DayZ is a multiplayer-only survival video game developed and published by Bohemia Interactive. It is the standalone game based on the mod of the same name for Arma 2. Following a five-year-long early access period for Windows, the game was officially released in December 2018, and was released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2019.

DayZ began development in 2012 when the mod's creator, Dean Hall, joined Bohemia Interactive to commence work on the standalone version of the game. The development has been focused on altering the engine to suit the game's needs, developing a working client-server architecture, and introducing new features like diseases and a better inventory system. The game sold over three million copies during its early access phase.

Following the huge successes of the DayZ mod, Dean Hall announced in a August 2012 development blog that DayZ would begin development as a standalone game, in conjunction with Bohemia Interactive and himself as project lead.[11] He said that the game needed to be released before the end of the year "in order to achieve what we have to do",[12] and that he wanted an initial release around November 2012.[13] The game will be running on a branch of the Take On Helicopters engine (part of the Real Virtuality engine), and the main areas of developmental focus would be "critical issues", such as bug fixing, hacking, and security.[14]

Following the troubled release of similar game The War Z, Hall stated in a post on Reddit that the "whole 'saga' of the development made me seriously question if I wanted to be involved in the industry" and that he had considered leaving the DayZ standalone project. [21] The game missed its original 2012 release date, with a development update coming in January 2013 saying that the game was not yet released because the developers "had the chance to go from making a game that was just the mod improved slightly... to actually redeveloping the engine and making the game the way we all dreamed it could be."[22] The release date was rescheduled and an internal closed test began on the game, with it being announced that public testing would not be taking place until the server architecture was finalized.[23][24]

So..how are these new buildings going to affect performance? I always had the suspicion they would have liked to add more enterable buildings on Chern for Amra2, but had to hold back due to the big impact hit they seem to have on CPU. Maybe they can only add this new, more complex Chernarus because of how much other Arma stuff they are going to cut out to optimize and streamline the DayZ standalone. Maybe they are using a new method to create the interiors? Takistan has loads of complex buildings with interiors but doesn't seem to be as hard on CPU as Chern buildings (they still are pretty hard on CPU though).

You obviously have no idea what map the OP is talking about or possibly missed this and this. The changes to the Chernarus map for standalone DayZ are huge. Considering what we've had to put up with regarding DayZ I'd say the ArmA community deserves the DayZ version of the map for ArmA2.

The following years: 2016, 2017, and 2018 would only see 4 major updates, as huge chunks of the new engine were merged on to the public stable branch. The first update was the new renderer which significantly improved the visuals of DayZ and greatly increased client framerates. The next update, 0.61 would add in new animal behaviors, wolves, a new audio system for gunshots, dynamic infected spawns, and some new zombie ai sensors. The following update 0.62 would revitalize all of the forests and trees on Chernarus and effectively finalize the Chernarus+ map, there were additional color palette changes, additions to weather/wind, and additions to the audio system that was previously introduced. And finally, 0.63 which is the last, and most significant pieces of the Enfusion engine. 0.63 is an entirely new player character, which includes the player controls, physics, and animations. On top of that, 0.63 has a new user interface, HUD, and server browser. 0.63 also includes new scripting called Enscript which is significantly faster than the legacy SQF scripts, DayZ 0.63 no longer features any content with leftover SQF scripts, as a result server fps and performance has increased dramatically. 0.63 also includes new physics for vehicles, new crafting, and new gunplay and gun mechanics. Modding has also been made available, and modding tools have been released to the public, as well as the ability to host your own server from your PC.

DayZ has seen a number of changes since the mod was first introduced to the public in 2012. The standalone has seen several significant pipeline and design changes that have impacted the development timetable. What was originally designed as a quick port of the mod to a standalone executable, has increased to a fully realized game, an entirely new engine, and a multiplatform release, as DayZ is currently on the Xbox One, and will be coming to PS4 soon.

I'm having some issues with server mismatch on the SA launcher. dayz server version is 1.05.152380 and local version is 1.4.152.166, this makes me belive its my game that is not up to date but when booting the game normally it says im on 1.05, ive unistalled, reinstalled the game and all mods and it keeps coming up. Is there something im missing which is stopping this from working?

What everyone seems to be clamoring for these days is a standalone version of DayZ, the hit zombie survival game by Dean Hall. The creator opened up to Reddit on the progress of the version and his feelings on being confused for the maker of The War Z.

