This got me literally stressed for a whole night!!What worked for me was this:if you are using crystal reports with dataset (linked to a dataset),most likely you changed the length of the field in the database. so if the length was 10 and you adjust to 20 for instance, no matter what you do, the report is reading the "Old" dataset with the field of length 10 characters and truncating it at 10 (I don't know why it did that)...believe it or not I just copied the query from my "Old" dataset,created a new dataset and VOILA!!! it worked like charm...
Our existing web application project contains 100+ crystal Reports. Since it's not supported no longer, we need to upgrade our reports to new reporting tool or engine. It would be very generous of you, if you can suggest some powerful reporting tools for our existing web application. We are ok with paid as well as open source alternatives. Thanks

We upgraded to Kinetic Cloud in November '22. We have multiple custom crystal reports that work. We had to get a READ ONLY environment, which is a copy of the LIVE database, so that we can read the data using a DSN file. Epicor sent all the connection string info and all we had to do was build the connection in Crystal Reports. It works great. But please note, this only works in the SMART client and not the URL client. And only if your users can access the location where you store the report, i.e. a server share. So remote users without a VPN are out of luck.

The first thing you have to do is copy the four crystal reports dll files into the sql server folder so they can be added in the ssis script reference; CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll, CrystalDecisions.ReportSource.dll, CrystalDecisions.Shared.dll, CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms.dll into C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\SDK\Assemblies or your appropriate version folder.

I had a similar error and it took me a while to REALLY read the error message: DATABASE VENDOR CODE: ####. Hmmmmm ... my database is SQL Server and I have an error number. I went to a page that defined the SQL Server error codes and found my code: Syntax error converting datetime from character string. I went to my stored procedure and I had params that were defined as varchar() but used to compare to a date data type. While that did in fact work if I executed the code in a query window something happens when the resultset is returned to Crystal reports. I simply change the params to datetime and my report worked. What really threw me off was the report would PREVIEW the data but when viewed through the viewer it failed so I spent hours scouring the reports. The sad thing is I made this very same mistake a couple of years ago and forgot the lesson. So the moral is it might not be the report that has the problem. Go to >> www.sql-server-helper.com/.../msg-1-500.aspx - 208 = Invalid object name '%.*ls'. Hmmmm .. not as helpful as mine but there you go.

As per my knowledge, it is not possible to directly connect to Crystal Report in Power BI. You would need to connect to the original data source of the Crystal report in Power BI Desktop.

MOSES Crystal Reports Project was created in response to the statewide MOSES survey conducted in June 2005. One of the primary findings was that the field wanted better access to customizable ad-hoc Crystal Reports, rather than having to rely only on the standard MOSES Production Reports.
The following reports are available for use by career center staff and partners with appropriate access rights to the MOSES database. Additional reports will be available as we move forward. While you may be able to generate similar information, Crystal reports are used for the day-to-day operations of the University. Tableau and Data Warehouse are used more by the Administration as analytical and presentation tools.
Reports typically fail due to the parameter selection. Check your parameters to ensure you entered all that are required. If you are running a report from History, try running it again by clicking Schedule instead. Sometimes reports are refreshed behind the scenes and it requires you to create a newly scheduled report to run the latest version.
