If you believe your computer's battery life has decreased significantly, you can use coconutBattery to compare the current battery capacity to the factory default. This app can also display information about the remaining battery charge, provided it is in use, or the age of the computer.

coconutBattery is a free application developed specifically for Apple devices that measures the health of your internal battery. coconutBattery works on both iOS devices, such as iPhone and iPad, as well as Mac OS X products, such as Macbook Pro and Macs and provides users with detailed battery specifics and statistics to help prolong the life of the battery.

coconutBattery doesn't just show you the current charge of your battery - it also shows you its current maximum capacity in relation to the original capacity your battery had when it left the factory.

You also get information about the battery-load cycles (how often did you fully load your battery), the current charger (coconutBattery even warns you if you plugged in a wrong charger for your Notebook) and last but not least information about the age of your Mac. coconutBattery gives you all these information just in time because of it's live-feedback interface!

Of course you are able to save the current maximum capacity of your battery - with just one click! coconutBattery uses Apple's new and really powerful technology named "CoreData" to realize this comfortable saving option.

Just changed my battery a few days ago and it definitely lasts longer than the previous battery I'd had for over 3 years. However, coconut battery says it's only at 76% capacity which is only a little better than what it said with my old battery. I know CoconutBattery is not precise but it does seem to be pretty accurate for my computer and iPad. I'd checked a couple of times with the new battery and it is consistently less than it should be.

There isn't a precision issue with coconutBattery or any other utility that reports battery data. These tools aren't interpreting anything, they are just reporting what the battery is telling them. So if you see 76% and your skeptical, try a different utility such as 3uTools (Windows) or iMazing (Mac) to see if they are consistent.

As for such a low reading...batteries aren't solid state devices, there more of a chemistry experiment :>). Not all batteries are created equal and I have even seen batteries that report greater than 100% capacity. You may have a bad battery or one that has been sitting on the shelf for a long time. Do a few full discharge/recharge cycles to see if it gets better or not. Otherwise, return it to the vendor.

I tried draining the phone and hard resetting again, and then charging to 100%. Coconut battery now says 91.9% design capacity. Not perfect, but the battery isn't defective at least. I guess it just needed a few more cycles to calibrate. Thanks for your answer! :)
