Good day, everyone!

Can someone provide a step-by-step guide how to install smartconnector to CentOS via CLI? My system doesn't have GUI, so i tried to use smartconnector installer with "-i console" parameter, but installation process breaks with:

I have installed the Linux Smartconnector on a RHEL 6.6 machine with syslog daemon as the type of the smart connector and Logger as the destination. But it is not sending any logs to the Logger. In the Logger there are 0 events received on the smart connector. what all could be the possibiity. In one of the document I read that the smart connector can pull events from RHEL 6.4, 6.5 and 7.1. Could anybody let me know what could be the issue?

I am trying to collect the syslogs from one of the Linux machine. While installing the smart connector I had configured it with the Loggers destination IP with UDP:514 port with the name of the reciever (of type SmartMessage Receiver) configured on the Logger. But when I check the dashboard for that receiver it shows 0 events. Can Linux smart connector be installed on any of the RHEL machines? Or the versions are a constraint? I have installed it on RHEL 6.6. Is it any compatible issue? However the connector was successfully installed on the RHEL machine.

I know from the latest smart connector events from Red Hat Linux Enterprise (RHEL)

are: 6.4, 6.5, 6.7, 7.1, 7.2, 7.4, 7.5, 7.6, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, and 8.4 are supported, since CenOS and oracle Linux are based on red hat can i assume those distribution are supported as well? what about the version, only those specific version are supported? Can you help me wich of all those linux that a listed before are supported and wich is not so i may consider developing a flexconnector?

so far I checked, all linux distros you want to collect support syslog, so I think there is no problem with that. Be sure you are using audits and rsyslog/syslog-ng for forwarding logs to connector and you will be safe.

Yes, it looks like, you need a smartconnector to communicate with your logger. These logs are normalized in CEF (Common Event Format) and send encrypted to the Logger in SmartMessage format on port 9000/TCP.

1- Install the smart connector, then add connector and among those connectors select the Flex Connector ID Based DB

2- Among many documents I recommend this document . Specially, double check your JDBC connector, because the version of your connector should be the same as JDBC connector and JRE ff782bc1db
