The keeper has been manning the bell towers around Trolberg for several years. He is the last bellkeeper that is still on duty around the time of the series, and up until "Chapter 6: The Old Bells of Trolberg" he never had a reason to interact with the bells.

The keeper is first seen in "Chapter 1: The Troll Circle" when Erik Ahlberg, Gerda Gustav, and Hilda visit his bell tower during a safety inspection. They find him not at his station, as he was off for a walk. When questioned about trolls in the area, he admits that the night before he saw a troll near the wall, that took his sandwich after he accidentally dropped it. Erik is not happy to hear that a troll came this close to the wall, and the keeper didn't ring the bell. He reminds the man to ring the bell next time.

In "Chapter 6: The Old Bells of Trolberg", Erik Ahlberg tries to have all the belltowers automated by installing mechanical bellringers in each one of them, starting with the tower manned by the keeper. The Keeper, who knows that this will cost him his job, and that Ahlberg's plan will do more harm than good in the long run, secretly helps Hilda and her friends to sabotage the system by letting her into the main control room, where they overload the bells by putting them all on maximum volume. The plan succeeds and the mechanical bellringers are all destroyed. At the end of the episode, the Bellkeeper is back in his belltower, enjoying the returned peace and quietness.

The events from "Chapter 6: The Old Bells of Trolberg" are also adapted into the novel "Hilda and the Time Worm". Here, Hilda and the bellkeeper first meet after Hilda helps a startled Woff get back up from the ground, but the Woff accidentally drags Hilda along when he flies away. Hilda is forced to jump off the Woff's back, and is caught by the bellkeeper.

Could one of us join bell keepers and the other would just go at Belfry Sol. Will entering Belfry Sol trigger one of us being pull into other world as bell keeper (as I read just now that pulling lever won't do that - it just for some fog to go away).

Just wanted to start a discussion about your tips and experiences while protecting the bells. I've been doing a LOT of invading via Bell Keeper covenant lately and have gained enough experience that I feel comfortable talking about it. And, for you non-keepers out there, can you read this and stop dying so quick? K thnx.

If you want to give your fellow keepers practice, wear your invasion ring and then just go hang out in the Belfrys. This works great for practicing getting invaded as well, practice against being doubled up, and it's easy to run back and get your souls if you happen to get killed. Really this is the best and easiest place to hone your PvP skills. No time wasted with bowing or any of that crap, very little room for people to run and hide.

If your invader hasn't rang the bell and opened up the gate before the fog door, it can be pretty fun to go hang out on top and gank 'em after they climb the ladder. If you play it right you can let them kill all the dwarves without being seen and then backstab them right as they reach for the bell lever. Good times!

If you warp in and see that the host is still fighting dwarves down below, or is just now ringing the bell, instead of directly engaging them, just wait at the top of the ladder for an easy kill. They'll come through eventually.

I've seen quite a few people using Chameleon here; make sure you check the nook to the right of the entrance gate and the areas behind the bell and ladder towers. There aren't normally vases there, so make sure you look around the corners and hit them with a nice attack while they think they are still hidden. I like dual poison whips for this.

The Bell Keepers are a pvp and invasion-themed Covenant in Dark Souls 2. Upon joining the covenant the player will be given a Bell Keeper's Seal ring, and five Rusted Coins after talking to the dwarf. One's objective as a Bell Keeper is to defeat any trespasser that sets foot in the bell tower. However, if there are no viable hosts to invade in that tower, the player will invade the other tower instead. The covenant icon of the Bell Keepers will pulse with light when one is placed in the matchmaking queue. In Belfry Luna, invaders will often spawn near the top of the tower, next to the door which leads to the Belfry Gargoyles boss fight. If the world host manages to enter the boss fight during an invasion, the invader will be returned to their world. Spawn points for Belfry Sol, are usually near the ballista, near the bell switch, or near the exit. As an invader you're also unable to use healing items.

