Look, I know that the game is flawed, even ranging on the lower at of mediocre, but when it comes to police games, Police Simulator Patrol Duty is actually one of the few that a) allow you to be a cop in uniform and b) shoot stuff.

And that is what Police Simulator Patrol duty gets right. You start the game with regular und mundane jobs (hand out tickets, arrest drug dealers, deal with car accidents), but later on you get a gun and a variation of emergency calls that require you to use it, as crime starts to sky rocket in the city.

There are smaller calls, where a diner gets robbed or two gangs are fighting wach other, which can be solved by pepper spraying the criminals until they lie down on the floor. But later on, you also get more serious stuff, like escorting a police van transporting a gang boss, gang shootouts and bank robberies with hostages.

The game actually gives you fun situations to resolve by sprinkling in some GTA gameplay into the police simulator genre and not restricting you to the boring parts or by forcing you to solve everything peacefully.

It also helps that the game has NPCs at the crime scenes and while they usually don't help you, it makes the world feel more alive, when there are several police cars and officers surrounding the bank that is getting robbed.

But while out on these humdrum assignments, more exciting opportunities are announced on the radio that I can respond to. On Rachel's first day, a gas station is robbed and I wind up interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence like shell casings and fingerprints. It's fun, though it feels a little weird to be a police cadet working traffic stops and then suddenly be doing crime scene analysis.
