Zombie Baseball Beatdown has zombies and baseball, that is true (and fun). But it is also a book about bullying, racism, corporate power, and factory farming. Bacigalupi manages to weave all these themes into the books without bogging it down and still entertaining readers. When I closed this book I was both entertained and so very grateful that an author had managed to present these important topics to younger readers in a way that may plant a seed and get them thinking about very relevant issues.

Baseball ZombieThe Baseball version of a Zombie.In-game statisticsSeenHomerun DerbyOnly appears in Homerun DerbyBaseball Zombie is a zombie that appears in Homerun Derby, which is exclusive to the Nintendo DS version. It requires one instant kill or a basketball shot to defeat. As a result of this, its toughness is unknown.

Catapult Baseball ZombieThe baseball version of Catapult Zombie.In-game statisticsSeenHomerun DerbyCatapult Baseball Zombie is a zombie that only appears in the mini-game Homerun Derby, in which this zombie serves as a pitcher, in the Nintendo DS versions of Plants vs. Zombies. It lobs basketballs which the player has to hit to make Home Runs and win the level. It lobs one basketball every six seconds. This zombie does not have an Almanac entry.

The goal of Homerun Derby is to get 30 homeruns by swiping the basketballs with your stylus when Catapult Baseball Zombie lobs them. You can also hit the basketballs to kill Baseball Zombies. If you use an explosive to destroy Catapult Baseball Zombie, the Catapult Baseball Zombie will be quickly replaced. Therefore, it is not wise to use explosives if they are by Catapult Baseball Zombie. For Jalapenos, plant them in all lanes to destroy zombies, except one, which has Catapult Baseball Zombie. For the Cherry Bomb, plant it where it is not near Catapult Baseball Zombie.

The rule has been met with mixed reviews in the baseball community since its inception before the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. Some prefer the format of the game to remain constant until a winner is decided; some hold that marathon games place too much strain on pitching staffs and make for unnecessarily long four-plus-hour affairs.

Sometimes the un-dead (not to be confused with those alive who act or appear like the un-dead) can be just flat out annoying. Be prepared with your own Phoenix Bats original: the Zombie Whacker. While you won't be hitting any game balls with this bat, you sure as heck can take care of pesky zombies wanting to eat your brains. Of course, you may just be a Walking Dead fan, and that's an okay reason to purchase as well (think of it as dual purpose....just in case).

Zombie Whacker Wood Bat Stats:

Stats???? We're whacking Zombies here, folks! It will get the job done (or look wicked at your desk or in the man cave).

Each wood bat, typically varying in specifications, will be all natural hardwood of maple, ash or birch.

Weight of each? Let's just say this: way too lite and Zombie gets the last laugh; way too heavy and Zombie still gets the last laugh as you will be too slow at playing "whack-a-zombie." We're not fans of either of those, so we do our best to still make them reasonably swing-able.

Production Time: Out the door in 2 days or less!

While all game bats are covered under Phoenix Bats Risk Free Guarantee, the Zombie Whacker is not. You think we want to run the risk of being blamed when a Zombie shows up on your doorstep or at the mall and you foolishly decided to send it back? Heck no!!!

And since some chuckle-head actually emailed us, complaining that we were advocating hitting someone with a bat when we offered this bat in a limited run prior: "Phoenix Bats in no way supports hitting any living creature with a bat....unless he or she or it is Undead (not alive, not dead, but a Zombie)".

Discussion: Bacigalupi takes some subjects bound to appeal to kids, like little league baseball, comic books, bullying, fitting in, determining right from wrong, and zombies, and puts them into a political and social context so that the book is not only entertaining, but educational.

The Baseball Zombie Halloween mask will be a homer run at the next costume party. Wear it with an old dirty jersey, and carry a torn-up glove and splintered bat. Hand painted by The Horror Dome, you'll appreciate the intricate detailing on this amazing design. Join with friends and go as an entire zombie baseball team, now wandering the town as an unruly horde. You'll really knock the look out of the park with this collector-worthy mask.

In the rule book, this runner is called an "automatic runner", but the preferred term on the podcast is "zombie runner" because the player has been "brought back from the dead" and placed at second base. Ben and Meg explain why they prefer the term "zombie runner" in Episode 1702.

