Roland Duo-Capture EX does not work with MacBook Pro M1 (2022). After connecting via USB the power indicator light comes on for a few seconds, then goes off. Uninstalled all previous versions of the driver, then installed driver using "duocap_m12d102.tgz".

I am using Roland Quad-Capture since 2018 as it was recommended by a few fellow Cakewalk users. It has consistently worked perfectly. Audio dropped a few times after Microsoft updates for Windows 10 installed, and I had to uninstall the driver and reinstall it again. As of the last Windows 10 update, the Roland plays audio, whether it's from an MP3, Wave, Cakewalk, YouTube, etc., and the audio drops and the Roland powers down. Now it isn't working at all. I reached out to Roland, and they said it's a driver issue. When I power down and reboot, the Roland powers up and when I attempt to play audio, it powers down again. I am curious if anyone is having or has had similar issues with the Quad Capture?

I have an AMD laptop with Windows 8 I will try it on it to see if it works. I switched to my Behringer I have as a backup and the Behringer works fine. The only thing about the Behringer I don't like is that it doesn't have a main volume control like the Quad Capture has and the Behringer also has an external power supply. I like that the Quad capture powers up by the UBS cable.

That sounds like more than a driver issue. The unit should be able to get power regardless of the driver status, it just won't talk to Windows properly without the driver. If you have the option to try some different USB ports on the machine, see if that impacts it, or if you have the option to try it on a different machine, see if the interface powers up there. There could be an issue with the ports being able to provide enough power or the Roland (or the cable) could have some kind of fault.

I'm trying to get my head around why this won't work, but essentially I have a brand new MacBook Pro running 10.15.4 OS and even after downloading the latest driver from Roland's website for this audio interface (it states the latest driver is for 10.4 so it isn't that old), I've followed the installation and its installed as I can see it in my system prefs pane, however, when you click on it, it states

Is anyone besides me having any issues getting the new Mac Sierra operating system to play nice with the Roland Octa-Capture interface? I have removed the old driver and installed Roland's new driver (with the proper updated Octa-Capture firmware) but cannot get the Audio-Midi program to find it. Running rescan still doesn't find the interface although the Roland unit confirms that it is connected to USB. I can't comment on your exact hardware & OS version, but I did have huge (YUGE I tell ya!) troubles with El Capitan. Every Mac OS "upgrade" causes dozens or hundreds of hardware interfaces to become obsolete due to driver issues. My musical partner (who I was working on this stuff for) has decided to dump the Mac and go back to PCs. I bought him a six pack of pale ale to celebrate the decision, as I'm no fan of Apple.

All it consists of is a way for the OS maker to charge 'royalties' to register a new or upgraded driver. I'm sort of surprised they (Apple & MS) haven't disabled the ability to bypass it. PowerTracks may be looking for your old sound card, but cannot find it. Try the following: With PowerTracks closed, open the PowerTracks folder (usually C:\pt) and delete the two files 'ptw.ini' and 'ptpa.cfg'. Launch the application, select your MIDI drivers, and perform a test to see if the problem is solved.
