on the workstation itself for example I can use command line to path to the folder c:\users\administrator\downloads\PROWinx64\APPS\PROSETDX\Winx64\ then run the dxsetup.exe in quiet no GUI.Ā

So... create a Install.bat file in the working directory folder that has the dxsetup.exe /qn command in it but then call it as an application using cmd.exe /c Install.exe keeping the working directory the same?

I set the deployment up the way your deployment example was set up. I then ran the deployment without using /qn and everything installed correctly with no errors but then the adapter is missing the vlan tagging still? By taking everything out of the Winx64 folder that contains the dxsetup.exe file I think it is now missing some important files but it did not error out.Ā

It is possible to do an unattended installation provided youre connected to the internet (most corporate and academic sys-admins should be!). Essentially you need to hijack the automated DirectX9 installation from the Windows Update service. This was accomplished on Win2kĀ  it should be basically the same procedure for other windows flavours. On a machine that doesnt have DX9 you need to prepare: find (and preferably empty) your %temp% directory (use set at command prompt for where)Ā  setup files will be downloaded here. Goto Windows Update and add DX9. When you start the update 2 directories will appear in %temp%: IXP???.tmp (6 files) and DX?.tmp (133 files) or similar (? - random chr). Copy the IPX dir to another locationĀ  these are the only files you need. You can then run dxwsetup.exe /windowsupdate to do an automated installation (and no prompting, of course). Im presuming the DX file locations are hard coded into some library or other as there doesnt seem to be a way to use local installation files (which are in the DX? dir). Im certain the more ambitious among you will find a way to do this!

So i've own dst since beta and i recenly changed pc. after redownloading it i quit during the first time setup as i had no internet. Now whenever i launch it it gives me the preparing to launch windows for 1 second, then closes. The dst process doesn't even get launched. My steam boarder(the one near the icon) changes green for a couple of seconds before going back to blue. Trying to launch the .exe gives me a bad image error and this window. I dont think any log is generated as the game/process doesn't even launch

Hi all, Windows 11 user here - followed instructions (firewall, directx9, uncheck compatibility) and was loading to blank server list. Went back to running compatibility mode windows 8 and it allowed me in. 2351a5e196
