When the game starts, two players get approximately 10-20 cards. There are two stages to a turn: a floop stage and a battle stage. A player may take any building card and floop it (turn it to the left) to appear as holograms on the board. Buildings have special effects which can aid the player using them. There are only two known elements of the game, which are corn and learning. Corn cards happen to be powered by corn fields, which are given to the player at the start of the game. Learning cards are powered by intelligence, so a player could send someone to learn, and in turn, that person will receive power.

The board of the game shows holographic projections of the played cards. The back of the cards are red in color with a white border. The cards have the letters, "C W," which stands for Card Wars, and there are flames in the background.

If you're not watching about Finn and Jake's adventures throughout the Land of Ooo, might I recommend you pick up an episode or two? You're sure to chuckle or you might have no soul. But hey, no one's judging.

We played the original US version of the game. Each player builds train routes between cities, scoring points each time they do. Routes are built by collecting the right cards, e.g. 3 black car cards, or 5 red etc. In addition, each player receives destination tickets. These contain pre-mapped routes, and if you successfully link these cities, you are awarded bonus points. Finally, there are bonus points available for the longest route.

So what about Adventure Time Card Wars? I need a starter set to play but that is clearly label on the pack so I took a look at the rules. OK I skimmed the rules. Basically there are 4 lanes to fight and defend. The combat, damage and spells are all similar Hearthstone (or WoW TCG). The flooping is like Magic: The Gathering without summoning sickness. The mana system is very, very simple. You have two actions per turns and cards cost 0,1 or 2 actions.
