Catch the action of drag racing and drifting mid-week at Sonoma Raceway! Sonoma Drags & Drift gives people a safe, legal, and controlled environment to drag race and/or drift their cars, away from city streets.

Now, this may sound utterly stupid, but hear me out. I tested Speedcross VS Shocase (full off-road + drift VS full road + drift), and I saw no differente in score, but the handling changes a lot, BUT, it's really up to personal taste which one you'll use. BUT, drag tires, holy fuck, drag tires simply improve the handling so much! It's super smooth, feels great, and also, it actually improves your score! I'm getting like 20-35% higher scores with drag tires VS showcase and speedcross tires. Highly recommend everyone to try drag tires in their drift builds

UPDATE: After testing 2 AWD cars, both got way worse scores AND handling with drag cars, but I got data on around 6 RWD cars that got way better with drag tires, so: for RWD cars, go full drift (speedcross or showcase, whatever you prefer) + drag tires, and for AWD cars, just go full drift.

Join us for another Go Fast Drift N Drag! This family friendly event is filled with nonstop excitement. Whether you come to watch and relax or try out your skills, this is the event for you. As far as drag slicks, I usually use them in the motorsports series, but usually run street or sport on Horizon. Sometimes, I will even run stocks just for things like cheap builds or keeping a class in a certain tier for drifting. If you have questions, look for me on Xbox and I will be glad to try and help you out.

i know im not the only one that just wants to race any car i want online. a class based lobby for multiplayer just like the old days. Then drag and drift lobbies where there was literally communities of players in each of them and you would recognize names the longer you played in them.

Many new fly fishers recognize drag when it is pulled rapidly by the currents of the water. This was called major drag in early fly fishing literature. There is also micro drag (very subtle) that takes a keen eye to discern on the water. In other words, major drag is very obvious and the micro drag is not so obvious. They both lead to a refusal as far as the fish is concerned.

Trout tend to notice in an instant when the fly does not ride in the natural currents like the natural insects. Drag free drifts are a passive method to fish because the patterns move in a natural state. Drag applies to all styles of fly fishing as in wet flies, nymphs, dries, and even streamers. Sure we use active methods like jigging, swinging, pulling, and lifting flies as well when fly fishing but passive methods will take you the longest amount of time to perfect.

Drag and drop the pattern to the location you intend to fish by moving the rod! This is one of the most important line control exercises on the stream and it keeps your fly in the water much longer throughout the day! Especially for new fly fishers that often miss their target by a few feet to a new area. Rather than cast again, drag the pattern where you want it and continue on with line control mending.

These methods will provide you with plenty of tools for perfecting your drifts on the stream! They are a starting point for developing a mindset of controlled drifts for your next stream visit. Had a great camping trip with my kids (both boys just turned 8 and 11) the past few days in the Smokies. Duncan and Connor really enjoyed getting out there for their big adventure! How to get a drag-free drift fly fishing is one of the grails of the sport. Great dry fly water right next to the campsite gave up a dozen wild browns in the first 30 minutes using these methods. Best of luck perfecting your drift!

You cast the fly beautifully and accurately in the direction of a feeding trout. As the fly drifts downstream, first the fly line and then the leader, begin to straighten. The line then draws tight and the fly skates unnaturally across the surface, just shy of the target.

This is what is commonly called "drag" and, in all but a few specific situations, it's the antithesis of a good presentation. When dry-fly fishing, the fly must come to the trout as naturally as possible. Drag-free drift casting is when the fly floats gently downstream without giving the trout any clue that it is attached to the leader and fly line.

I often see anglers allow the line to land nearly straight, and then quickly feed out line, or mend, to extend their drift. This usually results in unnecessary disturbance on the surface and a less-than-perfect drift. This works sometimes, but the best drifts come from the slack you put in the line and leader before it hits the water.

