Hey just wanting to know if there's an easy way to make it so that discord can be added to the update command so I can basically update when I log in via terminal and not have to download the package each time

I was using Windows and now I switched to Linux. When using Windows, I was running my discord.js bot with the "node bot.js" command. I can't run this command on Linux. I created the bot ID again with the command "npm init" and made the test command "node bot.js" but again I get the error. I need your help. (Linux Mint 64 bit)

Yes. The microphone just wont work on bionic dog linux, and theres a specific reason I chose bionic dog, and that's for it's low resource consumption, and being based on ubuntu. since my system only has 2gb ram and a core 2 quad.

Change the values next to the Exec and Icon variables. Add /usr/bin/Discord as the Exec value and /opt/Discord/discord.png as the Icon.

To use Discord in your browser, go to discord.com and click on the Login button located on the top-right corner of the web page. Enter your credentials and Discord will automatically redirect you to your dashboard.

(reading through this I just realized that && discord is being executed as part of the su -c, I had thought it was executing after. This partially explains the behaviour but I still dont understand why it is different from just executing: discord.)

The first one works great for running a second instance of Discord and was what I originally set out to do. The second is something I stumbled upon and I cant understand its behaviour.

Its behaviour is that it starts discord as user1, but with certain characteristics of user2, which allows user1 to run 2 separate applications of discord, not usually possible.

I fixed discord so It binds to a unique socket each time its run, so I can now have unlimited discord instances on a single user. Just thought this was an interesting thing and since Im studying CS I was curious about why this works like that.

Sockets come in because I modified how discord names it sockets to allow running multiple windows. With the changes I made to the socket naming combined with the su && command lead to an unexpected outcome.

The Exec is for an executable file, and you can set it to /usr/bin/Discord. The Icon is for the image of Discord that will be displayed when you search for Discord in the menu. You can set it to the /opt/Discord/discord.png. This image is present in the extracted folder.

Quick intro I'm an IT student and I have fallen in love with linux. It's a blast to tinker with for hrs on end. I have cycled through a lot of distro's via vmm qemu/kvm. By far this one has been my favorite on vm. Out of my bare metal installs so far Linux mint has been the most stable and I have been using it for around 8 months now. Today I stumbled on kaOS and love the way it looks. I've spent the last 5hrs playing with it lol. I think i'm going to put it on my other ssd and run it as a daily. I did have a couple questions about programs. There are a few I use on a regular basis. I was having no luck getting them all to run and I was wondering if these are in the works or if there is something I can do to get them to work. I communicate with classmates and friends via Discord on a daily basis and this does not seem to open. Thankfully, Spotify worked fine, and steam installed also (though I didn't try any games on it due to it being on a vm). I really enjoy the mailspring email client and I could not get it to work either. This last one is a big one and will probably be the most unpopular. When I first started school I used firefox and chrome and was constantly having problems with them. I switched over to edge and while everyone else was having problems with their browsers mine consistently worked with no problems. Edge also allows me to install my pw manager as a extension and the collections favorites section makes for easy bookmarks per class or per project. Its just been an amazing browser while I am in school. This also would not load when installed through Discover. Bottom line is this distro has me enthralled and im excited to learn more about it.

Once i was using Dolphin emulator for playing a Wii game with only discord opened and Xorg was keeping allocating memory, even after closing the emulator and discord, until it made the whole OS crash. hope i can kinda return to the old memory usage

for example now, I had only brave-browser opened, and when i closed it, the RAM used was 2,4GB

On the Linux platform, discord can also be installed on various distros, such as Ubuntu, Arch Linux, Manjaro, Fedora, and more. See how to install discord on various Linux distributions if you have never installed it before, it should be easy to follow.

Discord often adds various interesting new features, and with the addition of these features forces us to update the discord application. Usually, if there is an update available, an update pop-up will appear telling you that the latest version of discord is available to download.

The problem that arises is, usually when the first update appears, we cannot update discord via AUR(if you are using manjaro), because the repository has not been updated. Aside from the fact that we cannot update the discord application, we also cannot open the old discord application, because it always shows the update pop-up. now we are stuck.

Now, try to open the discord app again, and see if the popup update comes up. If not, it means that you have successfully disabled the popup update. Now you can back to your lovely community in discord again.

In case you want to get the discord popup update back, or maybe you love being reminded when the new version of discord is available. There is a way to activate that feature again. Actually, it is similar to what we did before.

Discord is a text and voice chat tool which is used to communicate with other people who might be playing the same game. It is a popular chat application for gamers. It is easy to easy to use and supports across all platforms. It is really simple and easy to install Discord in Linuxmint 18.3.

That is awesome, I'll shove it onto my system when I get a chance.

From what I can see of that mint-y repo you need to submit a version for the various sizes (in mint-y-icons/usr/share/icons/Mint-Y/apps at masterĀ  linuxmint/mint-y-iconsĀ  GitHub) - unless there is a generator script or something is run to create those automatically in the directory.

I'm not entirely sure but I guess that because the file name is 'joplin.svg' and therefore 'joplin.png' for the actual icons then you don't need to add a manual symbolic link to the repo, it would handle it natively.

Hi @Daeraxa ~ @james-carroll figured out how to switch over to a symbolic reference for the Joplin icon on the snap distribution, and the official distribution seems to be already set up that way, so once the maintainers at the mint-y-icons repository accept the pull request there (and, if you're using the snap distribution, once Joplin 1.7 rolls out), you should be all set with the mint-y-style Joplin icon!

It is worth mentioning that you can still create your own .desktop file and add it to ~/.local/share/applications, though this obviously wouldn't be set up by default. And also the official Joplin distribution does appear to use a symbolic icon name, so it should still work with mint-y-icons.

These guides/configurations aren't supported by t2linux maintainers. Use at your own risk. If you are using one of the distributions listed above, you should follow their install guides rather than the ones listed under this section. However, they might still be important to gain a better general picture or to help with specific issues.

To use discord.js, you'll need to install it via npm (Node's package manager). npm comes with every Node installation, so you don't have to worry about installing that. However, before you install anything, you should set up a new project folder.

As you can check the discord API on -api-docs

It is an open API and you will be able to use this API in your application, but each API that is provided by a developer is bound by the legal terms set by the developer themselves, and for discord you can find them hereĀ