Where to Join: Belfry Luna/Belfry Sol

To gain ranks in this covenant, one must defeat world hosts when invading as a Gray Phantom, or defeat Red Phantoms that invade the Belfries. Your total rank score is a combination of both. (e.g. 5 defeated hosts + 5 defeated Red Phantoms will raise one's rank from rank 0 to rank 1).

The rank system is confirmed. The Red Phantom Bell Keepers do not count towards the rank system because they are in fact Bell Keepers.

To gain rank 3 in the covenant, it's necessary to ring the bells in both Belfry Sol and Belfry Luna, in addition to defeating 100 trespassers.

Created by the team that gave the world Final Destination, it is no surprise that The Bell Keeper sometimes sounds like it is from another time. Thankfully, the premise is timeless. A group of friends head to a secluded campsite to film a documentary about its infamous past. They soon learn of its strange legend; ringing the bell located there at midnight will summon a murderer. Their plans to debunk the myth are met with a horrifying truth.

From this we can take it to mean that the Prince and Princess gave these bells to each other, so that when they were able to hear them ring, they would be reminded of their love. The Belfry Guards were designed to ring these bells and maintain this situation. There would be some, most probably within the kingdoms of Alken and Venn who understood the true purpose of these bells and sought to bring an end to it. To counteract this, the Belfry Guards were instructed to slice to bits any who might approach the bell.

First encounter (in Belfry Luna):

"Undead! Undead! Keep your hands off our bell, the great Bell of Alken!

The bell belongs! To the Princess, it do! Stay back, or we slice! Slice you to bits!

Me and my chums, we shan't be miffed! Stay back, or you're pieces! Tiniest pieces! Hah hah hah hah!"

Talking (in Belfry Luna, while a member of the covenant):

"Ah hah hah! The Princess made me! To guard the Bell of Alken! In Alken!

The bell! Of the princess! In Venn! The bell! Of the prince, yes!

Tear 'em to shreds, tear 'em to bits! Gather around, and ring the bell swift!

We've been ringing this bell forever, we have! Ah hah hah hah!"

First encounter (in Belfry Sol):

"Undead! Undead! Keep your hands off our bell, the great Bell of Venn!

The bell belongs! To the Prince, it do! Stay back, or we slice! Slice you to bits!

Me and my chums, we shan't be miffed!

Stay back, or you're pieces! Tiniest pieces! Hah hah hah hah!"

Talking (in Belfry Sol, while a member of the covenant):

"Ah hah hah! The Prince made me! To guard the Bell of Venn!

In Venn! The bell! Of the fine prince! In Alken! The bell! Of the princess!

Tear 'em to shreds, tear 'em to bits! Gather around, and ring the bell swift!

We've been ringing this bell forever, we have! Ah hah hah hah!"

Talking (in Belfry Sol, while a member of the covenant):

Bell Keeper's Seal

Ring of the Bell Keeper covenant. Join this covenant and wear this ring to be automatically summoned to the world of an invader of the bell keeper's domain. The twin bells symbolize the bond between two lovers who could never be united. The bell keepers are their eternal guardians. For that is their love; that is their curse.

Bell Keeper Bellyband

An old bellyband that is oddly comfortable. Belonged to a Bell Keeper. To this day, the forbidden love of the Prince of Alken and the princess of Venn manipulates these marionettes. Surely they never imagined that their dolls would outlast their own kingdoms.

Bell Keeper Bow/Shield

Used by bell keepers. Very light, and requiring hardly any strength. The bells symbolize forbidden love; the bell keepers, their faithful guardians, ever-ready to annihilate trespassers. They will stand watch, for ever and ever, these determined, if ill-fated, marionettes.

Bell Keeper

The bells are the symbols of forbidden love, and the marionettes who defend them do so with zealous passion. They've been watching over, and ringin', the bells forever. If you seek to stop them, or to ring a bell for yourself, you'll have to face these tiny terrors.

KEEPS BUTTER EASY TO SPREAD AND FRESH

I like real butter. the only problem with it was it was hard to spread from the fridge. It keeps really well in this butter bell and is just the right consistency to spread on bread or toast. ff782bc1db
