Birdie Wing: Golf Girls' Story (stylized as BIRDIE WING -Golf Girls' Story-) is a Japanese original anime television series about golf produced by Bandai Namco Pictures and directed by Takayuki Inagaki. The first season aired from April to June 2022, while a second season aired from April to June 2023. A sports video game developed by Viverse and WOWWOW Technology was released in June 2023.

The series was received positively. Briana Lawrence of The Mary Sue called the series "delightfully bonkers" and predicted future episodes would expand its "wacky, sapphic vibe".[23] She later described the series as a "fantastically campy golf (love) story".[24] Yuricon founder Erica Friedman argued that the series is similar to isekai like I'm in Love with the Villainess and argued it flouts the rules of the sports anime genre. She also called it a "delightful romp" with openly yuri themes and said it is close to becoming the "greatest Yuri sports anime of all time".[25]

Alex Henderson of Anime Feminist, reviewing the first episode, criticized the series for its "questionable tropes" and tackling "touchy subjects with [fairly] wild abandon" but still argued it is entertaining and the most fun they "ever had watching golf".[26] Vrai Kaiser of the same publication, reviewing the first four episodes, argued that the show's "extreme sports angle" wasn't as strong as it could be, and described the show as "flashy" and "weird" but said that the rivalry between Eve and Aoi gave the series "an unexpectedly solid core".[27]

Bandai Namco Pictures describes the anime as a youth story centering on two young women golfers named Eve and Aoi Amawashi. The two come from completely different backgrounds, and have the completely opposite play styles, and together they will shake the world of golf.

The official Twitter account for Birdie Wing -Golf Girls' Story- confirmed Friday that the second season of the anime would begin airing on April 7. The account also posted a new visual for the series, and the news was relayed by Crunchyroll, which has been streaming the anime since its first season.The first season of Birdie Wing premiered almost a year ago, on April 6, 2022. Initially advertised as a simple girls' sports story focusing on lead characters Eve and Aoi engaging with the world of golf, the show picked up notoriety as it escalated almost straight out of the starting gate. A story involving life-or-death golf duels, mechanized golf courses, the mafia, and even a rocket launcher at one point came to define the wild turns of Birdie Wing. Given the cut-off nature of where the first season of Birdie Wing ended, as well as the fact that it included a regular "Next Episode" preview as all previous ones had, it seems safe to assume that the series was always intended to run for at least two cours, or three-month periods. The split in batches of episodes seems to have been by design, though the show's second season was originally intended to begin airing in January 2023. That was pushed back, though a pre-screening event for the second season's first episode on December 25 last year still went ahead as planned. Hopefully that, plus the extra three months allotted to the production, indicates that Birdie Wing won't have to worry about the delays and issues which have affected so many anime from this recent season, and fans of over-the-top golf-girl action can look forward to it teeing off for its back nine at the scheduled time. 006ab0faaa