Parachute CastPractice Drill. Practicing the parachute cast is much like practicing the shock cast, in that you benefit greatly from knowing just how much slack line you can introduce and still hit your target. Make a cast at 40 feet straight out. Now, with the same length of line, make parachute casts aimed higher and higher, and take notice of how much slack you can add. Experiment by trying to contain the waves only in the leader, as well as in both the leader and fly line. Illustrations: Joe MahlerReach CastPractice Drill. Place a target directly in front of you at 40 feet. Next, place another target 10 feet in front of you but off to the side. Make your cast, placing the line around the target. Keep moving the target farther to the side and practice this in both directions to be ready for fishing either side of the stream.Shock CastPractice Drill. Place targets in a line at 30 and 40 feet. First make a straight cast to the 40-foot cone. Then make another cast and 'shock ' the rod and line. How far back did the line recoil? Two feet? Ten feet? Remember that the end cone represents the end of the drift. Practice this until you are comfortable and confident in judging distances of both the outstretched line and the 'shock value. ' Developing good slackline casting skills will not only result in more hook-ups, but practicing and perfecting them will make you a better caster in general.Wiggle CastPractice Drill. Stretch out a measuring tape and place three soccer cones or other targets in a straight line at 10-foot intervals. Make your cast directly at the end cone and, after the stop on the forward cast, wiggle your hand as you lower the rod tip to the ground. Try to zigzag the line between the cones, or maybe just around one of them. Now vary the size of the wiggles and practice both right-to-left and left-to-right.

You can also make this cast with some excess line in your hands, and after the stop and shock, let the line slip through your fingers to feed extra slack into the system. The line should fall to the water in relaxed waves, adding distance to a drag-free drift.

Follow along on a journey deep into the Argentine Yungas forests to explore the country's most challenging fishery. Watch as gorgeous golden dorado rise to huge dead-drifted dry flies, as a crew of hard-core Argentine anglers share their affection for this incredible place.

Apparently the Jeep was running over 900 wheel horsepower. On top of that it still had full interior and air conditioning. It was built by a local shop who specializes in these types of cars. I thoroughly enjoyed participating in the street drag, but it was time to check out what else was going on.

All the way from Palestine was Noor Daoud, who happens to be the first female drifter from the Middle East. She was not competing, but she was out there for a few demonstrations. She normally drifts a pink Skyline R33.

The head drift judge was our very own Darren McNamara. His home country of Ireland was frozen over, so Dmac decided to spend Christmas in the Middle East with the rest of his family. This was Round 2 of the Drift UAE series, so it was not just for kicks. These points mattered to each and every one of the drivers.

It turned out to be an all-Saudi Arabia podium. The trip across the border was worth it. Hopefully drifting in the Middle East will continue to grow, and from watching this event I predict that it will get exponentially bigger in years to come.

This festival of speed was unlike any other event I have been to. I had so much fun being a participant as well as being a spectator. I just wish they would hold more of these kind of events Stateside. Instead of going to an event and getting all hyped up afterwards and taking it out on the street, you can just take it out on the track and then at the same time enjoy some professional drifting. Keep an eye out for more from my trip to the Emirates.

@Larry Chen OH&S is crazy over here, you'd need racing licenses that cost $150+, a helmet, maybe a suit, and depending on the track a parachute if you're running below 10s (if i remember correctly).

On the other hand, we've got a mad car scene over here.

I wonder if you guys would be willing to promote or even sponsor such an event?

We've got Eastern Creek which has a racetrack and dragstrip in the one complex.

We consider a drop of constant density and uniform interfacial tension rising in a linearly density stratified fluid. In the limits of weak inertia and stratification effects, we calculate the drag acting on the drop, the flow fields inside and outside the drop, the drop deformation, and the drift volume induced by the drop using the method of matched asymptotic expansions. Stratification or inertia increase the drag, and this enhanced drag acting on a drop is equal to 3+23+12 times the enhanced drag acting on a rigid sphere, where  is the viscosity ratio. This relation between the enhanced drags of a drop and a rigid sphere holds even in the presence of both of these effects (stratification and inertia). On the other hand, stratification does not result in any deformation of the drop up to the first order of approximation. At zero inertia and small advective transport rate of density, the drift volume induced by the drop rising in a stratified fluid is finite (but large compared to the drop's volume), unlike the drift volume in a homogeneous fluid, which is infinite. 17dc91bb1f
