I ended up with a C-section with my daughter and I had a good idea that I would also end up with one with my son so I knew that a bassinet like this would help a lot during my recovery. The way it helps is that one of the sides of the Bassinest can easily be pushed down so that it is easier to lift the baby out of it instead of having to reach down into the bassinet and lift up. It can be so painful during those weeks of recovery after a C-section and it is really great that HALO kept those moms in mind when making the Bassinest.

It includes a nightlight that shines into the Bassinest so that the baby can easily be seen during those wee hours of the night when they get up to be fed. It has 6 sounds that can be played which includes 3 lullabies, nature sounds and a womb sound to help comfort the baby when they are alone at night. The fourth button from the left is for a nursing timer, this is very handy, especially in the early days, for anyone who might easily sleep through the 2-3 hour mark of needing to get up to feed the baby. The alarm will go off when it is time to feed the baby again. The last button has two settings for vibration to help comfort the baby while they are sleeping.

I was so impressed with Halo, looking at all the prints and low volume fabrics, admiring the neat piecing and then I saw the fabulous quilting on that DWR and I forgot about Halo till I noticed the Moose. Sorry, what were you saying? :-D Wishing you loads of success in your upcoming class.

The Halo quilt just gets prettier and prettier. I am still so inspired by it and hope to use the templates and pattern I bought at some point (hopefully when I get some other things done). I hope you truly do get it done this week.

Your machine quilting on the double wedding ring all solids quilt is so nice and wonderfully creative. I would have never thought of that design but it is perfect!

The deer quilt is so beautifully different. Wonderful quilting choice again! Your clients are so so lucky!

I ALWAYS prefer sewing the blocks to assembling the quilt. It's easy to think, All the blocks are sewn; I'm in the home stretch. But the reality is there's so much sewing to do still. (So. Much. Sewing!) That being said, it is most satisfying to see your Halo quilt come together in all its glorious scrappiness. Keep the updates coming -- we're rooting you along!

Red-shouldered Hawk, Sea Pines Plantation, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. There was something on the wall behind the hawk's head. I'm not sure what it is, but it makes it look like a halo around the hawk's head. To the left of the hawk is a staircase, so it probably is a light fixture of some sort. I think halo sounds better! This is probably my favorite feature of the HALO Bassinest. The base stays in place, but swivels around, so you can easily maneuever your baby into your lap for a late night/early morning feed without having to get out of bed. See exhaustion below, for a reminder on why this is such a huge perk of this bassinet.

Now that it's been two months of having a newborn baby in our home, I feel like we are starting to get into a rhythm of things and the biggest part of that is having baby Rome on a schedule. I know that life is crazy and everyday things are changing so it's impossible to have everyday the same, but with a flexible schedule and a predictable bedtime routine I think it will hopefully contribute to him sleeping through the night soon as well as a couple of my favorite new baby items that we've been loving. The HALO Glide Bassinest and HALO SleepSack swaddle have truly been the best things! Since we knew that we were going to keep the baby in our room for a little while until moving him into the nursery, we needed a bassinet that would be easy to use for him and this one has been our favorite by far compared to the other two we have. I love that it doesn't take up much room and can easily glide right under the bed so that you have the baby close to you for feedings. It can also raise up and down to accommodate the height of your bed, but the best part is the side of the bassinet that lowers for you to reach in and grab your baby. It has really made things easy for me to feed him at night when you are so tired and can't pull yourself out of bed. I would definitely recommend this to other moms who are expecting and want to find a great bassinet option for while their babies are little. As part of his bedtime routine after feeding him he gets a bath while the other two kids are in their own tub and then I get him in jammies, turn on calm lullabies or the sound machine and wrap him up in the Halo SleepSack swaddle. He knows it's time to sleep when I put the swaddle on and it has made things so much easier than just using a blanket to wrap him up. He always seems to manage to get out of a regular swaddle blanket and it doesn't last through the night. That's why I love this SleepSack so much because he stays wrapped up throughout the whole night and goes right back to sleep if he wakes up for a feeding. I have used these SleepSacks with my other babies as well and it helped them transition into a crib plus it makes it easier for diaper changes this time around with the easy access zipper at the bottom now. This wearable blanket would make a great gift for a baby shower and especially for a friend that already has most of the baby gear. I love finding new items that help make your life as a mom so much easier!

And there are many things you can do to make it a better experience.

A halo brace is an orthotic, or support, that helps immobilize and protect the bones in the neck (cervical spine) following an injury or surgery. The halo brace consists of a halo (ring), a body jacket (vest), and rigid uprights (rods).

The halo is a rigid ring, closed or opened in the back, which surrounds the head and is attached by pins. There can be anywhere from four to 10 pins, depending on the type of halo being used by your physician. The pins are threaded through the halo into the outer portion of the skull. Some halos are pinless, but they are used only in certain situations.

To prepare your other children for being around a sibling with a halo brace, show them pictures and let them ask questions. Find out if your hospital has a child life program. This type of program will work with children in your family to prepare them for the halo and to answer their questions.

To prepare adults in your family, show them pictures of halo braces or send them to this website. Remind your family and visitors to always wash their hands while in the house.
