The "Babel and next/font Conflict" error arises when you attempt to use next/font in conjunction with a custom Babel configuration in your Next.js application. When you have a custom Babel config, you opt out of the Next.js Compiler, which is a requirement for using next/font.

To address this issue, you should remove your custom Babel configuration (e.g. .babelrc) and instead make use of the Next.js Compiler. This ensures compatibility between your Babel configuration and next/font.

The "Babel and next/font Conflict" error occurs when we use next/font with a custom Babel config. When we have a custom Bible config we opt out of the Next.js compiler which is required when using next/font

This article is a follow-up to our earlier piece titled Multilingual typesetting on Overleaf using polyglossia and fontspec. Here, we show how to use the babel package, via its \babelprovide and \babelfont commands, to reproduce examples contained in the previous article, which focussed on polyglossia.

Note: Although this removes the warning messages, these settings are not ideal because they can potentially break font features specific to some languages. See this discussion for further information.

Recall that you can set typefaces for different languages and families. In the following example we explicitly set a sans serif font for Hebrew because we would like to use sans serif for section headers:

If I compile with pdflatex, modifying accordingly the preamble and using the type 1 versions of the fonts instead of the opentype, everything is fine whatever the order of the languages. I tried with some other fonts, same problem. Is this a bug or do I miss something?

But note that the fontspec manual describes babel as 'not really supported' and recommends polyglossia (page 4). I assume they mean for languages supported by the latter which is not all of them but does include Russian.

Since currently there are two methods to load a language, here is a shortexplanation on how to do it, with info about basic fonts, so that youcan setup quickly a document. There are also pages on specific localesin the menu above

If compatibility is not a concern, remember currently the most important systems (Windows, Mac, Linux) come with many fonts. Even if they are not installed by default, there are options in the system settings to do it.

Dynamic Icon Importing eliminates the need to declare individual icons, saving you time adding icons and tracking down unused icons. This work is based on javascripter's babel macro plugin (opens new window)

Then, create a babel-plugin-macros.config.js and add the fontawesome-svg-core settings. You can set the license to either free or pro depending on the icons you are planning to use. (Learn more about setting babel macros (opens new window))

BabelStone fonts map glyphs to Unicode characters, so in order to use these fonts in documents you create you may need to be able to enter Unicode text for Ogham, Runic, Tangut, Khitan, etc. How to do this depends upon your operating system and the particular application that you are using, but I provide some suggestions for Windows users on my Ogham page (How to Input Unicode Ogham), and these suggestions apply to any Unicode script.

All BabelStone fonts are free for personal or commercial use, but you are welcome to make a small voluntary donation via PayPal if you find them useful. Simply click on the link below and select whatever amount you are comfortable with.

All BabelStone fonts are designed and created using FontCreator Profession Edition from High-Logic, which I can thoroughly recommend as an affordable and powerful font editor with great customer support. FontCreator has a powerful OpenType design tool, support for Unicode Variation Sequences, and support for COLR/CPAL colour fonts, all of which enable me to develop cutting edge Unicode fonts simply and efficiently.

babel-greek is a contributed package providing comprehensivesupport for the Greek language and script via the Babel system.Document authors can select between the monotonic(single-diacritic), polytonic (multiple-diacritic), andancient orthography of the Greek language.

The default Latin Modern Unicode fontcontains only a few Greek letters!Unsupported characters are silently dropped from the output.Warnings about missing glyphs are written to the log filebut not to the console.

The LGR font encoding allows input of Greek characters via a Latintransliteration. This enables simple input with a Latin keyboard. Characterswith diacritics may be selected with accent macros (cf. greek-fontenc) orvia the ligature definitions in the font (see usage.pdf).

The downside is, that you cannot print Latin letters and some symbols ifLGR is the active font encoding. This means that for every Latin-writtenword or acronym in a Greek text part, an explicit font encoding switch isrequired.

The package allows you to use the Ibycus 4 font for ancient Greek with Babel. It uses a Perl script to generate hyphenation patterns for Ibycus from those for the ordinary Babel encoding, cbgreek. It sets up ibycus as a pseudo-language you can specify in the normal Babel manner. For proper hyphenation of Greek quoted in mid-paragraph, you should use it with elatex (all current distributions of LaTeX are built with e-TeX, so the constraint should not be onerous).

Webfonts can be used on a single domain. Agencies responsible for multiple websites, for example web design agencies or hosting providers, may not share a single webfont license across multiple websites.

Every time the webpage using the webfont kit is loaded (i.e, the webfont kit CSS which holds the @font-face rule is called) the counting system counts a single pageview for each webfont within the webfont kit.

We'll supply a kit containing webfonts that can be used within digital ads, such as banner ads. This kit may be shared with third parties who are working on your behalf to produce the ad creatives, however you are wholly responsible for it.

An Electronic Doc license is based on the number of publications in which the font is used. Each issue counts as a separate publication. Regional or format variations don't count as separate publications.

So I've been wondering about the Regional Indicator Symbols and their use in mobile phone systems. It should theoretically be possible to create a font for computers that shows the actual flags instead of a placeholder, right?

BabelStone Flags is a font that supports multicolour flag glyphs for Unicode character sequences representing various national, sub-national, supra-national, and miscellaneous flags. The current version of the font includes glyphs for 130 flags in total. At present the only Windows applications I use that fully support this font are Microsoft Word 2016 and the Firefox browser, although most other browsers (such as Chrome, Edge, and Internet Explorer) do partially support the colour glyphs in this font. 2351a5e196
