This is a multitouch driver for ELAN, FocalTech and Synaptics touchpad for Mac OS X based on the documentations available and some ideas from VoodooPS2, ApplePS2 and Linux open source code. I have successfully accomplished everything so far and added many new features to take advantage the touchpad completely to make it close to Apple touchpad in every way. Also my driver is implemented with my own universal logic for all the features, so it can be adapted to all touchpads easily and I'm still improving these to achieve even better results.

My driver supports every hardware version of ELAN touchpads except version 1 (which is too old and can't find in existing notebooks will support that if i get some testers), mostly all available FocalTech touchpads and Synaptics touchpads (still experimental) with firmware version v7.5+.

NOTE: For Synaptics, it was developed based on my touchpad hardware i have, so support is limited to touchpad with firmware version 7.5+ only, but will try to improve support other hardwares also if users interested in my features and help me with beta testing.

Please read the below threads which explain the features after installing the driver, so you can understand and learn how to use every feature. If anyone still have doubts/issues then PM me to get help from myself (or) post them in other thread about issues so others can help you. I will respond to you mostly during weekends only for some time.

One more thing, current version of my driver is deprecated and so will not be continuing this. But, I will try to give you some support if there is a need before I finish my new version of driver for any issues which are not big enough for time being.

I would request you to go through plist editing for controlling the features (as I have a lot of them and its important users to know about those details, because it will allow the driver to be tweaked as you want and my default values are not going to be best for every touchpad or user) for now (will make my own prefpane very soon within 3 months, and its a promise). Going to update my thread which details the features every week one after another for keeping it updated with latest version.

I've worked very hard on this driver (especially ELAN v2, 4 and Focaltech without hardware) and will try to continue support in future. I do the development everyday with some time dedicated to this and many other projects. But i need your support so i can get more time to spend on these projects for improvements. Also we maintain this website without ads for all of you and it costs a bit for us to host

I would like to thank the VoodooPS2 team (Slice, King, rehabman and many others who contributed to the VoodooPS2) for ideas, Apple for their PS2 open sources which i've used as base for my driver and linux sources for the touchpad initialization and packet info.

Drivers are updated occasionally. Windows can update them automatically, or you can install the updated drivers yourself. It's important for you to have confidence in the updated drivers you install. Windows notifies you if it detects a suspicious or unsafe driver you shouldn't install.

Windows Update checks for updated drivers and software for your devices and install them automatically. Keeping Windows Update on is a good way to make sure your devices continues to work properly and you get the best experience with them.

If your device came with a disc, it might contain software that installs a driver. Before you install a driver from a disc, check the info that comes with it to be sure it supports your current version of Windows.

You can also search for new drivers on the manufacturer's website. Driver updates are often available in the support section of their website. Download the latest driver for your device, and follow the installation instructions on the website. You can usually double-tap or double-click the downloaded file to install the driver on your PC.

Occasionally, you might see a notification that a driver is unsigned, has been changed since it was signed, or can't be installed by Windows. We recommend that you don't install unsigned or changed drivers.

A digitally signed driver includes a digital signature, which is an electronic security mark that indicates the publisher of software and whether someone has tampered with it since it was signed. If a driver has been signed by a publisher that has verified its identity with a certification authority, you can be confident that the driver comes from that publisher and hasn't been changed.

If you see any of the following notifications when you're installing a driver, you should stop the installation and go to your device manufacturer's website to get a digitally signed driver for your device.

The driver doesn't have a digital signature or has been signed with a digital signature that wasn't verified by a certification authority. You should only install this driver if you got it from the manufacturer's disc or from your system administrator.

The driver hasn't been digitally signed by a verified publisher. The driver might have been changed to include malware that could harm your PC or steal info. In rare cases, legitimate publishers do change drivers after they've been digitally signed, but you should only install an unsigned driver if you got it from a device manufacturer's disc.

Unfortunately, there's no trustworthy source of info that indicates who has published an unsigned driver. Anyone can change the contents of an unsigned driver, and there's no way to know why it was changed. Most manufacturers now digitally sign the drivers they create before releasing them to the public.

A driver that lacks a valid digital signature, or has a signature that was changed after it was signed, can't be installed on 64-bit versions of Windows. You'll only see this notification if you have a 64-bit version of Windows and try to install such a driver on it.

I just did a clean install of Windows 10 Version 1909 and I cannot install the Synaptics TouchPad Driver listed on the drivers page of my laptop here. -en/drivers/selfservice/hp-14-dq1000-laptop-pc-series/29205783/model/310465...

Windows itself installs Synaptic SMBus Touchpad driver. Even if i delete and i try installing driver avilabe at hp for my laptop and window v 1909, Windows installs their default driver. I tried installing application available on windows store for synaptic touchpad, that fails to install.

My only requriement is to enable scroll edge on my touchpad so that i dont have to use arrows or on screen scroller. If there is any way i can enable that setting on windows default driver, i'll be happy with that too. Can you guide and help.

On Ubuntu 14.04 I just set vertical and horizontal hysteresis and high and low finger pressure to make touchpad feel smooth and nice. When I installed 18.04 I found that I can't adjust my touchpad any more (except a few options that are not too helpful in my case).

The synaptics config file can be copied to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d and given a higher number than the /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d synaptics.conf default. Then the synaptics touchpad driver overrides the libinput touchpad driver by having a higher priority.

I ran into problem after installing synaptics touchpad in ubuntu 18.04. My keyboard stopped working. So, I booted into the system (keyboard was working on login screen), mouse was working properly so I opened my mails from the history (I saved the commands in the mails using my mobile), I copied the following commands with enter (empty line after the commands):

The problem is not necessarily the missing Synaptics drivers, it is more the fact that the libinput driver settings are purposefully left generic so that the user or hardware OEM can adjust them as desired.

Rather than simply uninstalling libinput and installing Synaptics, you can still add Synaptics but to keep everything working you need to provide an "override" by removing/updating references to libinput specifically in relation to your touchpad ONLY and adding in a rule for Synaptics. 2351a5e196
