Media tycoon Jimmy Lai applied to the High Court for bail on charges of fraud and under the Hong Kong national security law. The barrister decided in court to withdraw the application for the fraud case and only concentrate on the bail request for the national security law charge. When the judge announced the rejection of the bail application, Lai's daughter, who had been sitting at the lawyer's desk, cried bitterly, and when she left the court, she turned around and walked outside the prisoner's pen.
