Worms 3D is a 3-Dimensional iteration of the popular Worms game that has been released across a number of platforms, including the PlayStation 2, GameCube and Xbox, as well as on multiple computer operating systems. Players must lead a group of warfaring worms to victory against another player or the computer, using a range of weaponry.

At the beginning of each game, any players or computer opponents start with a group of worms given randomly-generated names, unless the team is a custom one that has been created by the player. Each worm has 100 health points, plus a pre-allocated number of several different types of weapon. Players must utilise the weaponry at hand, including Bazookas, grenades, parachutes and machine guns, in order to reduce the health of all opposing worms from 100 HP to 0. Players win the game once all opponents have been wiped out. The single player mode has 35 missions to play through.

The game offers four different modes of play: Quick Game, Practice Match, Body Count, and Campaign. Quick Game and Campaign are fairly standard where the point is to eliminate the other teams as fast as possible. Practice Match allows you to test your weapons on Worms that don't fight back. The most interesting single player mode is Body Count, where you control one worm against a never-ending wave of worms that get progressively stronger and smarter.

Super worms is a tiny 3D racing game for the PC. The game can be played by either one player or two players simultaneously (split screen). The objective is to drive your worm around the tracks as fast as you can to win the race, but there are also other ways to win. On each track you will find white balloons. These contain all kinds of items, which you can use to slow down your opponents.

But there is more than only racing, Super worms also contains a special battle game for two players. To win this game, you must try to use the available items to knock out your opponent. Each time you are hit, your worm loses one of its segments.

The ability to create "custom" settings for single-player and multiplayer battles was retained, but now some types of weapons must first be "opened" in a single player mode. In addition to weapons, worms also appeared in the arsenal of "tools" - for example, a laser sight or jet pack. Basically, the tool differs from the weapon in that it does not spend the move. Accordingly, now, in addition to first-aid kits and weapon boxes, boxes with tools also fall from the sky.

Worms have learned new techniques: for example, perform back flips - a high vertical jump, allowing you to jump on the far ledge. And, of course, the true worm humor, humor in everything - in life and death, in the weapons used, in the voices of worms, replays of the most comical situations ...

At this stage of life, unless you do not play games at all, it is hard not to know the mechanics of the Worm games. But if you have somehow missed it, l'll summarize: lead a team of worms to wipe out other teams worms.

EXTENSIVE SINGLE-PLAYER CONTENT:

* Campaign mode. Play through 35 single-player missions as well as 30 more in the Warzone Campaign that is tuned for advanced players.

* Bodycount mode! How will you survive with having just one worm pitched against never ending spawning enemy worms that get increasingly tougher? Compete against friends in the scored leaderboard.

* Training Mode. Comprehensive tactics tutorage that includes 3 tutorials and 3 different firing ranges.

The graphics in this game are cute and cartoony. Period. The worms are present in big, bright, rich colours, and are animated quite well. The backgrounds are decently varied, and are also bright and colourful, except it is very difficult to discern the foreground from the background. Sometimes I've been walking and run into what I thought was the background, but in actuality was very much a part of the playing field. It can ruin a good plan sometimes, and it's quite frustrating. The weapons, explosions, deaths etc are all rendered with cartoony fun. Even the graves and crates bob around like they're dancing to some happy pop music. Unfortunately, if you are expecting ANY, and I repeat ANY graphical improvement over Worms 2, you will be disappointed. If I said the word cartoony too frequently, it's only because that is the single best word to describe the game's graphics.

The menus are decently laid out, but the oversized icons aren't very intuitive, and you have to move your mouse over each of them to find out what actually means. It's not a big deal, but it could have been done a bit better. Video options are restricted to 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, the only difference being the size of the viewable playing field. I opted for 800x600 because the worms are small enough at 640x480, at 1024x768 they are still quite viewable, but are slightly too small.

The biggest addition from Worms 2 is probably in the sound department. There are dozens of sound schemes that are included with the game, allowing for a diverse range of worm sounds. Unfortunately, the downside of having so many sound schemes is that there is a rather limited number of comments in each sound scheme, and you tend to hear the same exclamations at least a few times every game. The explosions sounds quite good, as do the high pitched cries of pain of the worms. Mwahahahahaha, how I like to make those little wormies squeal!! Ok enough of that. Sorry. As per Worms 2 (which is why the huge number of included sound schemes isn't so amazing), you can download and create custom sound schemes from any .wav, meaning you can hear your high pitched squeals and exclamations when you play. It's a neat feature, but it was in Worms 2. Notice how I'm driving in the similarities to Worms 2 with a sledgehammer.

This version of Worms is very well presented, from the colorful graphics to the hilarious speech (despite their cute voices these worms are far from friendly). There are lots of community features, plus the ability to connect to Facebook and Twitter to share your Worms adventures.

In case you've been in a cave for the last 30 years (or outside of Europe - the franchise never did enjoy the same immense success it garnered east of the Atlantic), the principle of the game is to arm your team of worms with any one of a range of often bizarre weapons and take turns to shoot at the opposing wrigglies until they're hammered into oblivion. So let's look at the weapons first.

That aside, the 3D graphics themselves are perfectly in keeping with the spirit of the original. In other words, they are colourful, over the top cartoon creations, frequently mimicking film scenes (Saving Private Ryan, The Matrix, King Kong, etc.) and always with a strong vein of humour. The worms themselves rely on a broad range of facial expressions to express anxiety, elation or fear, allied to their familiar high-pitched squeaks (which can also be further customised).

But as everyone knows, Worms is all about multiplayer and there are no disappointments in that department (aside from a tragic lack of online support on the console platforms). Designed for between two and four teams, virtually every aspect of the match is as customisable as ever. Schemes (i.e. game settings) can be saved once you've finished your modifications and there's the excellent Wormpot - designed like a one-armed bandit, it provides random game mode combinations (such as health bonuses, low gravity and specialist worms) so you will never have to play the same game twice.

Crochet worry worms became a real hit when a FB Group called "Random Acts of Crochet Kindness" came up with the idea to distribute these simple crochet worry worms with a poem packaged in a small see-through plastic baggie or organza bag anywhere you can think of... in the woods, playground, nursing home, school, camping area... wherever.

The idea of these worry worms is to go out of one's way to make another person smile. It builds a sense of community in kind acts, and attempts to make the world a bit lighter and brighter!

So many people have asked me what all the hype is about crochet worry worms. I figured it would be helpful to do some research and answer some questions related to these squiggly little crochet worms. You can have a look at this post to know more.

Once you get the hang of the basic worry worm pattern I'll show you below, you can start exploring some more themed worry worms that you can use for different occasions. You can also purchase a 6-pack bundle at a discounted rate so you'll have worry worm patterns for the whole year!

Thank you so much Colleen for sharing this with us! What a great initiative! I love to hear about how people use these worry worms all over the world! Would definitely love to see some photos of your worry worm projects ?

Blessings to you and to your mother too ?

I love designing small items for Random Acts of Crochet Kindness.

You might want to have a look at the Mandala Pattern which would be another nice idea for the Senior Living Facility, or some small flowers perhaps.
