Everytime I installed UHD 630 driver (any version), my laptop screen will go black and there is nothing that I can do to wake it up. Win+Ctrl+Alt+B hotkey doesn't work. But my laptop is running there. So I have to force shutdown and reboot.

However upon reboot, there is almost >80% chance that my laptop screen will just stay black after BIOS screen. During those time, I have to try Win+Ctrl+Alt+B hotkey. Most of the times it won't work, so I just have to force shutdown again and reboot then repeat the whole thing until it properly show Windows login screen. I can login blindly, but after entering the desktop I still cannot do anything without the display. It can take more than 20 mins or even hours to successfully show login screen so that I can login properly.

Contact Clevo (again) for support of THEIR laptop, Since you have dual graphics, you MUST use the drivers provided by clevo. And, if you are not on W10, version 1909, or 1903 (with all updates), you should be.

If the Intel wireless adapter you are using is listed below, please upgrade your driver to Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software version = 20.70.0 (or higher version) to resolve the connectivity issues in 802.11ax routers.

Step 3. Check whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit, and click to download the corresponding driver to your PC/notebook. Please read the detailed description marked in the red box to make sure you have a successful installation.

Step 7. Go to your [Device Manager] in your PC/notebook, find [Network Adapters] and click [Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC7260] to check if your driver version is the same as the information displayed in the red box(on the right) in Step 3.

@LAC I am not optimistic Norton can/will solve your problem. If you really cannot use your laptop anymore, buy a new one (or use a cheap old one, if available), but also a little box with USB/SATA attachment. If you are able take out the disk from the failing device, the box allows you to copy important data from the old laptop to the new.

LAC. If you cannot get the Driver Updater to uninstall, follow this Microsoft article to perform a "system restore", using a restore point PRIOR to installing driver updater. Use the second link and follow the instructions in the area labeled "Restore from a system restore point". When the recovery is successful DO NOT reinstall nor use Driver Updater. The same scenario will more likely than not reappear if you do.

Only if SoulAsylum's suggestions do not work for you or take too much time, you might also find somebody else who can take the disk out (not difficult on many laptops, but depends on the model). But not for to install it INTO another PC. Instead you can attach it externally to a working computer via USB to be able to save your data.

This is ridiculous and shameful by Norton.

Beyond Norton resolving the issues with my laptop, I will need to be refunded the cost of the Driver Updater, and I will need to be compensated for the time that has been taken from me and the stress and anxiety that this has caused me.

So, for a bit of background: I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 on an HP laptop, which uses a dual GPU setup. Before, I have been using it with just the Nouveau driver, but recently I wanted to add in a second monitor so I switched to the proprietary Nvidia driver 390.77 (which was something of an odyssey in itself).

Now the issue is that while the secondary monitor (connected through HDMI) works fine, the primary built-in laptop screen does not. During the boot-sequence, everything is displayed as normal on the laptop screen, including the grub menu and the startup log.

But the moment the log reaches "Started User Manager for UID 120" (at which point presumably the graphics driver is started up), the laptop screen freezes there and all further output is displayed on the secondary monitor. The Ubuntu display settings only recognize a single display (the external monitor), as does nvidia-settings.

Now, my personal suspicion is that it might have something to do with the dual GPUs, in that the Intel one usually outputs to the laptop screen and the Nvidia one to the HDMI port, but I'm not certain.

I have tried to use the Intel GPU instead, via sudo prime-select intel, but in that case the Nvidia driver didn't load at all, and I could only use the primary laptop screen while the external monitor wasn't recognized (i.e. similar to the behaviour under Nouveau). Additionally, this lead to a very low resolution that could only be circumvented by manually adding a new mode via xrandr.

The driver works well, (but because it once failed, i didn't use DKMS option when reinstalling), installation successful but the NVIDIA only detect my external monitor, i remember the driver installation also reconfigure my old xorg.conf file on /etc/X11.

For the first time I have a laptop with 2 GPUs, the intel processor's GPU and a dedicated NVIDIA GPU. I want to use primarely the intel GPU but to be able to run games on the NVIDIA one with prime-run.

I just performed a new Arch installation following the installation guide. To install NVIDIA's driver, I downloaded the nvidia package, removed kms from the hooks in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and regenerated the initramfs with mkinitcpio -P.

I tried restarting to generate a clean log but now it won't boot. It's the same behaviour as with the newest kernel. So the problem might not be the newest kernel afterall, but something else, perhaps related to this nvidea driver story.

I ran yay on tuesday night or Wednesday morning and after that it couldn't boot, presenting the aforementioned boot freeze behavior, which I then "solved" by downgrading the kernel, from which point the nvidia driver couldn't be recognized anymore by the GPU.

which isn't really a good sign. xid 62 is some internal microcontroller failure, so could indeed be a driver issue, but I find the preceding intel_bios crash weird already, is there a UEFI/firmware update available for this system?

Yeah you get that Xid, this is either a driver bug or something else being very wonky with your firmware. One thing you can try is opting for the linux-lts kernel and linux-lts-headers and then installing an older version of the nvidia driver via the ALA to test whether you can gain something stable.

The OS version is Windows 10 Home 21h2. After a very recent update, it can no longer detect and audio output. Upon entering device manager it said no Intel High Definition Audio Drivers were installed and attempting to update via device manager gave no results. If anyone know where I can get a driver for this or some other fix it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help, unfortunately there seems to be a problem with installing and deleting drivers as the corrupt one reappears after deleting and rebooting. The problem Driver is labelled as Other Devices and named Intel High Definition Audio(Error code 28). Would you know what to do?

Hello, how was you able to fix the outdated Intel Smart Sound Driver? I have a HP pavilion x360 as well that runs on Microsoft Window 10 (64-bit) and I'm experiencing the same problem like you had. The same person, BANHIEN, that helped you out, told me to install Realtek audio drivers from the Intel website since updating to a new OS (Windows 11), that the older OS (Windows 10) audio drivers won't be supported afterwards.

All was working well. resent update result in audio failure. There is no device installed and can not be fix with drivers from Microsoft update site or manually. When connect external speaker sound is ok.

Thank you a million for posting this solution. It fixed my absent internal speakers and microphone, plus missing Bluetooth mic, issues that I've been having for months. I thought it was a hardware issue, as both HP's and Microsoft's automatic problem scanners could pick up no issue. Now that you showed the issue is in some Intel system driver that didn't update properly, I now recall back that the last time things were working, my PC was running very hot (meaning it was doing an update). Then the audio stopped. HP and Microsoft (and Intel): you should be ashamed.

In response to requests from customers for more detailed lifecycle information to help plan and manage hardware and software deployments, Surface is offering additional guidance on our driver and firmware updates.

This lifecycle policy covers driver and firmware releases for Windows-based Surface devices. The lifecycle begins when a device is first released and concludes when Surface ceases publication of driver and firmware updates on the End of Servicing date. The following sections define the lifecycle policy and End of Servicing dates.

OS version support defines the operating system versions Surface supports during the Device Support Period. Surface devices will receive driver and firmware updates for Windows OS versions released in the prior 30 months. Surface will not support Windows OS versions earlier than those supported at device release. To see the minimum supported OS version for your Surface device, visit the Surface supported operating systems support page.

Software updates are a vital part of keeping your laptop or notebook running its best. It's important to periodically check for updates since they are released at different intervals. To make things easier, your Samsung laptop or notebook allows you to quickly check and apply updates. You can even customize the update options, so they'll only happen at times that are convenient for you.

Samsung Update allows you to download updates and drivers for your Samsung software. Select Start, and then scroll to and select Samsung Update.
