Reviews I'm seeing seem to indicate that, sadly, Even with the latest release, Canon still does not have the Camera Connect "app" quite right. My simplistic search seems to indicate several 3rd party alternatives available, with varying feature sets and pricing. I'm looking for an app for my iPad mini, about 4 years old, updated iOS to latest version available. I don't mind paying a modest amount for a decent feature set and robust, bug-free software. My main interest is robust remote control - image uploading, for me, is secondary. Any recommendations? Or "bewares"? Thanks!

What I've read - the software's feature set is very good, but the reviews give lots of low marks for connectivity issues between camera and iPad or iPhone. I prefer to not have to fret with such matters. A few bad reviews I'd ignore, but in this case there are a lot.

Thank you for the suggestions! One question please - I looked on the Cascable website, but I could not find a definitive answer. Does that software support peer-to-peer connection between camera and iPad/iPod, or is a WiFi gateway between required? For what I want to do, peer-to-peer is preferable.

Not meaning to be contentious - I did exactly that. I wanted to use the app with an iPad. Got the iPad to connect to the camera, but could never get the app to recognize the camera. With Cascable, about a two minute (literally) process, and all done and good to go.

What's the best camera for travel? Good travel cameras should be small, versatile, and offer good image quality. In this buying guide we've rounded-up several great cameras for travel and recommended the best.

Above $2500 cameras tend to become increasingly specialized, making it difficult to select a 'best' option. We case our eye over the options costing more than $2500 but less than $4000, to find the best all-rounder.

In this type of situation it sounds like a good idea to establish a fresh connection between the camera and phone. Before starting a new connection I recommend a couple of things. I would first uninstall the Canon Camera Connect App from your smartphone, reboot the phone, and then re-install the App. This will make sure the the App is completely uninstalled and latest version of the App is installed fresh.

I would then go to the Wi-Fi option in the 3rd Setup (yellow wrench) section of the camera's menu, and set Wi-Fi to disable. After disabling the Wi-Fi turn the camera OFF then back ON. Now go back to the Wi-Fi option in the menu and enable it.

Now select the Wi-Fi function option in the menu and choose the Connect to smartphone icon to begin the connection again. If the Connect to smartphone screen shows "Choose Set." and "Review/Change settings", pick the review change settings option to go through the setup process again. If the Connection method screen appears choose the "Camera access point mode" option and proceed through the setup instructions on the camera.

I have a G7x mark 1 and and iPhone SE running iOS 12.1.4. Camera Connect has been working fine for at least a year but has now stopped working (possibly with the latest iPhone OS upgrade). Now the iPhone recognises the camera WiFi in settings but the camera will not find the iPhone. I have been through the business of deleting the app, rebooting the phone and reinstalling the app (2.0.0) and also 'resetting' the WiFi on the camera it still will not connect. Help please. This has been a very useful app and I am dismayed that it now does not work.

I am having the same frustrations. The app worked the first time i used it and when I tried to use it the next day it said no camera was found. I tried all of the suggestions with no luck. It is insane that this app doesn't work.

Tried the above solution, I don't know if something changed with that application, but on my R5, Bluetooth works fine; trying to connect to Wi-Fi easy mode (Android), it just endlessly never connects. The phone tries, and the camera see's it trying, but it never connects. Absolutely frustrating.

There is also a remote control jack under the cover on the right side that will accept any wired, like the wired RS-60E3 or wireless controls using a 2.5MM remote control plug. I got both the wired and a wireless model as long as it has a 2.5MM plug it will work on your SX60

I set up using the Camera Control API connection tool and that went fine. Then I set up a connection and was able to access the camera with both, a small Ruby/Rails program I wrote and Postman. After about 2 hours of fooling around the connection went away and I haven't been able to reconnect since. (This was Sunday and I've been trying Monday and Tuesday.)

It works quite well, after some predicted issues with initial connection. Strangely my newer Galaxy S5 doesn't work as well as an older Galaxy Tab 7, but the larger screen of the tablet it better anyway.

A couple of annoyances, both Canon related I think. Firstly the connection is lost every time you change mode on the camera. Canon's explanation is that on camera controls "have priority" over WiFi control, not an issue with tge TPLink interface though. Secondly, I think that there mught be a fair bit of unnecessary loss of remote control functionality with WiFi remote compared to USB remote, according to Canon, for performance reasons.

Features lacking, compared to DSLR Controller, seem to me to include manual (more correctly remote) focus control, zoom level button and, I think, greater access to general camera functions, though still restricted by the camera firmware. Camera Connecr does have an optional focus button which I like.

I don't have a WiFi enabled camera so I've never tried CCC. I've installed DSLR Controller and Helicon Remote but not got around to actually doing something serious with them. It's good that we have some choice.

Also a new owner of the 760D and trying to establish a wireless remote connection with my S4 phone. I tried the Canon EOS app but it referred me to the newer Canon Connect app. I can connect but the connection fails before I can start the app. What am I doing wrong? Does my home Wi-Fi overpower the Canon and replace it?

The secret seems to be to use Camera Access Point (CAP) mode on the camera. This is done in the WiFi menu on the camera. You can set up connections to up to 3 devices this way. When you first do it, the camera will display a "paasword" and wait for you to connect your device (the S4).

It took me quite a few attempts to figure all this out but it is now quite routine. For future connections you still go to the WiFi set up the phone (assuming that you have switched some other network in the meantime) but you won't need to enter the paasword.

Canon Connect works but I am beginning to think that DSLR Controller is better. One nice feature (on DSLR Controller) is remote manual focussing. You leave the camera/lens on auto focus and use buttons on the phone screen for coarse, medium and fine focus. You can zoom 5x or 10x to anywhere on the screen while focussing. The app must somehow trigger the shutter release without triggering autofocus.

An anoying "feature" is that WiFi disconnects every time the camera mode is changed and you to reconnect. Cant n claims that this is because manual controls have priority over WiFi. I think it's just poor implementation.

The DPP Express App works after the images are downloaded. Start by downloading the photos you want to edit. Note, for iOS you have to tell the CC app to download RAW files. Its a toggle. **This feature is not available in Android. After that, you open the DPP Express App, navigate to the folder where your RAW images are saved and open to edit. The CC App creates a separate folder for each camera when images are transferred.

Your device will only allow one instance of the Canon Connect App or Canon DPP Express to be installed. You can have multiple camera's paired to each app, but only one can connect or be controlled at a time. e24fc04721
