Made this today on a whim. Love how simple the ingredients are. I didn't have maple syrup but had date syrup. It is less sweet but that's ok because it makes it even more exciting when you get a choc chunk!

Hi Mehek, the coconut oil helps the granola harden up to give nice and crunchy clusters. We'd recommend substituting it with a neutral vegetable oil, such as refined olive oil that doesn't impart the olive oil taste, rather than nut butter as we haven't had a chance to test it without oil. Hey, i don't have much maple syroup, maybe 2 tbsp. I saw in your other granola recipee you're just using sugar. How should i proceed to add 2 tbsp maple and how much sugar, please? or adjust sth else? I'd be replacing pecans for migdals, but that shouldn't matter.

Hey Ala, if you only have 2 tablespoons of maple syrup and want to use some sugar, you could substitute the remaining sweetness by using about 1-3 tablespoons of granulated sugar. Sugar doesn't have the same liquid consistency as maple syrup, so it may affect the texture slightly, but it should still work well in the recipe. If you find that the granola isn't quite sweet enough, you could also serve it with a sweet base such as sweetened plant-milk or yogurt if needed too ?

So good! I have made this granola a few times already and I love to have it with yogurt and fruit!! I used cacao powder and it turned out amazing! It has the perfect amount of chocolate flavor without being to overpowering. I did not add the chopped chocolate because I liked the taste how it was but I am sure it would taste great with the chocolate! I love the recipes on Pick Up Limes!!

This is SO freaking delicious! I made a batch and have been enjoying it with almond milk and fresh blueberries every morning. Such a good way to get your nuts and seeds in! It kind of reminds me of rice crispies a little bit - thoughts on adding puffed rice to give it a bit of a crunch?

SO YUMMY!!! I just made a batch for this week for breakfasts. I can't wait to have it tomorrow morning on my yogurt with some strawberries and blueberries! I don't think it even needs the extra chocolate - but I'll try it to see. Very easy to make and was able to do other food prep while it was baking and cooling. I'll definitely be making this one again!

If you don't like to eat your yogurt plain or want to replace cereal with a more nutritious choice of grains, this is def the one recipe to go for. I have tried variations of this recipe and thee exact same one too and it always comes out so light, crunch, and chocolaty. I have made this enough times and you really cannot go wrong with any of PUL's granola recipes. It's also a very quick recipe with minimal cleanup and simple pantry ingredients. MUST TRYY!!

I want to try this recipe but exclude coconut and have just one of nut & seed (almonds & sunflower seeds). Was wondering if changing a few ingredients will require alterations in the proportions of oil / sweetener / cacao etc?

Also, if you can bear with me on a baking-specific query.. I've a 57% dark BAKING chocolate bar at home. I don't want to sprinkle chocolate chunks at the end & rather have it coated. To still make it double choc granola, is it ok to use chopped pieces of this bar with cacao in the baking process? While I've seen people put chocolate chips & cocoa powder, I'm not sure of the usage of baking chocolate in granola. Would be great to receive some guidance. Thanks!

Hey Nikki, the shredded coconut adds a touch of sweetness so if you like your granola on the sweeter side and plan to omit it, you might want to add extra sweetener. We haven't baked this recipe with chocolate before and suspect it could burn. One alternative approach we've seen is to bake the granola, let it cool completely, coat it in chocolate, and then chill it in the fridge overnight?

Made this one last night and this morning I had the granola with some pomegranate seeds and coconut yogurt. It was really good! Next time instead of chopped chocolate I'll add in some chocolate-coated raisins.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it Merv! It's usually the sugar that crystallizes and helps the granola cluster. Our granola recipes are lower in sugar than most granola recipes, but if you want clusters, there are 2 ways to make this happen: 1) add more maple syrup, 2) stir less. Stir up until the halfway point, then pack it down with a spatula and avoid stirring again until it's done. I hope this helps!

I like to buy a mix of nuts and raisins for a snack while studying but I sometimes get bored of how plain it is and was wondering if I could also use that to make this granola by simply adding some of the other ingredients. If my mix has raisins though, should I leave them out and add them only at the end along with the chocolate or can they also be baked? Thank you for your answer!

Hey there, Caroline, what a lovely study snack! To avoid the raisins getting hard in the oven, it may be easiest to stir them in at the end when you've removed the granola from the oven to cool. If you'd like to experiment though, soaking the raisins in water or lowering the oven temperature may help avoid them from drying out. We hope you enjoy the recipe if you're able to give it a try?

This is such a game changer for me as nuts are usually pricier but mixes with dried fruits can be found for much more reasonable prices in Germany and it's the perfect portion for this recipe! This will definitely become a staple for me :)
