"Quilty Pleasures": While picking up Candice from school, Josh and Emily learn from her teacher, Mr. Campbell, that she must turn in a family tree quilt project. Forcing Alex and Bridgette to babysit Candice, they travel to the fashion district to collect the materials they need for the quilt, only to end up stuck as the district closes. Josh's wallet is stolen, and he and Emily track the thief to an abandoned factory, where they meet a group of street urchins. Employing their help, Josh and Emily successfully create the quilt and spend the night at the factory. In the morning, Josh and Emily realize that the street urchins are actually dwarfish adults who try to force them to stay and act as their parents, although they escape. Arriving at the school, they discover that Candice has already made her own family quilt, and Mr. Campbell passes her.

"Snailin' It": Emily does not have enough time to spend with Candice due to her job. A seemingly friendly snail allows her to use his magical time hat to get things done. Unfortunately, this causes her to rapidly age with every use and the snail tries to kidnap Candice. Elsewhere, Josh spends the day with Randy.

The website's critical consensus reads, "Completely absurd and yet, utterly relatable, Close Enough captures the strange experience that is being an adult."[29] On Metacritic, it has a weighted average score of 74 out of 100 based on 6 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews".[30]

There will not be a fourth season of Close Enough as HBO has decided to cancel the adult comedy series after three seasons on the air, according to Deadline. The decision to drop the J. G. Quintel comedy comes three months after the third season was released.

Quintel is widely known for his work creating Regular Show, which aired for eight seasons on Cartoon Network between 2010 and 2017. Speaking to The Cinema Spot, he had previously discussed the prospect of running a crossover between his two works, saying:

A spiritual successor to Quintel's popular Cartoon Network series Regular Show, Close Enough dropped its first season on HBO Max on July 9, 2020, and was picked up for Season 2 the following month. The series was originally announced for TBS back in 2017, though was temporarily shelved after the network's planned adult animation block fell through. The show follows Josh and Emily, a married couple in their early 30s, who live with their young daughter Candice and their divorced friends Alex and Bridgette.

The announcement of Close Enough's Season 2 premiere date and its Season 3 renewal coincide with various other HBO Max announcements, including an adult-oriented Scooby-Doo spinoff series centering around Velma and an adaptation of the DC/Jinxworld comic book series Cover, as well as the rebooted version of Clone High getting a two-season order.

Despite an excellent voice cast, including Jason Mantzoukas (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Danielle Brooks (Orange is the New Black), Close Enough follows an unsurprisingly familiar template for adult animation. The best adult animation shows (The Simpsons, BoJack Horseman, Rick and Morty) tend to mix lowbrow humor with a strong, even sophisticated, point-of-view. (For instance, BoJack Horseman is about depression, and Rick and Morty is a sharp sci-fi satire). Close Enough lacks that compelling vantage point to tie it together, and the jokes and setups, most of which have been played to death on other shows, aren't nearly strong enough to carry it.

The third season's trailer teases a Halloween-themed episode, with Josh Singleton dressed as Mordecai, the twenty-something anthropomorphic blue jay Quintel voiced in the hit Cartoon Network series Regular Show.

The official artwork of season 3 reflects the tone, with all the primary characters on a jet ski joyride in what appears to be wedding attire, with Josh and Emily wearing a tux and a long white gown. Whatever posh event the couple is heading towards, the art and trailer promise a truly wild ride.

Last season, Marc-Andre Fleury started 45 regular-season games for the Wild, and Filip Gustavsson started 37. Fleury, who will turn 39 in November, went 24-16-4 with a 2.85 goals-against average, .908 save percentage and two shutouts. Gustavsson, 25, went 22-9-7 with a 2.10 GAA, .931 save percentage and three shutouts and was rewarded with a three-year, $11.25 million contract ($3.75 million average annual value) on July 31. Although Gustavsson has never played 40 games in an NHL season before, he should this season with Fleury, a future Hall of Famer, entering the final year of his contract.

The Wild lost defensemen Matt Dumba (Arizona Coyotes) and John Klingberg (Toronto Maple Leafs), centers Gustav Nyquist (Nashville Predators), Sam Steel (Dallas Stars) and Oskar Sundqvist (St. Louis Blues), and forward Ryan Reaves (Toronto Maple Leafs) in free agency. The only player acquired this offseason who is expected to be in the opening night lineup is forward Pat Maroon, who likely will take over the bottom-six role previously held by Reaves. As a result, some forwards from last season will need to step up, and defenseman Brock Faber should get a shot after playing eight NHL games (six in the Stanley Cup Playoffs) last season.

Qualifying for the postseason hasn't been a problem for Minnesota, which has done so in four straight seasons and 10 of the past 11. However, the Wild haven't advanced to the second round since 2015, so just making the playoffs this season won't be enough.

Of the 12 forwards who will likely be in the opening night lineup, 11 played with Minnesota last season (other than Maroon, who was acquired in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning on July 2), and nine of those 11 played at least 50 games (Marcus Johansson played in 20 after being acquired in a trade with the Washington Capitals on Feb. 28; Marco Rossi played in 19). However, Jujhar Khaira, who signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Wild on Sept. 17, could be a depth forward after he had 14 points (six goals, eight assists) in 51 games with the Chicago Blackhawks last season. On defense, Alex Goligoski appears the odd man out barring injury. The 38-year-old played in 46 games with Minnesota last season after playing in 72 in 2021-22.

The Wild only added one player of note in free agency, and that was Maroon. Acquired for a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, Maroon (6-foot-3, 234 pounds) is a three-time Stanley Cup champion and led the NHL with 150 penalty minutes last season. He could play on a line with Marcus Foligno, Minnesota's other big, physical forward (6-3, 226), or he could play on the fourth line and provide protection for a young player like Rossi. 006ab0faaa
