Students may check the final exam schedules below to determine when their final exams meet. Students may also check the schedule of classes to view the final exam time assigned to each section. Please be aware that listed final exam days, time, and meeting rooms are subject to change. Students are strongly encouraged to check the schedule frequently for the most up-to-date information and to consult their instructors.

Final exams are scheduled at 9:00 AM, 2:00 PM, and 7:00 PM. Unless otherwise arranged, exams are scheduled in the regularly scheduled classrooms where courses have been meeting throughout the term. Instructors will notify students should the exam be offered in alternative meeting locations.

Undergraduate students having three final examinations that begin and end within a 24-hour time period (any contiguous combination of the 9:00 AM, 2:00 PM, and 7:00 PM exam times) or two final examinations during the same exam period may petition to have one exam changed to another date/time. If one of the exams under consideration is a block exam, the block exam may not be the exam that is changed.

Complete and submit the Petition to Change a Final Examination by the deadline listed for the appropriate term above. The Office of the University Registrar will determine if you are eligible to have an exam changed and confirm that exams are being given in each of the courses that you have listed. Instructors will be contacted in the priority order that you have established to request the rescheduling of the exam. The Office of the University Registrar will contact you via email when an instructor has responded positively to the request. After receiving that email from the Office of the University Registrar, you will be responsible for contacting the instructor to finalize the arrangements for rescheduling the exam.

In courses in which final examinations are not scheduled, an exam that substitutes for a final examination may not be given in the last week of classes. Hourly tests may be given in the last week of classes, whether or not a final examination is administered during the exam period.

No non-academic activities (except "study breaks") may be scheduled during reading days. Faculty may schedule non-mandatory class review sessions during reading days but no other class related activities may be scheduled during that period.

Use this matrix as you make your class schedule to find out when your finals will take place. It's up to you to plan your class schedule so that your final exams won't conflict. Final exam times and locations are subject to change, so please consult the Final Exam Live Search ahead of finals week for the most up-to-date information.

The final in-class examination period is intended for the end-of-semester examination. No in-class examination constituting more than 10% of the final course grade may be given in undergraduate courses during the week preceding the final examination period of the semester; laboratory, performance and other alternative classes (e.g., courses in the individualized mathematics program) are excluded from this policy. It is the responsibility of the department head or, where appropriate, the school head to ensure compliance with this policy. Refer to the Academic Faculty and Administrative Professional Manual, 1.6.1.

All in-class final examinations must be held on the date and at the time listed in the official final examination schedule. Out-of-class final examination or equivalent assessments shall be due on the date and at a time listed in the official final examination schedule. Changes to final examination schedules and locations must be approved by the chair of the department or the dean of the College, or the appropriate designee. However, final examinations or assessments may not be rescheduled to the final week of classes or to Reading Day.

Students are strongly encouraged to check the final exam schedule before registering for courses. Exam schedules are based on, but not the same as, the start time of the lecture period for the individual class.

When Course and Classroom Scheduling Services has completed the scheduling of final exams -- first week of April for Spring; and first week of November for Fall, final exam schedules (date/time/location) can be viewed in Testudo Final Exams web page.

Per OSU Policy 2-0207, the final examination for a class should be one of substance and should follow periodic evaluation during the semester. All instructors of record for courses having regularly-scheduled meeting times are required to distribute a semester plan (i.e. a syllabus), electronically and/or physically, during the first week of courses. This typically includes the schedule of examinations and other course requirements, as well as details of the grading system that will be used in the determination of final grades.

A formal final examination week is observed at the end of each fall and spring semester. See the Final Exam Schedule. For summer session courses or other short courses, the final exam is generally conducted on the last day of the class during the regular class meeting time. See OSU Policy 2-0207 for additional information.

For fall and spring semesters, the Office of the Registrar constructs the final examination schedule according to the Faculty Council approved schedule. Final examinations shall be held at the times listed in the official schedule. Instructors who wish to offer a final exam outside this schedule must submit a Pre-Finals/Finals Week Request Form located in the Forms section of the Registrar website. For summer session courses or other short courses, the final exam is generally conducted on the last day of the class during the regular class meeting time. See OSU Policy 2-0207 for additional information.

Final exam details for full semester-length classes in fall and spring semesters will display as an additional meeting for a class on student class schedule displays in Self-Service toward the end of the semester, according to the final exam schedules. Students should always check with their instructors for any variations from the published final exam schedule. The image below provides an example of how final exam details are presented:

Per OSU Policy 2-0216, in the event a student has three or more final exams scheduled for a single day, that student is entitled to arrange with the faculty member instructing the highest numbered course (4 digit course number) or two highest if the student has four finals on one day to re-schedule that examination(s) at a time of mutual convenience during final exam week.

Common final exam conflicts are resolved as follows: 1) The instructor of the course with the fewer credit hours is responsible for providing the make-up exam; 2) If the classes have the same number of credit hours, then the instructor of the course that meets later in the day/week is responsible for providing the make-up exam. 17dc91bb1f
