Circus music (also known as carnival music) is any sort of music that is played to accompany a circus, and also music written that emulates its general style. Popular music would also often get arranged for the circus band, as well as waltzes, foxtrots and other dances.

The galop is another popular form of circus music. Like the march, it is played at a fast, lively tempo and is primarily used for daredevil acts, such as trick-riding or other wild animal performances. Any performance or act that consisted of fast-paced tricks or stunts would probably have performed to a galop. The galop is typically written in 2/4 time and has a short length, but would only end when the ringmaster signaled the end of an act. If the act went longer, the galop could be extended by playing da capo.[7] One of the best-known examples is Gustav Peter's widely popular Memory of Circus Renz, which was published in 1894 with the title Souvenir de Cirque Renz. The piece was originally written for the xylophone.

Circus music catered to the needs of the different acts. For example, a high-flying, nimble trapeze act could be characterized by a dizzying galop or a graceful waltz. An act containing ferocious wild animals, such as lions, would probably use a march.

In 1971, Charles Bennett Jr. and Art Stensvad gathered fans of circus music and veteran circus bandleaders including Merle Evans into a circus music preservation society known as Windjammers Unlimited. The group meets twice annually to study and play the compositions of classic era circus music composers such as M. L. Lake and Karl L. King. They've also researched in the archives of the C.L. Barnhouse publishing company which was a major supplier of sheet music for circus bands.[13]

Other bands and musicians that have employed or often employ circus music in their work include Danny Elfman, Oingo Boingo, Tom Waits, Mr. Bungle, the Dickies, Panic! at the Disco, Legendary Shack Shakers, Mr. Strange/The Shanklin Freakshow, Kaizers Orchestra, and Primus. The music genre dark cabaret is heavily based on elements from circus music and from burlesque and vaudeville influences. Popular artists within the genre include The Tiger Lillies and Circus Contraption. Punk cabaret is also influenced by circus music. Artists include The Dresden Dolls, Amanda Palmer, and Emilie Autumn. The dance track "Disco Circus" is named for its resemblance to circus music. Post-hardcore and metalcore bands like The Venetia Fair, Ice Nine Kills, and Crown The Empire add circus music in some of their songs, and so do electro swing acts like Goldfish.

As the styles of circus music have changed, so has the instrumentation. With the nineteenth century came the introduction of brass bands. String instruments were no longer used in these "traditional" circus bands to make "traditional" circus music, which is defined by Merle Evans as music that is brighter in tone than other music.[15]

So this actually happened to my brother when he was sixteen. He went hunting in woods behind our house. His tree stand was pretty deep in the woods far from roads or any near houses beside ours. He was sitting in his stand for a good hour when he started to hear a really faint clown melody at first he didnt think any thing of it. Then it started to get louder this is when he started to get out of there on his way out it stopped completely. He refuses to go in the woods alone now.

I've run into this a few times, and in the past I have solved it by quitting without saving and starting from before the weirdness began. But this time I had already saved the game, so I decided to find some other way to solve it.

This is a bug where for some unknown reason there starts to play an irritating circus type music, I believe it is one used in the Showtime performances, although I suppose it could be others if you don't have that expansion. It is not the ghost hunter music that sometimes keeps playing all night long in a place it shouldn't, or the computer game music that also sometimes plays at times and places where it shouldn't be. Unlike these, this is tied to one particular family member and follows her wherever she goes. If you zoom in close, the music gets stronger, like she is a walking stereo.

I solved it by sending her to University and back. For those who don't have that expansion, I would guess that the tourist destinations would do, and probably the city of the future. Perhaps you can also solve it by moving to another house, certainly to another neighborhood (but that will wipe all your relationship outside the household). Resetsim and Fixall (from Awesomemod) did not work though.

It's weird to hear this song without watching a circus scene. It's like eating two tubs of ice cream without seriously resenting yourself afterwards. Even weirder is to imagine it playing to its original context: gladiators. I know what we call a "circus" nowadays is derived from what the ancient Romans used to call a "circus," but when I think "brutal battles to the death and a lion eats someone afterward" I normally picture something ... well, something heavier than your average clown performance soundtrack. But maybe that's what was considered a badass bloodbath soundtrack in the 19th century.

Lots of songs from the Norwegian play Peer Gynt have made it into the collective subconscious, including "In the Hall of the Mountain King." The ubiquity of the work's music is strange because if you ask most people in the street to tell you what a "Peer Gynt" is, they're probably going to think you're making an inappropriate comment.

When they say "cannons" in the title of that video, they're not talking about some obscure music concept, nor did they misspell "canon." They're talking about honest-to-god, big-metal-tube-that-shoots-solid-lead-balls cannons.

Are you living your dreams? Ratchet and Sukkew are living theirs. Together they're Deviant, a married Juggalo rap duo from a small town in Southern Mississippi. On Wed., Oct. 12 at Southport Hall, they're opening for horrorcore rap legends Twiztid, a huge opportunity for a couple who only this year made the jump from fans to musicians.

After stumbling on Deviant's first music video, Lurkin', I tracked the power couple down for a conversation about their upcoming show, police harassment of Juggalos and how wedded bliss mixes creatively with their lyrical themes of dismemberment, maiming, and torture - the gruesome tropes comprising the rap subgenre known as horrorcore.

RATCHET: Yeah, we started making music together. What, seven months ago? And it's a part of our lives now - it's something we do every day, just sit down and record, rehearse and come up with new stuff.

With regard to Juggalos dealing with depression, I was struck by Sukkew's verse in 'Voices' where you talk about being too poor to get access to mental health resources. That's a big deal for my friends in New Orleans, and I think a widespread condition under capitalism. Is there a tension between those aspects of your music- the fucked-up fantasies where you're dismembering and cannibalizing people, and then very recognizable day-to-day type struggles?

RATCHET: You know, so we couldn't afford the healthcare we needed, we can release that through horror movies and gory, bloody music. Some us sit around and listen to it our whole lives, and some take it further and try to create our own music, to pay back to the Juggalo community who helped us to make it through some tough, depressing really dark times.

RATCHET: We don't know them personally. We went to the show in Biloxi last time they were there, and got a few seconds' handshake with them, got to say 'Hey,' but that's as far as it's been. What happened was we posted a link to our music on the venue's Facebook page, so other Juggalos from the area could check us out- just in hopes we'd gain a couple more fans, a couple more Juggalos from the area to jam with- and the venue actually ended up hitting us up and asking if we wanted to open for Twiztid!

SUKKEW: The other day we had our face paint on driving around and the cops pulled us over. They told us they'd gotten like 50 reports of clowns driving around in a blue and pink Volkswagen Beetle. Apparently we scared the shit out of the whole town.

Want to give your elementary music lesson students a fun challenge? Provide them with a copy of this free clown music practice chart and challenge them to practice for 14 days (two weeks) without missing a day.

Rewards

For some students recognition of their achievement will be enough. You could even reward them with a music award certificate signed by their music teacher. Other students may like a prize for meeting their goal. Decide on a reasonable prize that parents can provide before beginning the practice challenge. It might be an ice cream cone or a game from their iPad.

The Juggalos, Insane Clown Posse fans known primarily for their love of facepaint and fizzy pop, have been classified by the FBI as a criminal gang. When will people stop demonising kids who love music?

I'm drawn to the happy nature of calliope music that is used in carnivals, fairs, circuses, theme parks, etc. Also, it sounds exactly like video game music. Where does this type of music come from, is it jazz or ragtime or some other genre? 2351a5e196
