Directory Lister allows you to list & print folder contents, that is to create and then save, print or send via e-mail list of files from selected folders on hard disks, cd-roms, dvd-roms, floppies, USB storages and network shares. Listing can be in HTML, text, Microsoft Excel, CSV format or stored directly into a database.

Directory Lister is the best application from a wide category of directory printers.

Directory Lister can also be integrated into the context menu of Windows Explorer so you don't even need to open the application to generate listings.

Command line interface is supported for automated listings that can be run from Windows Task Scheduler.

Extensive number of options allows you to completely customize the visual look of the output. You can set sorting for files and folders so they are always displayed as you want. You can define column order so the most important columns are immediately visible. International display format options allows you to adjust the output for your local needs. Listing can contain links to actual files and directories so you are able to put the listing on a web page with clickable contents.

HTML display style is fully customized - you can change background color, separate style for header, directory rows, odd and even file rows and for surrounding frame.

You can limit the files list by applying a filter for filename, date, size or attributes.

The DIR command displays a list of files and subfiles in a selected directory, and it's been a useful if somewhat old-fashioned feature of Windows since before it was Windows, back in the MS-DOS days. KRKsoft's Directory Lister Pro generates lists from any directory and saves them as HTML, CSV, or text files. It's a shareware utility that wraps the old-school functionality of the DIR command in a modern Windows interface with many options.

Directory Lister Pro's interface is plain but efficient and clearly configured, with three resizable panels: A left-hand navigation panel with a tree view of all our system's drives and network shares and a horizontally divided main pane with a tabbed control and configuration suite on top and a directory display below. We clicked one of our hard drives, and Directory Lister Pro quickly scanned it and displayed its contents in a color-coded table. The tabs are populated with checkboxes for selecting items like column headings, order, and attributes; program options; filters; display settings; and behavior. You can save and load your configurations as well as HTML forms for saving and printing reports, and a Send Listing icon let us send saved reports via e-mail. The Output options included extras like the ability to generate HTML links to files or directories, while the Other Columns tab let us add wide range of extra columns, such as comments, languages, copyright, and product version; there's even an option to add columns for the four most common hashes. The Microsoft Windows Network column identified all the shared directories and subdirectories in our workgroup, too.

Sometimes it is necessary to have a list of your folders' contents in a portable format, say, HTML or plain text. For example, you may like to put a list of all the files in a readable format into a directory that you share over a local or P2P network. Directory Lister will help you generate such a list in a matter of seconds.

The list format is completely configurable in tons of different ways. For example, you can choose among 20 different types of options for each directory or file such as size, creation date, full path, etc.

Ubuntu 22.04 - I've used Directory Lister many times on servers to graphically list files in a directory. I have a new VPS setup with a fresh apache install and php 8.2. I initially had errors with dom and zip not installed that I think I've fixed. I've changed /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/dir.conf to put php first:

The Directory Lister is menu driven for ease of use. The Directory Lister can create worksheets that contain listings of your key directories. For example, it can create a directory listing of just the XLS files in your folders. Create another one that shows just the DOC files in the same directories! From the listings you can open, rename, move, or delete files or directories. The following shows a small snap shot of a directory listing:

The order in which files appear in a directory tends to be fairlyrandom. A more useful program would sort the entries (perhaps byalphabetizing them) before printing them; seeScanning the Content of a Directory, and Array Sort Function.

Hello Paul2009OK, so its really phone directory lookup (similar to 411.ca) that will have search bar and then a visitor can either lookup either by name or some category such as department. The search should return a specific result such as name, phone number and email address if searching someone specific by name or if the search is by department then it should return a list of people in that department with all the particular mentioned above.Thank you again

Hi Buck, this might be a bit late for you but there is a directory tool called Community Box that allows you to create searchable listings: I'm not sure it's exactly what you're looking for but you can have people in categories and then search and sort by name, categories or location. It's free for up to 25 entries if you wanted to have a play around.

Hi @katyjanneh, you can create a directory on your site using Community Box... Try it out, with a free trial account. Here are the instructions for adding it to your Squarespace site - -to-add-community-box-to-your-squarespace-website e24fc04721