The zombie runner was introduced in the minor leagues in 2019 and was implemented in MLB in 2020 "as part of MLB's health and safety protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic." As originally announced, the rule was described as temporary and would apply only to the 2020 regular season. Nevertheless, the zombie runner was revived for 2021, and again for 2022 (discussed in Episode 1827) before being made permanent starting in 2023 (discussed in Episode 1968).

The term was introduced to the podcast in Episode 1681 as a suggestion from listener Sam Normington, who said that the use of the term ghost runner "hurt me and my pedantic soul". The term is generally credited to FanGraphs writer (and frequent podcast guest) Dan Szymborski, who admitted in Episode 1953, "I have mixed feelings about 'zombie runner' because I kind of coined something for something I hate and wish not to be a thing."

In Episode 1827, Ben introduces new listeners to the zombie runner and why he hates it. His rant is triggered by the "temporary" reintroduction of the zombie runner for the 2022 season. Since 2020, the zombie runner has been a "temporary" rule, but it's inevitably going to be made permanent because the owners and players both support it. "I see through this. You're not fooling me," Ben says.

In Episode 1842, Ben and Meg contemplate whether runs scored by the zombie runner actually count, according to a strict reading of the rules. Their analysis is hampered by the fact that the zombie runner rule is in a separate manual which was not readily available. In Episode 1859, the official rules for the "automatic runner" are found, and Ben confirms that not only does the rule not absolve the zombie runner from touching first base, it also does not address the requirement that the scoring player must start as a batter.

In Episode 1958, Ben reviews the results of Reddit poll on the name for the automatic runner and is disappointed that "zombie runner" came in second-to-last, ahead only of "Other". He is nevertheless encouraged that "ghost runner" lost to "Manfred man".

The Worldmax Toys Baseball Zombie plush is a very obscure and odd choice for a plush. It has a baseball cap consisting of white at the front, a blue-like gray on the back and a red brim. It also has a red mouth, a red double layer baseball t-shirt tucked into the pants, the shirt has 3 buttons, white stripes, a black neck collar, and black sleeves, as well as white long shorts with a brown belt. Its shoes have an odd shape and a blueish gray color. It has long, red socks on, and the skin is a dull green color.

The Battery is a 2012 American drama horror film and the directorial debut of Jeremy Gardner. The film stars Gardner and co-producer Adam Cronheim as two former baseball players trying to survive a zombie apocalypse. The film premiered at the Telluride Horror Show in October 2012 and received a video-on-demand release June 4, 2013. It has won audience awards at several international film festivals.

After a zombie apocalypse has overtaken the entire New England area, two former baseball players, Ben (Jeremy Gardner) and Mickey (Adam Cronheim), travel the back-roads of Connecticut with no destination in mind. Their backstory reveals that they were trapped in a house in Massachusetts, along with Mickey's family, for three months. Mickey's father, mother and brother were killed before they figured out how to escape. Since then, Ben opposes sleeping indoors and the two have had many arguments regarding the matter. Ben has long adapted to their new lifestyle, which includes scavenging for supplies and constantly being on the move. Mickey, on the other hand, longs for a "normal" life. He refuses to learn basic survival skills and constantly isolates himself by listening to his CD player with headphones, burning through batteries.

The following morning, Ben discovers a zombie tied up near the house and releases it in Mickey's room. He keeps the door shut while urging Mickey to kill it with the baseball bat he left in the room earlier. After the sound of the struggle stops, Ben opens the door, discovering his friend has successfully scored his first zombie kill. Mickey angrily attacks Ben and storms outside. As Ben tries to cheer him up, Mickey breaks down in tears, telling Ben of his conversation with Annie.

Killing his first zombie and getting turned down by a community seem to have changed Mickey. He starts heeding Ben's advice, learns to fish and spends much less time with his headphones on. As the two stop by the road to inspect a car, a man (Niels Bolle) takes Mickey hostage with a knife, and orders Ben to give him their car keys. Ben tricks the man into letting Mickey go, then shoots and kills him. Immediately after, two other survivors arrive. The woman explains that the man stole the car from them, and says Ben did the right thing. Her companion Egghead (Jamie Pantanella) refuels the abandoned car and they prepare to leave. Mickey, recognizing Annie's voice from the walkie talkie, calls her by name. Annie, not wanting them to follow her to her group, shoots Ben in the leg and throws their car keys into a large grassy area, then leaves with Egghead. As it is too dark to find the keys, Ben and Mickey decide to sleep in the car. 2351a5e196