Hall says that DayZ's standalone version should come out before April, although he allows for wiggle room if something comes up between now and then. The team is being cautious about pulling the trigger on testing, too: "Slowly we'll hand out the first keys and get a few servers running. Then we will reassess. It could go really well and we open up quickly, or it could go badly. Don't expect the tech test to be fun, or very pretty."

Past the release of the standalone version, Hall said that he has plans to create a new map that centers around a western city.

Hall also addressed his frustration at being confused with The War Z: "I am angry about The War Z. I'm very angry. I'm quite hurt personally because anyone can see how similar the words are, and while the average gamer knows the difference, individual people don't. I've had family members and close friends mistake the difference and confront me about what they believed was unethical behavior they thought I was making."

Project lead for DayZ standalone version, Dan Hall answered questions about the project, which was initially supposed to launch last year, on Reddit. The standalone version of the open-world zombie videogame does not have a firm release date, but developer Bohemia Interactive is working on fixing remaining bugs and optimization issues.

Changed: Updated values and format of player spawn points (mandatory change, see cfgplayerspawnpoints.xml in dayzOffline.chernarusplus) - If you do not follow this change, new players on your server could spawn in the ocean!

One of the last times we heard about DayZ was about the standalone version's delay. This wasn't a bad delay, however, as it's for an entire overhaul of every aspect of the game. The overhaul certainly wasn't the intention of DayZ's creator Dean Hall, but it's a most welcome one for anyone waiting on the standalone release.

There's still no word on when the standalone DayZ will arrive, but you can read more details on the game at the official blog. In the meantime, check out the screenshots below to see how well the overhaul is shaping up. The island is being renovated, too, since designer Ivan Buchta can help out again after his Greek prison release.

This problem has been around for about a year and a half.

with optimization of new drivers for Dayz

it's a pity that they didn't fix it for in so much time

and for the new 6000 series video cards everything will be the same

and it's sad - you buy such a video card for a lot of money

for dayz and you see 45-50 fps in the game

Driver 20.4.2, is undoubtedly the best old driver so far, and I'm wondering, as far as more fps the current new driver would give in the dayz, if the new current driver worked well - as a rule, new drivers should work much better than the old ones and should give more fps, than the old drivers - I want to believe, what if would new current driver worked well, he would showed still more fps, than 20.4.2 by 20-30%, what do you think?

I don't get this dayz is a very popular game and should have full support!!!! Just Purchased a 6700 Xt and thought it would be a upgrade from my gtx 1080, yes on paper it is but in my favorite game no way. Gtx 1080 1080p high settings 125ish fps my new 6700 xt on poor settings I get 45/55 fps. Sad!!!!

DayZ is following a path navigated by fellow former-mods Counter-Strike, Dota, Team Fortress and Killing Floor: it's being developed as a commercial, standalone game. I spoke with Dean Hall about what the decision to go standalone will mean for DayZ's design and for its more than 1.1 million citizens .

Hall:  That hung with me. I couldn't stop thinking about it on the plane. That sort of ties into what I was thinking about instancing and stuff like that. The underground construction and such. I think being able to do some of that kind of stuff would be really cool. How we would fit it into the world and that sort of stuff. The only issue is that for the standalone game, I really am going back to basics, and saying, we have a really good idea of what the design needs to be. We're going to return to that before we jump in with the content. Let's get the design bombproof.

Maybe they'd have even offered me a lot of money, and maybe I would have sold out and gone that way. So I didn't want... I wanted the message to be very clear, very clear, that this is what the DayZ experience looks like, and this is the DayZ experience are going behind, so that we can see that. Well, that's happened now. So we don't need to keep doing that. I talk with our server team, and they were in agreement, so... We'll look at opening things up a bit more, and then you can get some creative stuff like that. Lingor Island and that sort of thing. And why not? I think that's why... It's not about "let's turn the mod off and do the game." Let's keep the mod going! Let's open it up. Maybe some really good ideas can come out of that, things that we can feed into the game. I think a lot of people have been a bit like... "Oh, well, I bought the game and now I can't play the mod." I think the mod is going to have a real element of creativity. It'll probably be a bit like the Wild West, maybe, when we open it up a little bit. But I don't know, I think it will be able to get to places that the standalone game development can't. At least initially. e24fc04721
