What the hell happened to my beloved Discovery Channel? I remember the days of amazing documentaries and shows covering a wide array of topics. Now the only thing I see on Discovery is fake reality programming about blue collar work and other nonsense occupations. I feel this is a good forum to perhaps gather fellow outraged fans of the original Discovery Channel. The goal here is to get a bunch of people together to show Discovery Channel we want them to go back to providing the world with quality educational programming. I'm not against entertainment by any means, what I am against is this fad of overly produced scripted "reality" programming. What can we do guys/gals? I have written Discovery many times including posts on their social media pages. When I posted on their Facebook I got many people to agree with my stance and I also saw other posting similar complaints. I hope people see this and show a common interest in changing Discovery back to the great entertaining educational programming. Please post with ideas and lets get this done! I think the only show on Discovery that I can stand watching is Mythbusters but even that show is now just more about explosions rather than actual science. Thanks everyone!

Yes this is compelely expected behavior. During the discovery one of the SCSI inquiries retrieves ALL the host port IP addresses from the MSA. This is reported to the host whether they are accesible via the network to the host or not. Or whether there is a volume presented from those ports. It does not cause any problems but you do want to validate that you have multipath showing you have both an optimized and unoptimized PATH.

Yes, the host ports which have an IP address other than 0.0.0.0 will show up in the SCSI VPD pages which are queried during discovery. And will then show up in open iSCSI.

Looking at your multipath output, I'm wondering if the multiple paths are being discovered correctly. It appears that you have 2 paths sdb and sdc but they are both set to a PRIO of 30. Which would indicate they are both the same ALUA state. Since they come from independent controllers, 7 and 8, it looks like you have 2x HBAs connecting to the same MSA host port. I think that your network issue causing the ping issue may be connected.
